Abstract

The presence of slum areas has emerged as a critical issue, sparking extensive debates across various sectors. Slum settlements, characterized by substandard living conditions due to factors such as high building density, inadequate infrastructure, poor sanitation, and health risks, pose significant challenges for urban management. This study aims to analyze government policies addressing slum settlements and evaluate building rehabilitation policies to tackle these issues effectively. Utilizing bibliometric analysis and VOSviewer, the research explores trends and developments in slum area management worldwide. The findings highlight that slum formation is often rooted in cultural and socio-economic realities, especially in developing countries, where urbanization and migration lead to overcrowding in cities. Slums reflect a harsh reality for impoverished populations striving for better living conditions. Addressing slums requires multi-sectoral collaboration involving governments, private sectors, and communities, supported by well-defined legal frameworks and sustainable urban planning. Key insights from the bibliometric analysis, based on 196 articles from Scopus, reveal increasing academic interest in slum management from 2013 to 2023, focusing on themes like governance, sustainability, pollution, and urban development. Results from VOSviewer indicate clusters of keywords such as "sustainable development," "population density," and "environmental quality," emphasizing the need for comprehensive strategies. Effective slum management involves equitable access to resources, economic empowerment, and social justice. This research underscores the necessity for innovative policies, such as integrating renewable energy and water-sensitive urban design, to rehabilitate slum areas sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in Indonesia to improve the quality of higher education and provide opportunities for students to gain broader learning experiences. This program allows students to take courses outside their study program, do internships in industry, teach in schools, conduct research, and run humanitarian projects. The research method applied is a literature study approach, where data is collected from journal articles. In this study, the author used a qualitative descriptive method. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively with the help of Nvivo 12 software. The implementation of the MBKM program runs well if there is cooperation between students, lecturers, and educators in implementing the program. After the MBKM program began, many lecturers and students did not understand the essence of the MBKM policy. Therefore, information about the MBKM policy still needs to be optimized. Abstract

The existence of a plan to clear andesite rock mining land in the Wadas area raises the root of a prolonged conflict in the Wadas area. However, the government actually established the National Strategic Project (PSN) in Wadas village, which was stipulated through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 58 of 2017 concerning Amendments to Presidential Regulation Number 3 of 2016 concerning the acceleration of the implementation of national strategic projects, the decision triggered a prolonged conflict. It was getting hotter, and Wadas, an area affected by the conflict, experienced a shrinkage of living space. This study aims to analyze how conflict resolution efforts in the dynamics of disputes in Wadas village are based on the form of conflict resolution in Johan Galtung. This research method uses a qualitative research method with secondary data sources from scientific articles and online mass media in the form of news, which is then processed using Nvivo 12 plus software tools, which function as data visualization. The results of the study show that there has been a significant and quite complicated dynamic in conflict resolution efforts in the Wadas conflict, which is seen through the form of conflict resolution theory Johan Galtung (Galtung, 1965), there are three indicators in his theory, namely Peacemaking, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding. The indicator shows that there are various aspects of conflict resolution efforts, namely political aspects, military aspects, and socio-economic and environmental aspects. There are factors of negotiation, facilitators, community participation, ceasefire, public security, justice and human rights, reconstruction, institutional strengthening, and reintegration.

Abstract

This paper investigates the challenges and potential solutions for absentee voting among Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia during the 2024 General Election. Key issues include administrative inefficiencies, outdated voter lists, legal ambiguities, and vulnerabilities in postal voting, exacerbated by geographic and socio-economic barriers, particularly for rural and undocumented workers. Using qualitative content analysis with NVivo, the study explores how Information and Communication Technology (ICT), such as digital voter registration and blockchain voting, can enhance transparency, data accuracy, and election security. The research is novel in its focus on ICT solutions tailored to the unique challenges faced by Indonesian migrants in Malaysia, a topic that has been largely overlooked. It underscores the importance of coordinated efforts among government agencies, NGOs, and technology providers for effective implementation. While ICT offers promising opportunities for reform, challenges related to infrastructure, digital literacy, and voter trust remain significant. The study provides practical recommendations for improving absentee voting, with broader implications for countries with large expatriate populations, emphasizing the need for multi-stakeholder collaboration to ensure inclusivity and electoral integrity. Future recommendations should focus on addressing these challenges and maximizing the potential of ICT. Comprehensive policy reforms are needed to clarify legal ambiguities and streamline administrative processes, making voter registration and voting mechanisms more accessible and efficient. Governments should invest in robust digital infrastructure and implement digital literacy programs to empower migrant workers, especially those in rural areas or with undocumented status. Advanced technologies like blockchain should be further explored to enhance transparency, security, and data accuracy in absentee voting systems. Collaboration among government agencies, NGOs, and technology providers is essential for successful implementation. Future research should also examine the long-term impact of ICT-based voting systems on voter trust and participation, as well as conduct comparative studies with other countries facing similar challenges.
