Abstract

The widespread use of metaphors in medical therapy dialogues and the heightened mental health issue in South Korea made researchers want to study further how the unique forms of metaphors are produced, one of which is depression. This study aims to find out what conceptualizations of depressive metaphors are produced in mental health therapy dialogs between the writer and his psychiatrist which are described in the Korean essay book 죽고 싶지만 떡볶이는 먹고 싶어 (Jukkko Sipjjiman Ttokppokkineun Mokko Sipo) 'I Want to Die But I Want to Eat Tteokbokki ' by Baek Se-Hee with a study of cognitive semantics. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the method of collecting data using listening and note taking techniques. The data analysis method used in this study is Metaphor Identification Procedure Vrije Universiteit (MIPVU) procedure. Data presentation methods used are formal and informal methods. As a result, there are four conceptual metaphors of depression that are formed, namely DEPRESSION IS A PRISON, DEPRESSION IS A SPINNING WHEEL, DEPRESSION IS DARKNESS, and DEPRESSION IS WAR. These four conceptualizations are formed from various metaphorical expressions expressed by the author and his psychiatrist regarding the depression experienced by the writer.

Abstract

Social criticism of the phenomenon happened on social media with popularized hashtags like #percumalaporpolisi on Twitter. Police officer incompetence in a sexual assault case in Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi, triggers citizens to create this hashtag. This research aims to describe the negative representation of Police officers by Indonesian Twitter users through #percumalaporpolisi. The qualitative research method used in this research is Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis theory. Indonesian Police officers explicitly and implicitly represented through words usage, and/or sentences in negative ways. On the other side, Indonesian netizens (Twitter users) have been known for their distrust towards police officers for a long time, tending to use harsh words, posting their disagreement towards something harshly, and becoming the most impolite netizens in southeast Asia. Lastly, Police officers have had several controversial histories, followed by the exposed scandal of sexual harassment in Luwu Timur, explained as a social practice dimension. The negative representations are exposed both explicitly and implicitly through words and sentences. The representations were affected by how netizens interacted on social media perceiving police officers and the behavior of the netizens. It was getting worse as scandals in the police institutions were also supported by police impunity.

Abstract

The Dahon plant (Nypa Rruticans) is a multipurpose plant whose existence has begun to be threatened today along with the rapid development of tourist destinations in Pangandaran. The lack of development of dahon sugar craftsmen in Pangandaran considering that the process of making dahon sugar requires special skills and perseverance whereas community resources in Parapat Hamlet are quite potent. This community service program aims to provide skills to process dahon plants into sugar for prospective groups of dahon craftsmen regularly. Service activities are carried out through counseling techniques and direct practice. The counseling carried out was in the form of providing motivational materials and counseling on post-harvest cultivation and nipah processing, as well as the practice of making dahon sugar. After counseling and practice of making dahon sugar to the target partners of the Berkah Nipah Self-Help Group, it appears that there are positive and encouraging developments for the target partners, as follows: (1) the target partners get additional insight and knowledge about the functions and benefits of the nipah plant scientifically, ( 2) target partners get new experience in the practice of making dahon sugar, (3) target partners are optimistic and enthusiastic to continue making dahon sugar in Parapat Hamlet, Pangandaran, and (4) knowledge and abilities of Mr. Sarli as an instructor can finally be lowered to young people. Through the results of this service activity, it is hoped that new dahon craftsmen will emerge and the ongoing development of the younger generation an ongoing basis.ABSTRAK Tanaman Dahon (Nypa Rruticans) merupakan tanaman serba guna yang keberadaannya mulai terancam saat ini seiring dengan pesatnya perkembangan destinasi wisata di Pangandaran. Kurangnya pengembangan pengrajin gula dahon di Pangandaran mengingat proses pembuatan gula dahon memerlukan keterampilan dan ketekunan khusus padahal sumber daya masyarakat di Dusun Parapat cukup potensial. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan keterampilan mengolah tanaman dahon menjadi gula bagi calon kelompok pengrajin dahon secara rutin. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan melalui teknik penyuluhan dan praktek langsung. Penyuluhan yang dilakukan berupa pemberian materi motivasi dan penyuluhan budidaya pasca panen dan pengolahan nipah, serta praktik pembuatan gula dahon. Setelah dilakukan penyuluhan dan praktek pembuatan gula dahon kepada mitra binaan Kelompok Swadaya Berkah Nipah, terlihat adanya perkembangan yang positif dan menggembirakan bagi mitra binaan, sebagai berikut: (1) mitra binaan mendapatkan tambahan wawasan dan pengetahuan tentang fungsi dan manfaat tanaman nipah secara ilmiah, (2) mitra binaan mendapatkan pengalaman baru dalam praktek pembuatan gula dahon, (3) mitra binaan optimis dan antusias untuk terus membuat gula dahon di Dusun Parapat, Pangandaran, dan (4) ilmu dan kemampuan Pak Sarli sebagai instruktur akhirnya bisa diturunkan ke generasi muda. Melalui hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan akan muncul pengrajin-pengrajin dahon baru dan pembinaan generasi muda secara berkesinambungan.

Abstract

Artikel ini ditulis sebagai luaran kegiatan pelaksanaan program Pengabdian pada Masyarakat terkait Pengembangan Desa Ramah Anak Berbasis Literasi Digital pada tahap awal. Kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat dilakukan di Desa Citengah, Sumedang Selatan di bawah payung tema besar “Unpad Bermanfaat”. Pada tahap ini dilakukan inventarisasi kebutuhan di lapangan sebagai persiapan pengembangan Desa Ramah Anak berbasis literasi digital bekerjasama dengan mahasiswa KKNM. Hasil observasi menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bahasa Sunda sudah langka di Desa Citengah. Melalui metode penyuluhan, lalu dilakukan pemberian beberapa materi antara lain materi bahasa Sunda untuk mempertahankan budaya lokal dan pemberian materi bahasa Inggris untuk persiapan literasi digital. Metode yang dilakukan ada beberapa tahap yaitu observasi lapangan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dasar menuju pengembangan desa Ramah Anak berbasis literasi digital. Metode berikutnya terkait hasil observasi yaitu penyuluhan antara lain dalam bentuk pemberian materi bahasa Sunda dan bahasa Inggris. Metode terakhir yaitu pemberian materi pendidikan sehubungan dengan mitra PPM ini adalah guru-guru PAUD, guru-guru Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK), guru-guru Sekolah Dasar, dan para orang tua yang memiliki anak usia sekolah. Hasil kegiatan Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat pada tahap awal ini berupa pembekalan bahasa dipersiapkan untuk melakukan Pengabdian pada tahap berikutnya yaitu Pengembangan Desa Ramah Anak Berbasis Literasi Digital.

Abstract

This study investigates the patterns of kinship address term usage within the family interactions of the Malay community in Marok Kecil Village, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research examines how speakers choose address terms based on relational roles such as age, kinship status, and social hierarchy. Data were collected through observation, audio recordings, field notes, and structured interviews with 100 participants from 50 families, covering a range of age groups and kinship positions. The findings reveal three dominant usage patterns: nonreciprocal downward (older to younger), nonreciprocal upward (younger to older), and symmetrical reciprocal (among peers). The choice of address terms is shaped by factors such as generational differences, situational formality, and sociocultural norms. The study employs Ervin-Tripp’s (1972) alternation and co-occurrence rules to interpret how linguistic behavior reflects familial roles and traditional values in the Riau Malay context. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how language is used to encode social relationships and maintain cultural continuity within traditional family systems.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis alternasi bunyi vokal pada kata serapan dari bahasa Indonesia ke dalam bahasa Kaili dialek Ledo dan menggambarkan pola kaidah fonologis dari alternasi tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian bersumber dari Kamus Kaili Ledo-Indonesia-Inggris yang dikumpulkan menggunakan metode pustaka. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan metode distribusional dengan teknik bagi unsur terkecil (BUT) untuk menentukan jenis serta menemukan pola dari alternasi bunyi vokal berdasarkan fitur distingtifnya. Penelitian ini menemukan sebanyak 108 kata serapan dari bahasa Indonesia dalam bahasa Kaili dialek Ledo. Hasil dari analisis data menununjukkan bahwa terdapat sembilan jenis alternasi bunyi vokal yaitu anaptiksis paragog, anaptiksis epentesis, monoftongisasi, diftongisasi, pemanjangan, lenisi, fortisi, fronting, dan backing. Alternasi dengan frekuensi kemunculan tertinggi adalah lenisi sedangkan alternasi dengan frekuensi terendah adalah diftongisasi. Pola kaidah fonologis dari setiap alternasi menunjukkan bahwa struktur suku kata tidak mengalami perubahan yang signifikan. Beberapa kata serapan tidak mengikuti struktur KV bahasa Kaili dan mempertahankan struktur suku kata aslinya.

Abstract

Nowadays, the use of phatic categories has spread to social media TikTok. Users flock to include phatic categories, both in Indonesian and regional languages, for example Sundanese, in their uploads. In line with this, this research focuses on the Sundanese language phatic category on TikTok social media. The research aims to examine the form, function, and distribution of phatic categories in Sundanese animated videos on the TikTok account @rifirdus. The theory used is the theory put forward by Kridalaksana (2007). The method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the research show that based on its form, the phatic category in this study is divided into 7 particle forms and 2 word forms. Based on its function, it is divided into 11 types of functions, namely emphasizing comparisons, emphasizing proof, emphasizing annoyance, emphasizing reasons, emphasizing commands, emphasizing uncertainty, emphasizing rebuttal, emphasizing giving salt, emphasizing questions, asking for agreement, and simply emphasizing. Based on distribution, the phatic category can be at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of a sentence. AbstrakDewasa ini, penggunaan kategori fatis telah merambah hingga media sosial TikTok. Para penggunanya beramai-ramai menyertakan kategori fatis, baik dalam bahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa daerah, misalnya bahasa Sunda dalam unggahannya. Sejalan dengan hal tersebut, penelitian ini berfokus pada kategori fatis bahasa Sunda di media sosial TikTok. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk, fungsi, dan distribusi kategori fatis pada video animasi berbahasa Sunda di akun TikTok @rifirdus. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori yang dikemukakan oleh Kridalaksana (2007). Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan bentuknya, kategori fatis dalam penelitian ini dibagi menjadi bentuk partikel yang berjumlah 7 dan bentuk kata yang berjumlah 2. Berdasarkan fungsinya, dibagi menjadi 11 macam fungsi, yaitu menekankan perbandingan, menekankan pembuktian, menekankan kekesalan, menekankan alasan, menekankan perintah, menekankan ketidakpastian, menekankan bantahan, menekankan pemberian garam, menekankan pertanyaan, meminta persetujuan, dan sekadar penekanan. Berdasarkan distribusi, kategori fatis dapat berada di awal, di tengah, dan di akhir kalimat.

Abstract

Wonderful Indonesia is the trademark of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kementerian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif or Kemenparekraf), responsible for producing videos aimed at promoting tourism to national and international tourists. Consequently, this study seeks to examine the representation of identity in the construction of Indonesian nature and culture. Based on this perspective, the selected video for analysis was Wonderful Indonesia Challenge: Borobudur, and the use of the multimodal discourse analysis showed that Indonesian nature and culture were constructed uniquely in this video. Additionally, the selected video represented nature in diverse tourist destinations as exotic, beautiful, friendly, comfortable, and pleasant. Traditional culture was also portrayed as preserved by the local community, even in daily activities. The glorification of locality was increasingly felt when tourists were proven to be actively engaged and happy. Simultaneously, local people in the video were shown to be passive but friendly. However, this video did not portray traditional culture as being close to tourists. The entire scenario was relatively open, enjoyable, and experienced, and even recorded by tourists, despite the sacred nature of the ritual performed. This condition gave the impression that Indonesian nature and culture were exotic, beautiful, unrestricted, comfortable, safe, and enjoyable.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat integratif dengan kegiatan KKN yang diusung oleh Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Padjadjaran di bawah payung “Hibah Bermanfaat” telah memasuki tahun ke tiga. Pada tahap ini kegiatan dengan tema utama “Pengembangan Desa Ramah Anak Berbasis Literasi Digital di Desa Citengah, Kabupaten Sumedang Selatan” difokuskan pada peningkatan literasi budaya. Literasi budaya dipilih sebagai upaya mengembangkan Desa Ramah Anak berbasis literasi digital karena masih minimnya pengetahuan budaya masyarakat desa Citengah khususnya anak-anak terkait kekayaan budaya yang ada di desa tersebut. Sesuai dengan karakter anak yang dapat berkembang dengan pesat melalui permainan atau bermain, maka kegiatan literasi budaya dilakukan dalam bentuk edukasi berupa sosialisasi permainan-permainan tradisional seperti Engklek, Oray-orayan pada anak-anak PAUD Kober Lestari dengan menggunakan kekuatan teknologi antara lain menggunakan video pembelajaran dan video interaktif. Sementara literasi budaya berupa penguatan materi kesenian tradisional yaitu Songah (Songsong Citengah), Calung, dan Sisingaan diberikan pada selain anak-anak SDN Citengah dan kalangan remaja, juga masyarakat umumnya melalui pembuatan akun media sosial, dokumentasi kesenian, dan pemasangan pigura di Kantor Desa. Hasil kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat terkait literasi budaya ini menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan pengetahuan anak-anak PAUD pada permainan-permainan tradisional yang dibuktikan dari antusiasme anak-anak terhadap permainan-permanian tradisional yang diajarkan, dan hasil terkait kegiatan penguatan kesadaran diri pada kesenian tradisional untuk sementara dapat dikatakan cukup memadai karena untuk acara-acara di lingkungan Desa Citengah pertunjukan kesenian tradisional seperti Songah dan Calung mulai digalakkan.  Penting untuk ditindaklanjuti bahwa upaya-upaya tersebut harus terus dilakukan untuk mencapai tahapan masyarakat yang memiliki literasi budaya berbasis literasi digital terkait pengembangan Desa Ramah Anak.
