Abstract

Background: Optimal levels of public health can be achieved through various efforts, one of which is disease prevention through hand washing with soap (CTPS). School-age children are prone to various diseases due to low CTPS behavior. The aim of the study was to determine the factors related to CTPS among students at SMPN 3 Kota Sabang. Methods: The research method uses descriptive analytics with a cross- sectional approach. This research was conducted at SMPN 3 Kota Sabang with a sample of 85 students in class VII and VIII. Data collection uses  a structured questionnaire instrument. Data analysis uses univariate analysis to display the frequency distribution of each variable and bivariate analysis uses the chi-square test. Result: The results show that there is a relationship between knowledge (p value = 0.001), attitude (p value = 0.002), and the role of health workers (p value = 0.000) with CTPS behavior, and there is no relationship between the teacher's role (p value = 0.462) with CTPS behavior. Recommendation:  It is hoped that School Health Unit (UKS) officers can provide more extensive education  to students about the benefits of CTPS.

Abstract

Background: The health status of students is currently still considered inadequate, as many health problems persist, particularly among school-aged children. One of the major issues is poor clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). This study aims to identify the factors associated with clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) at SD Negeri 1 Ronga-Ronga, Gajah Putih Subdistrict, Bener Meriah District. Method: This research is a descriptive-analytic study using a cross-sectional design, with a sample size of 63 students. Primary data were collected through interviews with respondents, while secondary data were obtained from the Aceh Health Office, local health centers, and relevant literature. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Result: The study showed that 52.4% of students had poor PHBS, 54.0% had low knowledge, 57.1% demonstrated negative attitudes, 61.9% indicated a significant role of teachers, and 65.1% acknowledged parental involvement. Bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and PHBS (p=0.001), attitude and PHBS (p=0.001), teacher's role and PHBS (p=0.021), and parental role and PHBS (p=0.004). Recommendation: It is recommended to further develop and strengthen existing health programs, such as PHBS, by integrating the establishment of "Little Doctors" in schools. This initiative is expected to enhance the effectiveness of health message delivery and support student empowerment in promoting healthy behaviors.

Abstract

Background: Cases of type II Diabetes melitus (DM) in the working area of the Indrajaya Health Center, Pidie Regency, increased from 500 cases in 2017 to 533 cases in 2019. The increase in the number of cases is an indicator that the behavior of controlling type II DM is not optimal. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between type II DM control behavior and blood glucose levels in patients in the working area of the Indrajaya  Community Health Center, Indrajaya District. Method: This research is an analytic descriptive with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 66 patients was determined through the Random Sampling Technique. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test with SPSS version 20. Result: there is a relationship between physical activity (p value = 0.012), lifestyle (p value = 0.036), diet (p value = 0.002), and medication adherence (p value = 0.006) with blood glucose levels in DM patients and there is no relationship between smoking behavior (p value = 0.326) with blood glucose levels in DM patients. Recommendation: It is hoped that health workers can increase counseling to the community about preventing DM and encourage morning exercise with the community at least once a week.

Abstract

Background:Tinnitus is a health disorder that risks reducing worker productivity. Tinnitus is a common risk experienced by workers with high noise levels and long duration of noise exposure. Hearing loss in coffee factory workers can be caused by several factors including noise intensity, age, working hours per day, and length of service. The production section is a section that has a high risk of noise, this section carries out coffee grinding activities which require them to work optimally to produce quality products. Method: This research is descriptive analytic with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were all workers from 3 coffee factories in Bener Meriah, totaling 47 people. The sampling technique uses the total population technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire, then statistical tests were carried out using the chi-square test, and data were analyzed using SPSS. Results: All workers (100%) complained of tinnitus with varying degrees of severity, 89.4% of workers were young, 87.2% had no previous history of ear disease, 72.3% of working hours did not meet standards, 61.7% had been working for a long time. From the results of statistical tests, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between age (p value=0.002), working hours per day (p value=0.037), length of service (p value=0.001), and complaints of tinnitus in coffee milling factory workers. Only one variable, a history of ear disease (p value=0.078), was not associated with tinnitus complaints. Recommendation: It is recommended that every coffee grinding factory owner provide ear protective equipment (APT) for every worker in his factory to avoid complaints of tinnitus.
