Abstract

One of the reptiles whose natural habitat is in the sea and has the ability to migrate very far is the turtle. Threats that endanger the turtle population, both directly and indirectly, come from natural sources and from human activities. The factors that influence turtle nesting ground were predators, sand grain size, substrate humidity, substrate temperature, beach width, coastal vegetation and beach slope. Humans as one of the predators of the availability of turtles in nature by taking turtle eggs. The aim of the study was to determine the nesting habitat characteristics of the Lekang turtle (Lepidochelys Olivaceae) in the coastal area of Gampong Geulumpang, East Sulu, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency. This research was carried out in November 2021, which took place on the coast of the village of Gelumpang, East Sulu, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency. Abstract

This study discusses civil war and ideology conflict represented in Alex Irvine's Transformers: Exodus. It aims to analyze how the ideological conflict contributes to civil war in the novel and the moral messages that the readers can learn from the narrative. Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony and Terry Eagleton's theory of ideological features are used to examine ideology's role, and the moral-philosophical approach is used to analyze moral values. The findings suggest the existence of three ideologies: the Cybertronian traditions, the Autobots' ideology, and the Decepticons' ideology. In addition, this study finds that the novel contains moral values related to peace, toleration, and diplomacy.

Abstract

Background: The literature on the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in non-surgical hospitalized patients reveals a multifaceted approach to addressing this significant health concern. VTE, which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a leading cause of preventable morbidity and mortality within this population. The urgency for effective preventive measures is underscored by the fact that a substantial percentage of hospitalized patients are at risk due to factors such as immobility, obesity, and advanced age (Forgerini et al., 2019). Literature Review: The literature also reveals significant gaps in adherence to prophylaxis protocols. Studies indicate that while evidence-based measures are critical for reducing VTE incidence, adherence remains inconsistent. The need for systematic risk assessment models (RAMs) is emphasized, as these tools can help identify high-risk patients and tailor prophylactic strategies accordingly. Moreover, the literature discusses the importance of integrating clinical decision support systems to enhance the implementation of VTE prophylaxis protocols. Conclusion: In conclusion, the literature underscores the complexity of VTE prevention in non-surgical hospitalized patients, emphasizing the need for improved adherence to prophylactic measures, effective risk assessment strategies, and the integration of clinical decision support systems. The current gaps in practice highlight the necessity for ongoing education and training for healthcare providers, as well as the implementation of comprehensive strategies to enhance patient outcomes and reduce the incidence of VTE.

Abstract

Uric acid, or gout, is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by the accumulation of monosodium urate crystals in the joints. This buildup occurs due to increased uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia), which can result from excessive uric acid production or inefficient excretion through the kidneys. This study aims to determine the relationship between elderly knowledge and the incidence of gout in Blangreuling Village. The research employs a cross-sectional design and involves elderly individuals in Blangreuling Village. The total population consists of 36 people, with the sample also comprising 36 individuals using a total sampling technique. Data was collected through questionnaires and secondary data, then analyzed using descriptive analysis to identify the relationship between elderly knowledge and gout incidence. The study results show that 22 elderly individuals (61.11%) have good knowledge, while 14 individuals (38.88%) have less knowledge. Additionally, 20 elderly individuals (55.55%) were diagnosed with gout. Bivariate analysis results indicate a significant relationship between knowledge and gout incidence (p < 0.05). This study is expected to contribute to a better understanding of gout among the elderly in rural communities and inform targeted public health interventions, as well as the development of effective prevention and management strategies for gout in the elderly population of Blangreuling Village.

Abstract

In learning mathematics, reflective thinking is often overlooked due to an excessive emphasis on final results, which causes students to struggle in evaluating and reconstructing their problem-solving processes. Reflective thinking skills are necessary for students to solve problems, including numeracy. This study adopts a qualitative approach, focusing on the problem-solving process of two seventh-grade students with a Dependent Field (DF) cognitive style and similar initial mathematical abilities. Data were collected through the Group Embedded Figures Test, in-depth interviews, and initial mathematical and reflective thinking ability tests. Based on the research results, DF students couldn't analyze arguments from various perspectives and see if there were deeper implications. This finding reflects the characteristics of DF, who don't perform the 'result in context' process, leading to a lack of ability to understand, interpret, and use numerical results in concrete/situational contexts. This also includes the ability to relate numbers to real-world situations, make appropriate interpretations, and take suitable actions based on those numerical results. The results of this study can serve as a foundation for designing differentiated instruction that emphasizes the development of reflective thinking skills, particularly in numeracy, through approaches involving technology, models, pedagogy, or other learning strategies.

Abstract

The issue of plastic waste has become a global concern that urgently needs to be addressed. On the other hand, agricultural waste also poses its own challenges. Indonesia is an agrarian country where the agricultural sector plays a significant and vital role in the national economy. One of the major agricultural products in Indonesia, particularly in West Sumatra, is areca nut (betel nut). The areca palm sheath is largely underutilized by farmers, often left unused or burned, which in turn leads to another issue—air pollution. The transformation of organic solid waste into eco-friendly products is still rarely implemented. This study aims to design, assemble, and test a simple press mold to process areca palm sheaths into environmentally friendly food containers. The results show that the mold was successfully designed with dimensions of 140 mm x 140 mm x 20 mm, using ST 42 material. Mold testing with temperature variations (100°C, 150°C, and 175°C) and durations (1 minute, 2 minutes, and 5 minutes) indicated that a temperature of 150°C produced the best results in terms of color and shape accuracy. This innovation is expected to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in reducing plastic waste and utilizing areca palm sheath waste.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic non-communicable disease that can lead to severe complications such as stroke and heart problems. A non-pharmacological approach like warm foot soak therapy offers a simple and effective method for lowering blood pressure. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of warm foot soak therapy on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest method, 13 participants with mild to moderate hypertension underwent a single 15-minute session of warm foot soak therapy. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a digital sphygmomanometer. On average, systolic blood pressure dropped from 180.15 mmHg to 157.77 mmHg, while diastolic pressure decreased from 101.08 mmHg to 96.08 mmHg. Most participants (92.3%) experienced a reduction in blood pressure. The findings indicate that warm foot soak therapy is effective in lowering blood pressure and can serve as a practical non-pharmacological nursing intervention in community health settings.
