Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of domestic investment and foreign direct investment on employment absorption in Indonesia during the 2015–2024 period from the perspective of Islamic economics. Methodology: The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data analysis. The data were obtained from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). Findings: The results indicate that both domestic investment and foreign direct investment have a significant effect on employment absorption, both partially and simultaneously. The coefficient of determination of 34.1% suggests that variations in employment absorption can be explained by these two variables, while the remaining 65.9% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. From the perspective of Islamic economics, investment is not solely intended to generate profits but must also uphold the principles of justice, public welfare (maslahah), and social well-being through job creation and the reduction of social inequality. This study is expected to serve as a reference for formulating investment policies that prioritize labor-intensive sectors to increase employment absorption, reduce unemployment, and promote a more inclusive and equitable distribution of welfare in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and project the growth of sectoral Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Indonesia and its implications for investment requirements and additional labor demand. The study utilizes labor and GDP data by industrial sector at constant prices for the period 2003–2025. The analytical method employed is the Incremental Labour Output Ratio (ILOR) approach, which projects labor requirements based on sectoral output growth. The results indicate that an increase in GDP in the agricultural sector does not significantly contribute to the expansion of employment absorption within the sector. In contrast, GDP growth in the community services, mining, and trade sectors shows greater potential in generating additional employment opportunities. Furthermore, additional labor in the agricultural sector does not produce optimal output growth and may potentially reduce productivity in the future. Meanwhile, increased labor in the mining sector is projected to generate higher output growth in the coming periods. These findings suggest that the dynamics of sectoral GDP growth have varying implications for employment absorption and productivity across economic sectors in Indonesia.

Abstract

The money market is an essential component of the financial system that plays a significant role in short-term liquidity management and the implementation of monetary policy. An efficient and liquid money market is considered a crucial factor in maintaining the stability of a country’s financial system. This study aims to analyze the role of the money market in supporting financial system stability in Indonesia and to identify the mechanisms that influence the effectiveness of this role. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature study method based on various scientific publications, financial institution reports, and policy documents relevant to the research topic. The data used are secondary data obtained from academic journals, textbooks, and official publications from financial institutions such as Bank Indonesia and Otoritas Jasa Keuangan. Data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive analysis by examining theories and previous research findings related to the money market and financial system stability. The results indicate that the money market plays a strategic role in maintaining financial system stability through banking liquidity management, supporting the transmission of monetary policy, and improving the efficiency of fund distribution within the financial system. Therefore, the development of a deeper, more transparent, and integrated money market is an important factor in strengthening financial system stability in Indonesia.

Abstract

Consumption is an economic activity inseparable from human life. From an Islamic economic perspective, consumption activities are not only oriented towards fulfilling needs and satisfaction but must also be based on sharia values. This article aims to analyze the concept of consumption in Islamic economics and the principles that govern it. The research method used is a qualitative literature study approach, reviewing various sources such as books, journals, and other relevant scientific references. The results of the discussion indicate that consumption in Islam emphasizes the principles of halal (permissible) and thayyib (good), the prohibition of excess (israf), and the importance of balancing individual needs and social responsibility. Therefore, the application of Islamic consumption principles is expected to create well-being that is not only material but also spiritual.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of economic growth on community welfare in Bandar Lampung City for the period 2013–2023. Using a quantitative approach with secondary data from BPS (Statistics Indonesia) Bandar Lampung and the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), this research employs simple linear regression analysis and the Human Development Index (HDI) as the primary welfare indicator. The results show that economic growth has a significant and positive effect on community welfare in Bandar Lampung City. A 1% increase in economic growth leads to an increase in the HDI by 0.42 points. The average HDI of Bandar Lampung reached 75.23 during the study period, placing it in the high human development category. However, the pace of HDI improvement does not always align proportionally with economic growth rates, indicating that growth inclusivity and equitable distribution remain key policy challenges. The findings suggest that policymakers should prioritize pro-poor growth strategies and strengthen social protection programs to ensure that economic growth effectively translates into improved community welfare.

Abstract

This research examines the effects of digital economic development and monetary regulations on the resilience of the Indonesian rupiah exchange rate. The research uses an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to test the dynamic relationship between periods. The findings indicate that monetary policy instruments, such as interest rates, as well as growth in the digital economy, have a significant impact on exchange rate fluctuations. Although digitalization enhances transaction efficiency and expands access to global markets, it also creates more complex volatility in exchange rates. The study’s conclusion indicates that monetary policy and developments in the digital economy mutually influence exchange rates, so policymakers need to implement comprehensive strategies to maintain macroeconomic stability in the digital era.

Abstract

The money market plays a very crucial role as the primary channel in the monetary policy transmission system to achieve macroeconomic stability. This study aims to analyze in depth the various challenges and opportunities arising from the digitalization process of money market instruments on the effectiveness of monetary policy transmission in Indonesia. By applying a qualitative descriptive method based on literature study. research data were collected from various scientific literatures, monetary authority reports, and regulations regarding financial technology. The research results show that the digitalization of money market instruments offers great opportunities including increased real-time market transparency, transaction cost efficiency, and acceleration of the interest rate pass-through mechanism to the real sector. However, this digital transformation also brings significant challenges including cybersecurity risks, potential for high liquidity volatility, and the urgency of more responsive.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of money supply, interest rates, and inflation on economic growth in Indonesia for the 2012-2024 period using the VECM with quarterly data of 52 observations. The cointegration test results indicate a long-term relationship among the variables. In the long run, inflation has a significant effect on GDP, while money supply has a negative but very small effect, and interest rates have no significant effect. Overall, the three monetary variables collectively contribute less than 1% to GDP variations, thus they are not the main factors driving economic growth. The policy implications of these findings include the need to prioritize inflation control and reevaluate the effectiveness of interest rate instruments and money supply expansion in promoting growth. The contribution of this research lies in using a study period that covers various economic shocks (taper tantrum, pandemic, and recovery) and applying the VECM method capable of separating short-run and long-run effects. From the perspective of Islamic economics, these findings support the principles of distributive justice and the prohibition of usury (riba), as interest-based instruments prove ineffective, making the development of Sharia-based monetary policy through profit-sharing schemes a more relevant and equitable alternative.
