Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of promotional expenditure in increasing business profits at Gudeg Eyang MSME, a traditional culinary business operating in Karawang, West Java. Research Methodology: The study employs a quantitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected from both primary sources (interviews with business owners) and secondary sources (financial reports and promotional records in 2025). The analysis includes identifying promotional costs, measuring changes in turnover and profit, and calculating Return on Marketing Investment (ROMI). Results: The findings indicate that promotional expenditure has a positive impact on business profitability. Annual promotional costs of IDR 6,410,000 contributed to an increase in monthly turnover from IDR 12,000,000 to IDR 16,000,000, resulting in a 177% increase in net profit. The ROMI reached 250%, indicating high effectiveness of promotional strategies. Limitations: This study is limited to a single MSME case and covers only one year of data (2025), which may restrict the generalizability of the findings to other sectors or regions. Contribution: This research contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of promotional expenditure in improving MSME profitability, particularly in the context of digital marketing and local culinary businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze inventory turnover, profitability measured through the gross profit margin, comparisons with industry standards, and the role of inventory turnover in increasing profitability at PT Artindo Pratama Sejahtera during the 2020–2024 period. The study evaluates the relationship between inventory turnover and profitability, as well as compares the company’s performance with industry standards. The company’s financial statements are used as secondary data in this quantitative descriptive research. The analysis is conducted through the calculation of inventory turnover and gross profit margin ratios, which are then compared with industry standards to assess the company’s performance. The results of the study show that the company’s inventory turnover fluctuates and is mostly below industry standards, except in 2023 when the inventory turnover exceeded the standard. Meanwhile, the company’s profitability shows stable performance and remains consistently above industry standards throughout the research period. The conclusion of this study indicates that inventory turnover plays a role in supporting increased profitability but is not the only determining factor. The contribution of this research is expected to serve as a reference for management evaluation in improving the efficiency of inventory management, as well as a reference for future research in the manufacturing industry sector.

Abstract

Purpose of the study — The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the capital and business experience owned by shrimp farmers in influencing their income from shrimp farming in Tambak Sumur Village, Tirtajaya District, Karawang. Research method— This study employs a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was conducted using primary data obtained through direct interviews with shrimp farmers. Result— The study involved a sample of six shrimp farmers. Findings indicate that the business experience of these farmers is primarily derived from their parents' experiences. Notably, high income is achieved during the favorable season from March to June, with average daily sales ranging from 100 kg to 300 kg. Conversely, the period from October to December is marked by significant losses, ranging from 50% to 90%. Conclusion— The capital and business experience of shrimp farmers do not significantly determine their income increase. Instead, income is heavily influenced by factors such as seed quality, maintenance processes, seasonal variations, water quality, feed quality, shrimp yields, and the occurrence of shrimp diseases, including viruses that can lead to mass mortality in shrimp.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of raw material inventory at the Bakso Atmo Karawang SME during the study period. The method used was quantitative descriptive analysis with a saturated sampling technique, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of all available data. The results indicate that Bakso Atmo Karawang implements a daily raw material ordering system through partnerships with regular suppliers without maintaining a reserve inventory. Inventory management is conducted using the First In First Out (FIFO) method to maintain the quality and freshness of raw materials and minimize the risk of spoilage. Raw material requirements during the study period tended to be stable but experienced increases at certain times due to rising demand, such as during holidays and the year-end break. This increase in demand resulted in higher raw material purchase costs. The implemented inventory system has proven to be simple, consistent, and effective in supporting the smooth production process and maintaining product quality. This study provides practical contributions to SME operators in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of raw material inventory management.
