Abstract

The Sumberingin Baths, a prominent landmark of Wringinsongo Village, represent one of the region’s most promising tourism destinations, supported by facilities such as photo spots, food stalls, places of worship, and gazebos for visitor comfort. Since 2022, the site has been enriched through the installation of an Archimedes Screw Turbine Micro Hydroelectric Power Plant (MHPP) as an educational display under the DIPA Swadana Partnership Community Service program. In 2023, the same initiative facilitated the construction of a café whose architectural design uniquely integrates natural and scientific elements, offering visitors a rare and engaging thematic experience. Despite these developments, the area remains limited in mechanical attractions that combine education with entertainment. Addressing this gap, the 2024 DIPA Swadana Regular Competition Community Service program introduced the installation of a rhythmic water wheel that harmonizes nature and technology. Designed as both a visual centerpiece and an interactive learning medium, the water wheel transforms water flow into rhythmic motion by driving musical instruments, thereby creating an innovative educational adventure that blends natural beauty with technological insight.

Abstract

Sumberingin bathing area is one of the landmarks of Wringinsongo Village, Tumpang, Malang, with strong potential as a natural spring-based edu-tourism destination. Previous community service programs have supported this area through the installation of an Archimedes screw turbine micro-hydropower demonstration unit in 2022 and the development of Archimedes dye cafe in 2023, which combines natural tourism with science-based learning. However, the lack of supporting information media has limited visitors' understanding of the working principles and benefits of the mechanical demonstration tools. This community service program aims to strengthen public education facilities by developing and installing interactive information boards at cafe cepat archimedes. The method included identifying educational needs, designing the board layout and content, fabricating the information board, installing it in the tourism area, and integrating QR codes linked to digital learning materials. The information board was designed with ergonomic considerations to ensure clear readability and accessibility for children, students, and adult visitors. The result of this program is the availability of an interactive public information board that connects physical learning media with digital content, including a YouTube-based explanation of the Archimedes water turbine. This facility is expected to improve visitor learning experiences, increase the educational value of the tourism area, and support BUMDes in developing more innovative and sustainable edu-tourism services.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of defense technology within the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) requires effective, realistic training systems for Counter-Tank Weapons (CTW). Pneumatic CTW trainers have been developed as cost-effective alternatives to live-fire training; however, field tests indicate significant recoil that reduces weapon stability and shooter comfort. Unlike conventional recoil mitigation methods that rely on external dampers, springs, or structural reinforcement, this study proposes an integrated, collision-based counter-recoil mechanism embedded within the valve lever assembly that reduces recoil through internal momentum transfer without adding complex external components. This study aims to design and evaluate the proposed mechanism to reduce recoil force while maintaining firing accuracy and projectile range. Experimental tests were conducted at Politeknik Angkatan Darat under controlled conditions, using three pressure levels (10-30 bar) and three counter pad masses (0.5-1.5 kg), with three repetitions per condition. Recoil force was measured using a calibrated load cell sensor, while projectile range was recorded manually. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA to evaluate the effects of pressure and pad mass on recoil behavior. The results show that the proposed internal collision-based counter recoil system significantly reduced recoil force across all pressure levels. At 30 bar, recoil decreased from 81.7 N (without modification) to 65.7 N using a 0.5 kg pad and further decreased to 34.33 N with a 1.5 kg pad. Statistical analysis confirmed that both pressure and pad mass significantly influence recoil force (p 0.001, R² = 98.35%). In addition, the maximum firing range increased from 190.7 m to 221.7 m, indicating improved energy transfer and launcher stability. Although the 1.5 kg counterpad had the lowest recoil force, its additional mass may reduce launcher mobility and operator comfort. The 1.0 kg pad provides a balanced compromise between recoil reduction and ergonomic usability, making it more suitable for routine training applications. These findings demonstrate that the proposed internal collision-based counter recoil mechanism offers an effective, passive, lightweight, and practical solution for mitigating recoil in pneumatic CTW training launchers while preserving operational realism and ease of maintenance.

Abstract

Usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM) berperan penting dalam mendukung perekonomian daerah, terutama sektor kuliner yang membutuhkan efisiensi proses produksi. Warung Makan Watugedhe Singosari menghadapi kendala rendahnya efisiensi penghalusan bumbu karena masih menggunakan blender konvensional berkapasitas kecil. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan produktivitas mitra melalui penerapan mesin penghalus bumbu kapasitas 6 kg/proses. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi survei kebutuhan, perancangan dan pembuatan mesin, implementasi di lokasi mitra, serta pelatihan dan evaluasi hasil. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan kapasitas produksi hingga 1.100%, efisiensi waktu sebesar 65%, dan penghematan energi listrik 25%. Mitra juga mampu mengoperasikan dan merawat mesin secara mandiri. Penerapan teknologi tepat guna ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan efisiensi, produktivitas, dan kemandirian UMKM kuliner serta berpotensi direplikasi pada usaha sejenis di daerah lain.

Abstract

The evaluation of machine tool operating conditions is commonly performed based on mechanical reliability, while its direct relationship with the quality of machined surfaces is still rarely quantified. This study aims to evaluate the operating condition of a conventional lathe based on ISO 10816 by analyzing the correlation between spindle vibration and surface roughness. Experiments were conducted on a Dixon CQ6236X1000 lathe with variations in feed rate (0.104–0.835 mm/rev) and depth of cut (0–1.5 mm) at a constant spindle speed of 460 rpm. Spindle vibration was measured in terms of root mean square (RMS) velocity (mm/s) in the vertical and horizontal directions, and frequency-domain analysis was performed using Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Surface roughness was evaluated using Ra, Rq, and Rz parameters. The results show that the RMS vibration values range from 0.4 to 2.5 mm/s, which correspond to Zone B and Zone C of ISO 10816-3 class I. At Zone B, the surface roughness values are relatively low (Ra = 2–6 µm), indicating stable machining conditions. However, when the operating condition shifts to Zone C, the surface roughness increases significantly, with Ra values exceeding 10 µm under certain cutting conditions. The correlation analysis between RMS vibration and surface roughness yields a coefficient of determination of R² = 0.399, indicating a moderate positive relationship. FFT analysis reveals that the dominant vibration components are associated with spindle rotational frequency and its harmonics, indicating the presence of mild regenerative chatter without evidence of bearing defects.These findings demonstrate that ISO 10816 can be utilized not only as a mechanical acceptability standard but also as a predictive indicator of surface quality in turning operations. The results provide a useful reference for integrating vibration-based condition monitoring with machining quality control in both industrial and educational workshop environments.
