Abstract

Introduction: Labor pain in mothers is partly caused by a reduced oxygen supply to the uterine muscles during contractions. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as electric massage with infrared therapy on the spine, can help increase oxytocin levels, which may accelerate labor progress. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the infrared electric massage mattress (Kapein) in reducing labor pain and enhancing labor progress in primigravida mothers during the active phase of labor. Method: A true experimental research design with a pretest-posttest control group was used. The study involved all primigravida mothers in the active phase of labor at the Musytasyfah Karawang Clinic. A total sampling technique was employed, with 30 participants divided into an intervention group (15) and a control group (15). The data were analyzed using the McNemar test. The research was conducted from April to July 2024. Results: The study found that the infrared electric massage mattress (Kapein) was effective in reducing labor pain in primigravida mothers during the active phase (p=0.000). It also demonstrated effectiveness in improving labor progress (p=0.027). Conclusion: The infrared electric massage mattress (Kapein) is effective in reducing labor pain and improving labor progress in primigravida mothers during the active phase of labor. It is suggested that this intervention be considered as an alternative tool in obstetric services and recommended for use by the Health Office in childbirth care.

Abstract

Approximately 50% of maternal deaths occur within the first 24 hours after delivery. Cesarean section (CS) delivery can lead to more complications compared to vaginal delivery. At Humana Prima Hospital, the incidence of CS deliveries was 1035 in 2021, 1192 in 2022, and 1426 in 2023. Providing education during the postpartum period is important for increasing maternal knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. An innovative educational medium, such as the SEMASA application, can be an instrumental in this regard. This study aimed to analyze the influence of using the SEMASA application on maternal knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in postpartum care. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group approach. The research was conducted on 84 postpartum mothers at Humana Prima Hospital in 2023, using purposive sampling to select 42 respondents who used the SEMASA application and 42 respondents who received information through leaflets. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results revealed significant differences in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors between the intervention and control groups. In the intervention group, 36 respondents (85.7%) demonstrated good knowledge, compared to 22 respondents (52.4%) in the control group (p<0.05); 36 respondents (85.7%) in the intervention group had a positive attitude, compared to 34 respondents (81.0%) in the control group (p<0.05); 38 respondents (90.5%) in the intervention group exhibited compliant behavior, compared to 26 respondents (61.9%) in the control group (p<0.05). The study concluded that the SEMASA application effectively improves the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of postpartum women in their postpartum care.

Abstract

The problem of malnutrition is still a major concern in various countries, especially in the toddler group. There are several indirect factors that influence malnutrition in toddlers, including knowledge, education, employment, pregnancy spacing and family income. This research aims to determine the factors that influence the malnutrition status of children under five in Sarimahi village in 2024. The research design used correlative analytics with a point time approach. The population and sample for this study were all 56 babies and toddlers in the working area of the Ciparay Community Health Center, using a total sampling technique. The data used is primary data using a questionnaire. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate using the Chi square statistical test. The research results showed that the mother's level of knowledge was sufficient, she had low education, did not work, had a pregnancy interval of > 2 years, had a high income and the toddler was malnourished. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a relationship between knowledge (pvalue 0.004), education (pvalue 0.001) and pregnancy interval (pvalue 0.000) with malnutrition status in toddlers and no relationship between employment (pvalue 1.000) and family income (pvalue 0.310). The conclusion is that there is a relationship between knowledge, education, distance between pregnancies and malnutrition status in toddlers and there is no relationship between employment and family income and undernutrition status in toddlers. It is recommended that the community health center or other health facilities create an interactive communication strategy for mothers and health workers as an ongoing activity in preventing malnutrition

Abstract

The process from pregnancy to childbirth is a natural phase for women, during which spousal support plays a critical role. To enhance this support, a pocket guide can provide structured and accessible information for husbands. This study aims to assess the impact of using a pocket guide on husbands' knowledge, support, and compliance during childbirth preparation at the Bojonggede Health Center in Bogor Regency. A quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test control group design was used. The population consisted of husbands of women in their third trimester of pregnancy, selected through total sampling. The study was conducted from May to June 2024. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test revealed significant effects: the pocket guide improved knowledge (p = 0.002), support (p = 0.013), and compliance (p = 0.001) in the childbirth preparation process. The N-Gain score of 56.93% indicates moderate effectiveness. These findings suggest that pocketbooks are a useful tool in improving husbands' roles in supporting their partners through childbirth. The study concludes that pocketbooks positively influence husbands' involvement and recommends their use by health workers, especially midwives, in antenatal care settings to foster greater spousal engagement during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract

Parents need effective media to enhance their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in supporting early childhood growth and development. One such tool is the "Rayqal" application, which is designed to help mothers stimulate optimal development in toddlers. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the "Rayqal" application on improving maternal knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to toddler development. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was used. The population consisted of 80 mothers with children aged 0–59 months, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results showed significant differences in knowledge (ρ=0.000), attitudes (ρ=0.000), and behaviors (ρ=0.000) after the use of the "Rayqal" application. Specifically, in the intervention group, behavior scores increased from a pretest mean of 0.65 to a posttest mean of 1.18. These findings indicate that "Rayqal" significantly improved maternal abilities to support child development. In conclusion, the "Rayqal" application positively influences mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in stimulating toddler growth. It is recommended that the use of "Rayqal" be expanded to support SDIDTK (Early Detection and Intervention for Child Growth and Development) programs at Gunungsitoli District Health Center to help prevent developmental delays in children.
