Abstract

Wound healing is a complex physiological response from living systems for physical, chemical, mechanical or thermal injury, where cells and matrix components act in rhythm to facilitate wound regeneration and restore tissue integrity. The skin is a complex organ consisting of the epidermis, dermis, and complementary skin, including hair follicles and sebaceous glands besides that the skin is also known as the largest organ in the body and plays several important roles ranging from regulating temperature, preventing infection and also a very dynamic organ which continually replaces cells, the depth of damage to the skin, both superficial and partial, can affect the length and amount of use of wound dressing material so that wound healing requires an appropriate environment and skill ability in selecting topical dressings to improve the healing process that is suitable for each type wounds, the right and innovative healing stage is estimated to heal within 2-8 weeks. This literature study aims to determine the benefits of topical cream extract of hylocereus polyrhizus 7.5% on wound healing. Search was done using pubMed, cochrane, google scholar and secondary search data published from 1990 to 2017. 7.5% red dragon fruit (EBNM) contains antioxidants, flavonoid phlyphenols which can increase collagen synthesis in wound healing besides seeds dragon fruit is able to relieve flasks and keep the skin moisture smooth due to the content of linoleic acid. Every 1 gram of Red Dragon Fruit contains 8.3 mg of total flavonoids and 10.8 mg of total phenol. Red Dragon Fruit (BNM) with high fiber, low in calories, and rich in antioxidants. Red Dragon Fruit Extract (EBNM) 7.5% is better at repairing granulation tissue and epithelial tissue, so it has the potential to be used as a wound healing therapy.

Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers have a high prevalence that requires good management of care. One of them is by assessing diabetic foot wounds. Currently, there has been a review of diabetic foot healing footage of New Diabetic Foot Ulcer Assessment Scale (DFUAS) which has been tested for validity and photo-based reliability. Nevertheless, in the DFUAS Assessment Reliability Test, there are still differences in perceptions on several DFUAS assessment variables on wound nurses. One reason is that there is no socialization given to the wound nurses on how to assess the DFUAS assessment. In addition, the previous DFUAS assessment reliability test is only performed on certified wound nurses whereas in health care services in patients with diabetic foot injuries are also performed by non-certified general nurses. This study aims to assess the interrater reliability and internal consistency of DFUAS-based on photo assessment on expert nurses and general nurses. The design of this study was cross sectional study. The samples in this study were certified nurses with ETN, CWCC, CWCCA and general non-certified Nurses with more than 2 years experience of wound care. The nurse as an observer evaluated 8 wounded images divided according to the wound stage (necrotic, slough, granulation and epithelial) using DFUAS assessment. Interrater reliability was assessed by spearman rho while internal consistency was assessed by cronbach's alpha. Interrater reliability shows good correlation with spearman rho> 0.60. Internal consistency shows good reliability between DFUAS assessment items and Cronbach's alpha 0.98. This study shows that the DFUAS assessment is reliable on different nurses both certified nurses and general nurses.

Abstract

Nursing competency test is a process that must be passed by nursing students to measure the suitability between knowledge, skills and student behavior against competency standards of graduates who meet work competency standards. Only students who pass the competency test are able to enter health services. Passing competency test is certainly influenced by various aspects, some of them are GPA and study period. Both of these things are an important role in the teaching and learning process that a student goes through. GPA is an indicator to assess learning achievement and the length of study is the time taken by the student to complete his studies. However, recently there has been an assumption among students that a high GPA does not guarantee in passing competency test and a prolonged study period does not prevent students from first passing the competency test, therefore researchers are interested in seeing the correlation of the two things. Objective The aim of the reasearch was to determine the correlation between Grade Point Average (GPA) and the period of study toward passing the Nursing Competency Test in Nursing Departement of the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health in Mamuju. Method This research is an analytic study with cross sectional design using secondary data. This research used total sampling with a sample size of 138. The Result showed that GPA had p<0,001 with correlation r= 0,908 and the study period had p<0,001 with correlation r=0,291. The Conclusion of the research is GPA had positive corelation very strong and the study period also had positive corelation but poor corelation.

Abstract

Background: Surgical area infections (IDOs) are a form of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) that often occur, especially in complex surgical procedures such as total thyroidectomy, which has a high risk of infection due to the long duration of surgery and involvement of vital structures. Prevention of IDO can be done through the implementation of infection prevention bundles, including the administration of prophylactic antibiotics, pre and perioperative antiseptics, as well as blood temperature and glucose control. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the application of infection prevention bundles in reducing the risk of infection in patients undergoing total thyroidectomy with a diagnosis of bilateral thyroid cancer at the Central Surgical Installation of Hasanuddin University Hospital, Makassar. Methods: This study used a descriptive case study design with a single case design method on Mrs. M's patients through three phases: pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative. The implementation of the infection prevention bundle includes the administration of prophylactic antibiotics, sterility techniques, blood sugar control, body temperature monitoring, and systematic wound care. Results: The total risk score of perioperative infection was 14 out of 30, indicating a moderate-high risk. However, the implementation of infection prevention bundles has proven to be effective in preventing infection. Evaluation of wound healing using the Southampton Wound Assessment Scale showed that the patient's wound was in a normal healing condition with no signs of infection until the fifth postoperative day. The patient was discharged on the fifth day with good general condition, normal swallowing function, and closed wounds without complications. Conclusions and suggestions: Consistent application infection prevention bundles can lower the risk of surgical area infection, accelerate wound healing, and shorten the duration of hospitalization. This study recommends the management of pre-operative risk factors such as hypertension control and patient education about postoperative wound care for sustainable healing. of This case study examines the application of infection risk factors in total thyroidectomy patients. The risk score for perioperative infection is 14 out of 30, which indicates a moderate-high risk. However the implementation infection prevention bundles has proven to be effective in preventing infection. The administration of prophylactic antibiotics, sterility techniques, blood sugar control, body temperature monitoring, and systematics wound care.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that can cause sufferers to lose physical function. The cases will continue to increase from year to year. If not treated immediately, diabetes can cause dangerous chronic conditions. Preventing complications through treatment such as medication and controlling blood glucose levels was needed. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of single and combined physical exercises in reducing blood glucose levels in Type 2 DM patients. The literature review design used three international databases PubMed, ClinicalKey for Nursing, and the Cochrane Library. The literature review was performed on articles published between 2011 to 2022 using Randomized Control Trial designs. A total of nine articles met the inclusion criteria. Results showed that the single physical exercise intervention group and the combined physical exercise proved effective in reducing blood glucose levels compared to the control group. In addition, physical exercises also affect HbA1c, body mass, insulin levels, insulin resistance, adiponectin, IL-6, and short physical performance battery (SPPB). It can conclude through evidence-based studies that single or combined physical exercise interventions are proven to reduce blood glucose levels and HbA1c, also lowering the weight in type 2 DM sufferers. It is suggested to perform a specific review on physical exercises which are better in reducing the blood glucose level as well as other indicators.
