Abstract

West Sumatra is one of the regions that has a substantial collection of Quranic manuscript in the Nusantara. One notable location is Nagari Tuo Pariangan, which houses a number of Quranic manuscript that have been handed down through generations. This article investigates the scriptural aspects (rasm) of the Quranic manuscript preserved by Aswardi, specifically with the identification numbers or codes No. 019 NM and No. 029 NM. The analysis focuses on the origin of the manuscripts and the consistency of the rasm copying in utilizing the script. This research employs a qualitative method, specifically field research, which involves collecting data from the field using observation and documentation techniques on the Quranic manuscript and interviews with the owner or custodian of the manuscripts. The results of this study indicate that the Qur'anic manuscripts from Nagari Tuo Pariangan originate from Surau Tinggi. However, due to the non-functional status of the surau, the manuscripts were brought to a house for personal preservation and became an inherited legacy. Two manuscripts were discovered, both originating from the same source. The identification process of script usage in these manuscripts revealed the utilization of two different scripts: the 'Uthmani script and the Imla'i script. The use of rasm in these manuscripts tends to be inconsistent, as both script types are employed in different verses, with 'Uthmani script used in one verse and Imla'i script in another. This inconsistency in rasm usage indicates that the tradition of copying Qur'anic manuscripts in Nagari Tuo Paringan is motivated by a tradition of writing without incorporating sufficient knowledge of rasm rules. Abstrak: Sumatera Barat merupakan satu daerah yang memiliki koleksi manuskrip mushaf Al-Qur’an cukup banyak di Nusantara. Diantaranya yaitu Nagari Tuo Pariangan yang memiliki sejumlah manuskrip mushaf Al-Qur’an dan telah diwariskan secara turun temurun. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi aspek rasm manuskrip mushaf Al-Qur’an yang disimpan oleh Aswardi dengan nomor atau kode mushaf dengan No. 019. NM dan No. 029 NM. Analisis difokus pada asal usul manuskrip serta konsistensi penyalin manuskrip dalam menggunakan rasm. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian field research, yaitu mengumpulkan data dari lapangan menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi terhadap manuskrip mushaf Al-Qur’an, serta wawancara dengan pemiliki atau pemelihara manuskrip. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa manuskrip al-Qur’an Nagari Tuo Pariangan berasal dari Surau Tinggi, namun karena surau yang tidak lagi berfungsi maka naskah tersebut dibawa ke rumah untuk disimpan secara pribadi dan menjadi warisan turun temurun. Ada dua manuskrip yang ditemukan dan berasal dari sumber yang sama. Proses identifikasi penggunaan rasm dalam manuskrip tersebut menghasilkan adanya penggunaan dua rasm yang berbeda dalam penulisannya yaitu rasm ‘uṡmānī dan rasm imlā’i. Penggunaan rasm dalam manuskrip ini cenderung tidak konsisten karena dalam penulisannya menggunakan kedua jenis rasm ini, rasm ‘utṡmānī pada satu ayat dan rasm imlā’i pada ayat lain. Inkonsistensi penggunaan rasm ini menandakan tradisi penyalinan mushaf di Nagari Tuo Paringan tersebut termotivasi dari tradisi tulis menulis yang hidup tanpa diikutsertakan dengan pengetahuan yang cukup tentang kaidah penulisan rasm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi konteks, metode interpretasi dan pemahaman Khalid Basalamah dan Abdul Somad tentang hadis isbāl di YouTube. Hasilnya, pertama, perbedaan pemahaman keduanya dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang pendidikan, sosio-budaya, mazhab yang dianut. Basalamah, lulusan Universitas Islam Madinah dan bermazhab Hanbali, mengedepankan pemahaman literal terhadap teks-teks agama dan sangat menghormati sunnah Nabi SAW. Sebaliknya, Somad, yang belajar di Al-Azhar dengan mazhab al-Syāfi’ī, memiliki pendekatan lebih moderat dan inklusif, dipengaruhi oleh interaksinya dengan masyarakat pluralis di Mesir dan Maroko. Kedua, metode interpretasi mereka juga berbeda. Basalamah cenderung tekstualis, memahami hadis secara lafziyah tanpa mempertimbangkan konteks sosial. Sementara Somad menganalisis asbāb al-wurud untuk menerapkan pemahaman kontekstualis, yang mencakup pendapat ulama terdahulu sebagai pertimbangan. Ketiga, pemahaman tentang hadis isbāl. Basalamah melarang isbāl secara mutlak, baik yang didasari oleh rasa sombong (khuyalā’) maupun tidak. sedangkan Somad berpendapat bahwa, jika tidak ada niat sombong saat pakaian melewati mata kaki, maka itu hanya mubah.

Abstract

This study examines the authoritative sources utilized by the Tafsir study community within the Batak Angkola society in Padangsidimpuan City for interpreting the verses of the Qur’an. The objective is to identify and analyze the primary references employed by this community to understand and convey Qur’anic interpretations. A qualitative research method with an ethnographic approach was used. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and a literature review relevant to the study. The findings reveal that the Tafsir study community relies on a combination of classical and modern tafsir as their main sources for Qur’anic interpretation. Additionally, local culture influences distinctive interpretive patterns among the Batak Angkola society, although some community members face challenges in integrating local cultural elements into their interpretations. The study concludes that the authoritative sources used by the Tafsir community reflect a dynamic adaptation between Islamic teachings and local culture; however, not all members incorporate local culture into their interpretations. Ultimately, this interpretive study produces a unique and contextual approach to Qur’anic exegesis.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to conduct bibliometrics analysis toward hadith mapping criticism in Indonesia ranging from 2016 to 2022 through data gathered from Google Scholar. The highlighted aspects are the main author, collaboration network, and the growing trend of hadith criticism. The data obtained is read by using quantitative method through Rbiblioshiny package. The finding of this research shows Wahyudin Darmalaksana as the most productive author with significant contribution toward hadith criticism. As for the limited collaboration in groups and the most quoted writing is written by Latifah Anwar. The trend shows a significant focus toward the view of Al-Ghazali about hadith criticism and the implementation of Schacht theory.

Abstract

The collection of speeches (CoS) written by Sheikh Abdul Lathif Syakur (SALS), a scholar who experienced both the colonial and old-order eras, serves as a thematic compilation of hadith reflecting the mid-20th century Minangkabau writing tradition. Through this collection, SALS demonstrated his expertise as a hadith scholar by analyzing the context of his era and interpreting social realities based on hadiths pertinent to society. This article aims to delve into the socio-religious vision that SALS constructs through the themes articulated in his speeches. Using a descriptive-historical method and thematic analysis, this article reveals that SALS founded his socio-religious vision on four main pillars: renewal, community integrity, moderation, and the roles of women in public life. SALS's ability to adapt hadith to his time, combined with his inclusive and human-centered approach, portrays him as a progressive scholar, challenging the rigid stereotype of hadith scholars.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan berlatar belakang mendalami studi tentang peran Rasulullah sebagai seorang edukator atau pendidik. Penelitian memiliki tujuan untuk menemukan bagaimana Rasulullah berperan sebagai pendidik yang dianalisis dari prestasi-prestasi dalam kehidupan para sahabat yang menjadi murid Rasulullah dan telah didik secara holistik, dengan mengajarkan pendidikan dengan strategi, metode dan kurikulum yang bersumber dari Allah, sehingga kompetensi daya pikir (head), kecekatan (hand) dan hati (heart) menjadi maksimal dan secara holistik menjadi kemampuan bagi murid-muridnya. Metode penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka, peneliti melakukan studi terhadap sejumlah referensi terkait buku-buku, jurnal-jurnal, maupun bacaan yang berbasis dengan studi ini, terutama menganalisis berbagai referensi-referensi terkait Rasulullah sebagai pendidik dan berbagai prestasi para sahabat, yang namanya tercantum dalam salah satu hadis. Hasil studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa adanya kompetensi holistik dalam praktik kehidupan para sahabat dan Rasulullah merupakan seorang guru yang telah mendidik muridnya dengan kemampuan menyeluruh yang terefleksi dalam berbagai prestasi sahabat dalam mereka menjalani kehidupannya.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the development and role of living Hadith in Indonesia. Using qualitative methods and a library research approach, this study highlights living Hadith research through the Dimensions website. The findings reveal that living Hadith plays a crucial role in bridging Islamic teachings with local culture, strengthening regional religious identities, and fostering harmony between religion and local wisdom. Additionally, this approach addresses the limitations of rigid and textual traditional normative methods by exploring the actualization of Hadith in social practices and traditions. Living Hadith research contributes to critically evaluating, improving, and reforming traditions to align with Islamic teachings while promoting religious moderation through tolerant, inclusive, and adaptive understandings of Indonesia's cultural diversity. Searches through Dimensions identified 220 scholarly articles on living Hadith, while VOSviewer analysis found 100 researchers contributing to this field. This study affirms that living Hadith development in Indonesia has significantly advanced since the early 2000s, driven by contributions from academics at UIN, IAIN, and STAIN. It highlights the importance of living Hadith in ensuring the relevance of Islam to contemporary changes while preserving the values of togetherness in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

This research aims to represent the masculinity and femininity character of Umar bin Khattab as a hadith narrator contained in the hadith he narrated. Thus, the author is interested in examining the two characters of masculinity and femininity that are realized in the hadith and hadith narrators. The research method used in this research is socio-historical analysis (historical analysis) with the type of library research. The primary data that the author uses is al-Kutub at-Tis'ah. The initial search to collect the history of Umar bin Khattab could not look at al-Kutub at-Tis'ah because it could not detect the entire history of Umar bin Khattab. Therefore, apart from using software, the author also detected it through Ahmad bin Hanbal's Musnad book because the book was arranged with the names of friends. The secondary data are all references related to the research object such as history books, journals and so on. In the context of Umar bin Khattab, who was known as a masculine narrator, his feminine character was found. All of Umar bin Khattab's personal life, including his character or disposition, is not related to the hadith he narrated. There are two indications of Umar bin Khattab's character in the hadiths he narrated, namely based on the number of hadiths he narrated, of the 98 hadiths, 32 hadiths were found that described Umar bin Khattab's character, namely 27 hadiths that actualized masculine values and 5 hadiths that actualized feminine values, so that in the person of the narrator Umar is more dominantly masculine. And based on the 32 hadiths, there are 29 hadiths that discuss men and 3 hadiths that discuss women. The implication of the connection between Umar bin Khattab's masculinity value and the hadiths he narrated is that in terms of the narration of hadiths, Umar bin Khattab used his masculinity to spread and convey the Prophet's hadiths and did not abuse his masculinity to oppress the weak.

Abstract

Pada zaman sekarang pemahaman hadis misoginis terhadap perempuan belum bisa dinegasikan secara sempurna. Hal ini disebabkan oleh pemahaman yang tekstual dan tidak komprehensif dalam memaknai hadis. Begitupun dengan pemahaman para ulama terdahulu sesuai konteksnya, bias apabila dipahami pada zaman sekarang. Studi ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi konstruksi pemikiran Quraish Shihab terhadap hadis “penciptaan Siti Hawa dari tulang rusuk Nabi Adam yang bengkok” melalui pemikirannya yang ramah gender dan tafsir progresifnya. Studi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan resiprokal (qiraat mubadalah). Hasil pembacaan terhadap literatur menunjukkan bahwa maksud dari tulang rusuk yang bengkok bukanlah bentuk pelecehan, akan tetapi hanyalah sebagai ilustrasi. Kemudian, filosofi tulang rusuk yang bengkok adalah kecenderungan sikap perempuan, yang mana apabila dikeraskan akan mendapatkan kesulitan bagi laki-laki dalam memperbaikinya. Hal ini bertujuan supaya kaum laki-laki menyadari dan memahami karakter perempuan, agar terciptanya sikap bijaksana terhadap perempuan. Distingsi pemaknaan hadis tersebut dengan mufassir lain yakni, mufassir lain menafsirkan tulang rusuk yang bengkok adalah kecenderungan sikap perempuan yang mudah bengkok, lemah dan mudah terpengaruh. Maka Pemikiran Muhammad Quraish Shihab bisa menjadi rekomendasi dalam memahami hadis-hadis yang bernuansa misoginis terkhusus pembahasan hadis kekerasan seksual (diciptakan perempuan dari tulang rusuk Nabi Adam). Hal ini bertujuan agar pembiasan pemahaman dan tindakan terhadap perempuan bisa diminimalisir dengan baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kontestasi pemahaman hadis isbāl Nahdlatul Ulama dan Islam Salafi di website NU Online dan Muslim.Or.Id. Seperti halnya al-Qur’an teks multitafsir, hadis juga dapat dipahami berbeda meskipun mutn al-hadiṡ dan transmisinya (sanad) sama. Terkhusus oleh entitas Islam (NU dan Islam Salafi) yang berbeda cita-cita dan doktrin. Seiring waktu, Nahdlatul Ulama dan Salafi tidak sebatas dakwah tatap muka (offline), tetapi merambah media baru yakni di situs NU Online dan Muslim.Or.Id. Melalui penelitian kualitatif dengan basis data kepustakaan, terdapat dua hasil bentuk kontestasi NU dan Salafi dalam memahami hadis isbāl di situs masing-masing; Pertama, menjaga norma; haram atau makruh, dan Kedua, upaya melegitimasi kelompok. NU Online sebagian besar mengambil sumber referensi dari ulama mazhab Syafi’iyyah dan membandingkan pendapat antar mazhab. Alhasil, NU memilih pendapat yang membolehkan isbāl jika bukan khuyala’. Sedangkan Muslim.Or.Id memuat pendapat ulama Hanabilah dan Malikiyyah yang mengharamkan isbāl secara total, baik khuyala’ maupun tidak.
