Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji perbedaan epistemologi hadis antara Sunni dan Syiah dengan menyoroti aspek-aspek seperti metodologi, sumber otoritas, kriteria validitas, koleksi kitab hadis, konsep imamah, klasifikasi hadis mutawatir dan ahad, serta peran akal dalam pemahaman hadis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi pustaka untuk mengeksplorasi literatur yang relevan, dengan tujuan memahami perbedaan mendalam dalam cara kedua mazhab memahami dan mengaplikasikan hadis dalam praktik keagamaan mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan epistemologi hadis antara Sunni dan Syiah tidak hanya berakar pada perbedaan teologis, tetapi juga membawa dampak praktis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari umat Islam. Sebagai contoh, pendekatan skeptis Sunni terhadap hadis ahad berbeda dengan penerimaan Syiah yang lebih fleksibel terhadap hadis-hadis yang diriwayatkan oleh para imam, yang dianggap sebagai sumber otoritas utama dalam tradisi Syiah. Penelitian ini juga menekankan pentingnya dialog antarmazhab untuk memperkuat kerukunan dan pemahaman di kalangan umat Islam, khususnya dalam menghadapi tantangan modernitas yang semakin kompleks. Dengan demikian, artikel ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang dinamika keilmuan dalam tradisi Islam dan menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi antarmazhab dalam konteks pluralisme agama yang terus berkembang. This article examines the differences in the epistemology of hadith between Sunni and Shia, focusing on aspects such as methodology, sources of authority, criteria for validity, collections of hadith, the concept of imamate, the classification of mutawatir and ahad hadith, and the role of reason in understanding hadith. This study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method to explore relevant literature, aiming to understand the deep differences in how both sects understand and apply hadith in their religious practices. The findings indicate that the differences in the epistemology of hadith between Sunni and Shia are not only rooted in theological differences but also have practical implications for the daily lives of Muslims. For instance, Sunni's more skeptical approach toward ahad hadith contrasts with the Shia's more flexible acceptance of hadith narrated by the imams, who are considered the primary source of authority in Shia tradition. The study also emphasizes the importance of inter-sect dialogue to strengthen understanding and harmony among Muslims, particularly in facing the increasingly complex challenges of modernity. Thus, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of the scholarly dynamics within Islamic tradition and underscores the importance of collaboration between sects in the context of the growing religious pluralism.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kontestasi pemahaman hadis isbāl Nahdlatul Ulama dan Islam Salafi di website NU Online dan Muslim.Or.Id. Seperti halnya al-Qur’an teks multitafsir, hadis juga dapat dipahami berbeda meskipun mutn al-hadiṡ dan transmisinya (sanad) sama. Terkhusus oleh entitas Islam (NU dan Islam Salafi) yang berbeda cita-cita dan doktrin. Seiring waktu, Nahdlatul Ulama dan Salafi tidak sebatas dakwah tatap muka (offline), tetapi merambah media baru yakni di situs NU Online dan Muslim.Or.Id. Melalui penelitian kualitatif dengan basis data kepustakaan, terdapat dua hasil bentuk kontestasi NU dan Salafi dalam memahami hadis isbāl di situs masing-masing; Pertama, menjaga norma; haram atau makruh, dan Kedua, upaya melegitimasi kelompok. NU Online sebagian besar mengambil sumber referensi dari ulama mazhab Syafi’iyyah dan membandingkan pendapat antar mazhab. Alhasil, NU memilih pendapat yang membolehkan isbāl jika bukan khuyala’. Sedangkan Muslim.Or.Id memuat pendapat ulama Hanabilah dan Malikiyyah yang mengharamkan isbāl secara total, baik khuyala’ maupun tidak.

Abstract

Criticism of socio-political phenomena through the interpretation of the Qur'an as a medium to legitimise the claims of criticism expressed, is often used by mufassirs. As Buya Hamka did, he used his interpretation to criticise the Nasakom political ideology in the era of Guided Democracy under the leadership of Soekarno. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out how Buya Hamka criticised Nasakom in Al-Azhar. Using descriptive, historical and explanatory methods. The research findings are as follows. First, Buya Hamka was a cleric who was critical of the policies of the Guided Democracy regime. Especially if the policy was considered contrary to Islamic law, such as Nasakom syncretism. Although the regime was repressive, Buya Hamka remained steadfast in fighting for the interests of Islamic ideology. Secondly, Buya Hamka made Al-Azhar as a medium to respond and criticise the socio-political reality that developed at that time. Interestingly, the criticism expressed did not come out of the main meaning of the Qur'anic text. Third, Buya Hamka's criticisms were able to disrupt the political escalation of the government, at least giving vibrations to the body of power, even though the Soekarno regime tried to muffle but he was able to get out of the massive pressure. Starting from the banning of Panji Masyarakat magazine until the climax he was imprisoned.

Abstract

This study examines the approach used in comprehending hadith through ijmā’  and its ramifications for Islamic law in Indonesia, especially the hadiths of the month of Qamariyah. This is an ahkam hadith study that employs hadith science and Islamic law theory, particularly ijmā'. This study reaches the following conclusions: Firstly, there are varieties of approaches for comprehending the customs of the month of Qamariyah, particularly in defining the month of fasting and holidays in Indonesia, which is seen as essential. This interpretation triggers the emergence of a two-poled, textual and contextually distinct views of Islamic law. Although such discrepancies can tarnish Islamic symbols, it is believed that they would spark social discord in Indonesian culture. Second, ijmā’  as a source and method of interpreting Islamic law can be used to prevent the susceptibility of social conflicts in society, particularly when debates go beyond ethical principles. Otherwise, this concern worsens when it is used by agents both individuals and groups, who frequently exploit the current circumstances for their own political gain and ultimately polarize and divide society socially. Thirdly, the ijmā' conducted by the government during the isbath session with the participation of all religious organizations in Indonesia, including MUI, NU, Muhammadiyah, DDII, PERSIS, and Al-Washliyah, is a positive development for the certainty and benefit of Islamic law. Hence, the ijmā' approach of analyzing hadith is consistent with Islamic legal standards. Musāyarah bi al-maṣāliḥ al-nās signifies that the determination of a law must be in accordance with human benefits, both individually and socially, particularly within the context of the state.

Abstract

The visual representation of the Qur'an in animated movies found in the movie Riko The Series Season I serves as a framework for this research. Children's digital content is filled with this representation, which highlights the advancements in modern science. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the Qur'an is interpreted in the movie, which highlights the importance of Quranic science in each of its segments. This study employs a qualitative methodology, interpreting data according to two classifications of al-Qur'anic reception; exegetical and functional. According to this study, the actors in the Qur'an illustrate how the text is interpreted in popular culture. In one instance, an actor named Riko poses a question, to which another actor named Qiio responds with knowledge from both science and the Qur'an. The animated video's topics center on the creation of things, human ingenuity, indications of Allah's magnificence, interpersonal relationships, and the injunction to worship. According to the author, the animated movie shifts how the Qur'an is interpreted from the real world to the realm of imagination.

Abstract

This research aims to represent the masculinity and femininity character of Umar bin Khattab as a hadith narrator contained in the hadith he narrated. Thus, the author is interested in examining the two characters of masculinity and femininity that are realized in the hadith and hadith narrators. The research method used in this research is socio-historical analysis (historical analysis) with the type of library research. The primary data that the author uses is al-Kutub at-Tis'ah. The initial search to collect the history of Umar bin Khattab could not look at al-Kutub at-Tis'ah because it could not detect the entire history of Umar bin Khattab. Therefore, apart from using software, the author also detected it through Ahmad bin Hanbal's Musnad book because the book was arranged with the names of friends. The secondary data are all references related to the research object such as history books, journals and so on. In the context of Umar bin Khattab, who was known as a masculine narrator, his feminine character was found. All of Umar bin Khattab's personal life, including his character or disposition, is not related to the hadith he narrated. There are two indications of Umar bin Khattab's character in the hadiths he narrated, namely based on the number of hadiths he narrated, of the 98 hadiths, 32 hadiths were found that described Umar bin Khattab's character, namely 27 hadiths that actualized masculine values and 5 hadiths that actualized feminine values, so that in the person of the narrator Umar is more dominantly masculine. And based on the 32 hadiths, there are 29 hadiths that discuss men and 3 hadiths that discuss women. The implication of the connection between Umar bin Khattab's masculinity value and the hadiths he narrated is that in terms of the narration of hadiths, Umar bin Khattab used his masculinity to spread and convey the Prophet's hadiths and did not abuse his masculinity to oppress the weak.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the Prophet’s hadith contribute to the character development of Muslim children at the Ummah Islamic Learning Center Foundation. This research employs a field research method with a phenomenological approach, utilizing direct observation and semi-structured interviews with teachers and students. Data were analyzed qualitatively to understand the real-life implementation of hadith in daily character-building activities. The study focuses on three hadith: the prohibition of anger, the recommendation to smile, and the prohibition of eating and drinking while standing. Based on hadith authentication, two hadith are categorized as ṣaḥīḥ and one as ḥasan. The findings indicate that the teaching of these hadith is not merely theoretical but significantly influences children’s behavior, fostering positive character traits in both personal and social contexts. This research highlights the importance of incorporating hadith-based character education in early childhood Islamic education and suggests that similar methods could be applied in other Islamic learning institutions.

Abstract

Children's education is something that really needs to be considered, so that they get knowledge that has the correct evidence. Therefore, educational materials for children also need to be checked to the maximum, especially in learning hadith given to children in kindergarten. It has been found that many of the hadith materials given to students are derived from hadith that are dhaif and not even from the Prophet Muhammad's hadith, but are considered as a hadith. The purpose of this research is to trace the hadith materials taught in the Integrated Islamic Kindergarten Schools in Padang City that are in accordance with the hadith delivered by the Prophet Muhammad. The research method used a qualitative method in the form of library research. This research model is a study of takhrij hadith related to hadith learning materials about ethics at the Integrated Islamic Kindergarten School in Padang City. The results of the research findings can be concluded that first, there are many errors in the writing of hadith learning materials due to the infiltration of hadith and writing does not refer to the books of hadith. Secondly, the author's search to the hadith books for 25 hadith that have been taught to students of Integrated Islamic Kindergartens in Padang City. The hadiths contained in the learning materials of the students of the Integrated Islamic Kindergarten in Padang City consist of 16 hadiths of saheeh quality, 2 hadiths of hasan quality, 1 hadith of Hasan saheeh status and 1 hadith of hasan gharib status, 3 hadiths of Maudhu' status and 2 hadiths whose source books were not found based on the snippets of matan taught.

Abstract

Historical evidence shows that Hadith literature in the Nusantara experienced a revival and golden age in the 20th century, marked by the emergence of arba‘īn-style compilations. This article aims to investigate the genealogy of the structure and themes found in these arba‘īn works. Employing historical and content analysis methods, the study follows three key stages: data reduction, display, and interpretation. The analysis was supported by the ATLAS.ti application as an analytical tool. The findings reveal that during the 20th century, three notable arba‘īn-style works emerged: at-Tarmasī’s collection of 22 Tṡulāṡiyyāt al-Bukhārī hadiths; Hāsyim Asy‘arī’s compilation, intended as ethical and devotional guidance for members of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU); and al-Fadānī’s compilation of 40 hadiths sourced from 40 different books and scholars. These works laid the foundational model for arba‘īn-style hadith writing in the Nusantara. The thematic focuses of the texts also vary: at-Tarmasī emphasizes the virtues of religious practices, Hāsyim Asy‘arī highlights the Prophet Muhammad’s moral teachings, and al-Fadānī concentrates on Islamic legal principles governing human relations with God and all living beings.

Abstract

The article aims to examine the style of use and validity of hadith by Abdullah Ahmad in his book Pemboeka Pintoe Soerga. This research uses a qualitative method, by describing the data obtained descriptively from the book Pemboeka Pintoe Soerga, namely the traditions that Ahmad raises in his book. To test the validity of the traditions, the author used the method of takhrij hadith by tracing them in the hadith master books and books of takhrij hadith. This research proves that Abdullah Ahmad is not careful in using hadith. This is evidenced by the fact that the traditions presented by Ahmad are not equipped with the sanad and the source of the hadith narration, and there are also errors in the wording of the traditions he contains. In terms of quality, the traditions used by Ahmad in his book are sahih, dhaif and also the redactions that are said by Ahmad to be traditions, but the redactions are not traditions but the words of Ali ibn Abi Talib which are also considered by the Shiites as traditions.
