Abstract

This study aims to develop an online inquiry mathematics learning model based on Javanese Cultural Ethnomathematics. To achieve this goal, development research is carried out which refers to the educational development model from Plomp with the following stages: Initial Investigation Stage, Design/Design Stage, Realization/Construction Stage, Test Stage, Evaluation, and Revision, and Dissemination and Implementation Stage. In this study, the initial investigation stage and design stage were carried out. The initial investigation phase includes field observations, literature studies and FGD (Focus Group Discussion). The design phase is carried out by designing learning model books along with learning tools and validation is carried out. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The data and information that have been collected are then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the development stage of the learning model had reached the design stage. The results of the research achieved were after carrying out observations at school and field observations at ten Javanese Cultural sites, then FGD was carried out to obtain the syntax of an ethnomathematics-based online inquiry learning model. The syntax of the online inquiry learning model based on Javanese Culture ethnomathematics is: Orientation; Formulating the problems; Formulating the hypothesis; Collecting data; Test the hypothesis; Formulating conclusions; and Communicating results. The syntax of the learning model that has been set is used as a guide in developing an online inquiry-based mathematics learning model book based on Javanese Culture ethnomathematics. The results of the validity test showed that the learning model book was declared valid and feasible to use.

Abstract

This study aims to find out empirical data from the analysis of Electronic School Books (BSE) for students of Class IX Middle Semester I. There are 3 (three) triangles elements, namely the vertex, angle and length of the sides of the triangle, each consisting of 3 (three). But to determine the existence of a triangle requires only two elements, namely the angle and length of the sides of the triangle. However, not the two elements that are used to determine the existence of a triangle, but each must be known. To determine it enough to know 3 (three) elements of the two elements, namely: a. The length of the three sides, b. The length of both sides and one of its angles, c. The length of one side and the size of both angles. The results of the study based on literature review found an error that the BSE Student Mathematics book for class IX contained a triangular image error with 5 elements of two elements (3 side lengths and 2 angles) which proved impossible after analysis using painting and trigonometric calculations.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe: (1) the achievement and the interest in mathematics learning of the students taught using the CTL method and that of those taught using the Open-Ended method in the material on probability, (2) the effect of students’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement of mathematics on probability material, (3) the effect of students’ mathematics learning styles on their learning interest in mathematics on probability material, (4) the effect of teaching method and  students’ mathematics learning styles on their achievement and interest in learning mathematics on the probability material. This research used a quasi-experimental research design by two experimental groups. The analysis of the data used normality and homogeneity testing, the multivariate analysis, and the post-hoc test involving the Bonferroni procedure. The results of the research are as follows: (1) In the probability material, the group of students taught by the CTL method has better achievement and mathematics learning interest than that of those who are taught using the Open-Ended learning method. (2) There is an learning style effect (auditory, visual, and kinesthetic) on their achievement of mathematics in the probability material.(3) There is an effect of learning style (auditory, visual, and kinesthetic) on their learning interest in mathematics probability material. (4) There is no effect of teaching method and students’ mathematics learning styles on their  achievement and learning interest in mathematics in the probability material. Keywords: CTL, Open-Ended, learning styles, achievement, learning interest
