Abstract

Fotobioreaktor experiments with fluorescent light sources have been reported can increase the efficiency of photosynthesis in fitoplankton. The results of such experiments show that the density of the fitoplankton culture in fotobioreaktor in line with increasing the intensity of light . Chlorella vulgaris grown in fotobioreaktor with sea water and walne medium. The trial was done with treatment intensity variations  of  different  light  sources, namely  light  source  LED  1  X  3  watt  LED  2  X  3  Watts.  Fotobioreaktor placed in a box by a distance of 10 cm from a source of light. Fotobioreaktor used as a comparison with Neon light source 1 X 8 Watts and Neon 2 X 8 watts. Two-factor ANOVA analysis showed that (p> 0,05), it means there are no interaction effect a between the sides and the source of light . Fotobioreaktor led light source with 1 x 3 watts capable of producing Chlorella vulgaris density equal  to  fotobioreaktor  source  of  a  fluorescent  with  2  x  8  watts.  The  result  indicates  fotobioreaktor light source  with  power  3  watt more  efficient  in  the  use  of electrical  energy  to produce  a  density  of Chlorella  vulgaris.   This  provides  an  indication  that  fotobioreaktor  with  energy-efficient  LED  light source and are able to increase the density of Chlorella Vulgaris.Keyword: Chlorella Vulgaris, Led Emitting Diode, Economical Energ

Abstract

Tauge Extract Medium (TEM) and urea can be a good choice in developing the culture of Spirulina sp., because in addition to lower cost also has deposits of macronutrient and micronutrients that support the nutritional content of Spirulina sp. This research aims to know the right combination concentration of TEM  and urea that can produce the highest levels of a protein. Combination executed is as follows: P1 : 2% TEM 80 ppm urea, P2 : 2% TEM 100 ppm urea, P3 : 2% TEM 120 ppm urea, P4 : 4% TEM 80 ppm urea, P5 : 4% TEM 100 ppm urea, P6 : 4% TEM 120 ppm urea, P7: 6% TEM 80 ppm urea, P8: 6% TEM 100 ppm urea, P9: 6% TEM 120 ppm urea, and P10 : walne (control). ANOVA test results (P<0,05) indicates that there is influence of TEM and urea with the protein of Spirulina sp. then test results of Dunnet test showing that P5 have a real difference against control with levels of 20,557 % protein in phase stationary and 19,220 % in phase exponentially. This provides indication that combination of TEM and urea has the potential to become as alternatives  fertilizer in Spirulina sp. culture. To acquire levels of high protein and low cost of fertilizer. Abstract

Pada sebuah pembangkit listrik tenaga gas, sistem pelumasan turbin sangat diperlukan. Pelumas yang telah digunakan didinginkan kembali menggunakan lube oil cooler. Lube oil cooler merupakan compact heat exchanger tipe circular tubes, continuous fins yang berfungsi sebagai pendingin oli dengan udara sebagai fluida pendingin. Pada kondisi operasional didapatkan bahwa temperatur oli keluar lube oil cooler masih cukup tinggi. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan turbin gas shut down. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, maka dilakukan analisa performa lube oil cooler existing dan melakukan redesign untuk meningkatkan effectiveness dari lube oil cooler. Analisa performa lube oil cooler existing meliputi perpindahan panas actual dan effectiveness. Sedangkan redesign dilakukan dengan variasi laju aliran massa fluida dingin (udara) dan surface designation berdasarkan standard Compact heat exchangers untuk tipe circular tubes, continuous fins. Dengan batasan yang digunakan dalam perancangan lube oil cooler adalah volume ruang penempatan heat exchanger. Perancangan menggunakan metode LMTD dan NTU meliputi perhitungan perpindahan panas pada sisi tubes dan fins, area perpindahan panas, heat transfer actual, overall heat transfer coefficient serta effectiveness. Dari perhitungan yang telah dilakukan didapatkan effectiveness dari lube oil cooler existing adalah sebesar 13.6%. Berdasarkan analisa redesign, hasil yang memiliki performa paling baik adalah surface designation 8.0-3/8 T dengan laju aliran massa udara 7.5 kg/s dengan temperatur keluar oli sebesar 342.14 K, effectiveness 29%. Adapun detail dimensi redesign adalah jumlah tubes 245, diameter tube 0.0102 m, jumlah fins/ meter 315, transverse pitch 0.022 m dan longitudinal pitch sebesar 0.0254 m.

Abstract

Lube oil cooler merupakan salah satu jenis Compact parallel flow heat exchanger tipe Z yang berfungsi untuk mendinginkan temperatur lube oil. Masih tingginya temperatur lube oil sebelum masuk turbin gas merupakan kegagalan Lube oil cooler dalam menurunkan temperatur lube oil. Hal ini disebabkan karena distribusi laju aliran pada Compact parallel flow heat exchanger tipe Z sering tidak seragam. Sehingga diperlukan improvement untuk meningkatkan effectiveness pendinginan lube oil pada Lube oil cooler. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan simulasi secara 3 dimensi dengan model turbulensi berupa k-? RNG menggunakan solver pressure based solution. Tahap awal dilakukan pengambilan data geometri Lube oil cooler pada spesifikasi desain sebagai dasar pembuatan domain, serta data dari hasil penelitian sebelumnya sebagai acuan kondisi batas dalam proses simulasi. Dari data yang didapat kemudian dilakukan simulasi Lube oil cooler pada Original model dan modifikasi inlet header yaitu trapezoidal blocker dan inlet jet dengan variasi Reynolds Number sebesar 3088, 5146, dan 7616. Berdasarkan simulasi yang telah dilakukan, dengan melakukan modifikasi inlet header berupa trapezoidal blocker pada Reynolds Number 3088 diperoleh parameter non-uniformity paling rendah sebesar 0.004695. Semakin besar Reynolds Number maka Non-uniformity flow rate dan Pressure Drop juga meningkat dan temperatur keluar semakin menurun.

Abstract

Wind energy that can be utilized into electrical energy certainly requires sufficient wind speed so that the wind turbine can rotate and produce mechanical movement in the form of rotational torque which can then be converted into electrical energy. Before the application of the technology is carried out, this study is needed to examine the potential of wind energy produced in Siman Village, Lamongan Regency. To produce a power profile from wind energy sources, wind speed measurements are first carried out, followed by mechanical modeling and wind turbine electrical modeling. The maximum electric power generated from the simulation of electrical energy conversion using a wind turbine is 11.94 Watt with a maximum wind speed of 3.5 m/s. If converted in energy units, then in a day the wind energy that can be extracted into electrical energy is 286.56 Watt.h. When compared with the daily electrical energy needs in the household sector (9364 watt.h) the electrical energy generated through modeling is able to meet 3.1% of electricity needs in a day.

Abstract

A centrifugal pump is an essential mechanical device in the Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) to distribute sterile water from the reservoir to local community houses by flowing the fluid through the pipeline. However, improper and inadequate maintenance of centrifugal pumps can result in component damage, including bearings that are broken, ripped, or damaged mechanical seals. Therefore, for the water supply to continue smoothly, proper maintenance needs to be carried out so that the engine's performance will be maintained and last longer. This study aims to conduct a maintenance analysis on centrifugal pumps utilized by the PDAM of Madiun City. The Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method was employed to assess the potential failure of a system, design, process, or service by implementing a systematic approach to analyze damage and devise maintenance strategies. The FMEA analysis revealed that the shaft of the centrifugal pump component had the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) value, which amounts to 294. The wearing ring had the lowest RPN value among the centrifugal pump components, with a value of 54. The Pareto diagram results classified six components: shaft, clutch, stuffing box, motor, impeller, and mechanical seal to recommend preventative maintenance action. Additionally, three other components suggested for corrective maintenance were the bearing, packing, and wearing rings

Abstract

Vegetable oil is biodegradable, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and renewable so that it becomes an alternative to replace mineral oil and chemicals. This research will develop a bioresin which is a mixture of epoxy with natural polymer such as palm oil. The homogenization method uses a hot plate so that the mixing reaches miscible materials. The results of bioresin testing with variations in the composition of palm oil showed that the optimal composition variation was E-MS (10%) because it had a low tensile strength value of 53.111Mpa. While the highest elongation value is 14.04767%, and has a low hardness value of 86.3 on the shore D scale. The highest density value is 1.25254(g/cm3). Judging from the standard L'loyd Register and BKI (Indonesian Classification Agency) that the values ​​of all tensile strength test results meet the standards and all variations in the composition of the test results and elongation values ​​meet the minimum criteria.

Abstract

Lube oil cooler serves to lower the temperature of the lub eoil in the gas turbine lubrication system. The problem that often occurs is the oil exit temperature is still high. This causes process failure in the lubrication system because the working temperature exceeds the allowable temperature. This failure is caused by non-uniformity flow distribution of the lube oil cooler. Therefore, further studies are needed to improve the uniformity of flow distribution. To increase the uniformity of flow, modification of the shape of the inlet header and variations of the lubricating oil capacity on the performance of the lubricating oil cooler were carried out. The research method used is numerical simulation with ANSYS FLUENT software. The simulation is carried out in 3 dimensions with a turbulence model in the form of k-ε RNG using a pressure based solution solver. Making geometry and design specifications using GAMBIT software. Geometric data is the dimensions of the lubricating oil cooling system and data from previous studies. The simulation is carried out in the form of a base line header with a modification of the inlet header, namely a multi-step blocker with variations of the Reynolds Number of 3088, 5146, and 7616. Based on the results of numerical simulations that have been carried out, the lowest Non-uniformity flow rate is at Re = 3088 sebesar, Ф = 0.01594, Exit Temperature 76.620 oC, and Pressure Drop 639.265 N/m2.

Abstract

Semakin tingginya kompetisi antara produsen produk-produk manufaktur dan kebutuhan akan kualitas produk yang dihasilkan, dengan kecepatan produksi yang tinggi, efisiensi biaya produksi yang tinggi menjadi suatu prasyarat. Produk reservoir cover merupakan sebuah bagian dari komponen master silinder rem, yang berfungsi menjadi penutup tangki cadangan minyak rem agar tidak tumpah saat terkena guncangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksprimen dengan memvariasikan putaran spindel kemudian diamati, dicatat, dan menghitung data- data hasil penelitian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi putaran spindel 1100, 1150, dan 1200 rpm, terhadap waktu dan biaya produksi reservoir cover dengan material aluminium 6061 menggunakan mesin CNC tu-3a. Dari hasil perhitungan waktu dan biaya yang dilakukan pada proses produksi reservoir cover, didapat waktu produksi sebesar 64.12 min/produk dan biaya produksi sebesar Rp. 204.000,-/produk. Abstract

3D printing technology is rapidly growing in the industrial world, especially with the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) method that uses thermoplastic filament filaments. The manufacture of these filaments requires extrusion machines and plastic seeds, with filament diameter as the main indicator of 3D Print quality. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in heating temperature on the consistency of the diameter of the results of extrusion machines for High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastics at temperatures of 160°C, 180°C, 200°C, 220°C, and 240°C and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) at temperatures of 160°C, 170°C, 180°C, 190°C, and 200°C. Each temperature variation has six filament samples, with the diameter measured every 1 cm for five measurements using a screw micrometer, resulting in 30 data per temperature variation. The data is processed using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Capability Process methods. Based on data analysis with control chat, it can be concluded that each temperature variation produces diameters that are within the control limits, allowing capability process testing. Process Capability has been conditioned, resulting in large process variations compared to the established specification range, indicating imbalances and inconsistencies in filament production so that filament diameters are often out of specification limits. The conclusion of this analysis is that temperature variation has a significant effect on the consistency of filament diameter resulting from extrusion machines with HDPE and LDPE plastic seed materials. In addition, based on variations in temperature data that produce the best filaments, the temperature is 220°C for HDPE plastic and 190°C for LDPE plastic.
