Abstract

Abstract

Global Moran’s I dan LISA (Local Indicator of Spatial Autocorrelation) digunakan untuk menganalisis data.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of growth failure in toddlers that leads to reduced productivity and susceptibility to degenerative diseases. The prevalence of stunting in West Java Province was the highest on the island of Java in 2018-2020. The objective of this study was to analyze the distribution map and spatial autocorrelation for stunting prevalence in West Java Province, with considering the spatial effects. The present study employed an ecological design with a spatial approach. The research data was obtained from Open Data Jabar, which is freely accessible via the website. The analysis was conducted using GeoDa software. The results indicate an increase in the areas demonstrating spatial effects between stunting and breastfeeding each year (2018–2020). Concurrently, the spatial implications of poverty on stunting necessitate further examination in the western region of West Java Province, particularly in Sumedang, Tasikmalaya, and Indramayu.

Abstract

Nearly 30% of Indonesian population is adolescent. Indonesia has various programs to improve the health status of adolescents from various sectors. However, the program intended for adolescent reproductive health has not been fully utilized, with one of the reasons being improper management by primary healthcare on cross-sector cooperation causing a knowledge gap among adolescents about the program. Purpose: This study aims to identify the perception of stakeholders from various sectors on adolescent health program in Surabaya, East Java. Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive approach through interviews and FGDs to relevant stakeholders. Research subjects came from elements of government (health, education, religion, family planning, and social), NGOs, media (radio, newspaper media), teachers (representatives of 10 high schools in Surabaya), parents (Family Health Empowerment group). Data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Results: Every governmental office has a program for adolescents, but most are only providing information. Therefore, NGOs complete programs have not been implemented by the government such as a peer educator program for high-risk community. The media also has youth programs that are tailored to the needs or trends. Teachers and parents as having the closest control with adolescents, also play a role in providing information and accompanying adolescents. The various roles of the various stakeholder groups require synergy efforts to avoid overlapping. Conclusion: Adolescents in Surabaya are considered unhealthy and engage in risky behaviors by relevant stakeholders. Various programs have been implemented to support adolescent health. However, different perspectives on implementing adolescent health programs can cause conflict between stakeholders or confusion among adolescents. The diversity of stakeholders involved in adolescent health programs also needs to be encouraged.

Abstract

Introduction: Student mental well-being was a concern prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. During COVID-19, mental health problems increased due to heightened anxiety and concern. Family and friends' support plays a crucial role in maintaining students' mental health. This study examines the impact of social support on students' mental well-being during the pandemic. Methods: This analytic observational study employed a cross-sectional design with a total of 400 active student participants. Psychometric instruments used in this study were the Sallis Social Support Scale and the short version of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-Being Scale (WEMWBS-7). Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation to determine the relationship between family and friends' support and students' mental well-being. Results: There was no significant relationship between family support and students’ mental well-being. However, only support from friends showed a statistically significant positive relationship with students' mental well-being (r = 0.176, p = 0.001), while support from family was not significantly associated (p = 0.073). Conclusion: Social support from friends played a crucial role in maintaining students' mental well-being during COVID-19. Encouraging peer support, such as reminding each other to complete tasks, can positively influence mental health.

Abstract

Purpose: Adolescents are increasingly immersed in social media environments that encourage curated self-presentation and social comparison. Global prevalence estimates from the World Health Organization indicate that 5.5% of adolescents aged 15–19 meet diagnostic criteria for anxiety disorders. While prior research emphasized screen time duration, emerging evidence suggests that how young people engage— primarily through passive, emotionally reactive, or appearance-focused behaviors—may be more predictive of internalising symptoms such as anxiety and depression. This systematic review aimed to synthesize observational evidence on associations between adolescent social media use and internalising symptoms, with particular attention to engagement patterns, psychosocial mediators, and contextual moderators. Methods: A comprehensive search across PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost, and AI-assisted platforms was conducted between April 14 and 25, 2025. Inclusion criteria were: observational design, adolescent population (10–19 years), validated measures of anxiety/depression, and exposure to social media use. Ten studies published between 2018 and 2025 met eligibility criteria (N=10). Data were synthesized narratively, with quality assessed using the JBI checklist. Results: Across studies, problematic use and passive scrolling were more strongly associated with anxiety and depression than total time spent online. Sleep disruption and appearance-based comparison consistently emerged as mediators, while gender, emotional reactivity, and socioeconomic background moderated vulnerability. Girls and gender- diverse adolescents reported higher psychological reactivity. Protective factors included physical activity and family support. Most studies were cross-sectional; only one referenced neurobiological pathways. Conclusion: Digital mental health risks in adolescents are driven less by screen exposure time and more by emotionally charged engagement styles. Interventions should prioritize resilience-building and digital literacy, while future research must incorporate longitudinal and biopsychosocial frameworks to capture the complexity of these associations better.

Abstract

Indonesia is ranked first as the country with the highest smoking prevalence in ASEAN. The aims of this study is to find prioritized areas with smoking problems in Indonesia in the last seventeen years (2007-2023).  Research uses secondary data from Basic Health Research 2007, 2010, 2013, 2018, and the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. The smoking problem in Indonesia is shown through the variables of smoker prevalence and the average cigarettes smoked per day. Data was mapped using the QGIS application.  The result show that there is a downward trend in smoking prevalence and the average number of cigarettes smoked per day in all provinces. The highest peak for smoking problems, where all provinces were in the high category for both variables in 2010. The provinces of West Java and West Nusa Tenggara need to receive attention because the prevalence of smoking is always in the high category from 2007 to 2023.  The conclusion is  that the distribution of smoking problems in Indonesia in the last 17 years shows that the provinces of West Java and West Nusa Tenggara are provinces that are consistently in the high category. Further research needs to be done on the factors that influence the high prevalence of smokers in West Java and West Nusa Tenggara, as well as the effectiveness of government policy implementation in these two provinces.
