Abstract

Background: Snakebites are an emergency that can cause death if not treated immediately. Lack of community knowledge on first aid for snakebites can increase the incidence of infection or death. Education is needed to improve community knowledge. However, community education using audiovisual methods for snakebite prevention remains limited. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of audiovisual education on knowledge of handling snakebites in the community at UPT Puskesmas Kepanjenkidul, Blitar City. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pre–posttest design was used. Participants were ≥18 years old community members recruited from the outpatient registry using simple random sampling. A validated 15-item knowledge questionnaire was administered before and after a 5-minute audiovisual educational intervention. Inclusion criteria: consent to participate; exclusion: prior training on snakebite management. Data was collected using a knowledge questionnaire used to assess community knowledge regarding snakebite management. The study reporting followed the TREND Statement for non-randomized evaluations of behavioral interventions. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank test with α < 0.05.. Results: The level of knowledge of handling snakebites before education was in the fair category for most of the respondents (45 respondents or 51.1%). After education, almost all respondents (80 respondents or 90.9%) had a good level of knowledge. Results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p < 0.001. Conclusion: Health education using audiovisual media influences knowledge of handling snakebites. Audiovisual media can display elements of images and sound simultaneously in conveying information. Video media in the learning process is more effective in increasing knowledge. Thus, health workers are expected to provide education using audiovisual media since it is easy to receive and understand by the community.

Abstract

Introduction: Early mobilization after surgery plays a crucial role in accelerating the patient’s recovery process and preventing complications such as deep vein thrombosis, pneumonia, and delayed wound healing. Despite its importance, the knowledge and participation of patients’ families in supporting early mobilization remain low. Family involvement is essential because proper support and motivation can significantly influence the patient’s postoperative recovery process. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and attitudes of patients’ families regarding early mobilization after surgery at Setio Husodo Hospital, Kisaran. Method: The program was implemented through socialization and educational sessions conducted using interactive lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, and direct practice under the supervision of health workers. A pre-test and post-test design was used to assess changes in participants’ knowledge and attitudes toward early mobilization. Data were analyzed descriptively to identify improvement levels among participants. Result: The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and awareness. After the intervention, 90% of families were able to explain the benefits, techniques, and proper stages of early mobilization, compared to only 45% before the program. The activity also fostered a more positive attitude among families in motivating patients to move gradually after surgery, while ensuring safety and comfort under professional supervision. Conclusion: Family health education effectively increases knowledge and participation in early mobilization after surgery. The program successfully empowered families to take an active role in supporting postoperative recovery. Therefore, it is recommended that similar family-based education programs be implemented regularly as part of standard postoperative care in hospitals.

Abstract

ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) is a life-threatening cardiovascular emergency that requires rapid and appropriate intervention. One key indicator of successful management is Door-to-Balloon Time (D2BT), which reflects the interval between a patient's arrival at the emergency department and the initiation of primary percutaneous coronary intervention. The CODE STEMI program was developed to streamline the clinical pathway and accelerate reperfusion therapy. To evaluate the impact of the CODE STEMI program on achieving optimal D2BT in STEMI patients. This quantitative comparative study employed an analytical design using the Chi-Square test.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that remains a major public health problem in Indonesia. The prevalence of hypertension among adults aged 18 years and over reaches 34.1%, with most cases being asymptomatic yet potentially leading to serious complications such as stroke, kidney failure, and heart disease. This situation underscores the need for effective health education to control risk factors by improving patient adherence to antihypertensive medication and a low-salt diet. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve patients’ knowledge, awareness, and adherence to antihypertensive therapy and the implementation of a low-salt diet to maintain optimal blood pressure control. Method: The program was carried out in the Internal Medicine Ward of RSUD Jayapura using direct health education and outreach methods with printed leaflets as educational media. This approach was chosen because it enables practical, clear, and direct communication of health information to patients and families. Leaflets also allow patients to review the material independently at home. Result: The results showed a notable increase in patients’ and families’ understanding after participating in the educational activity. Post-education assessments indicated improved knowledge and awareness regarding medication adherence and dietary salt restriction. The leaflet proved to be an effective, easy-to-understand, and practical educational medium for supporting sustainable health promotion among hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Health education through printed leaflets can effectively increase patient knowledge and adherence to antihypertensive medication and a low-salt diet. This medium supports healthcare workers in delivering consistent and continuous patient education for better hypertension management outcomes.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health concern in Indonesia, including in Sumbawa Regency. Preventive efforts must be carried out upstream, one of which is through nutrition and health education for adolescents as future parents. This community service activity aimed to develop a digital-based educational media in the form of the RAMPES (Remaja Peduli Stunting/Adolescents Care for Stunting) website as an interactive learning tool to improve adolescents’ literacy in nutrition and health. The method applied combined participatory, educational, and co-creation approaches, including problem identification, digital content development, online and offline dissemination, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The product developed was a website containing digital modules, educational videos, presentation materials, and interactive exercises designed to match adolescent characteristics. The website was disseminated online via Zoom with the participation of 233 students from 47 senior high schools/vocational schools (SMA/SMK), and offline at five pilot schools: SMA Negeri 1 Sumbawa, SMA Negeri 2 Sumbawa, SMA Negeri 3 Sumbawa, SMK Negeri 1 Sumbawa, and SMK Islam Farmasi Sumbawa. Evaluation results indicated an improvement in knowledge, with the “poor” category decreasing from 21.6% to 16.2% and the “fair” category increasing from 40.5% to 45.9%. A more significant improvement was observed in attitudes, with the “good” category rising from 23.4% to 63.1% and the “poor” category decreasing sharply from 25.2% to 3.6%. These findings demonstrate that website-based education is effective in enhancing adolescent nutrition literacy and fostering positive attitudes toward stunting prevention. This initiative also supports the Bakti Stunting Program implemented by KCD DIKBUD Sumbawa and serves as a strategic innovation in the digital transformation of education and health sectors.

Abstract

This study analyzes factors influencing laboratory practice performance among fourth-semester D3 Nursing students at STIKES Aisyiyah Palembang in 2024. Using a cross-sectional design with random sampling, 131 students participated by completing structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed with simple linear regression to determine the effects of motivation, interest, and learning intensity on laboratory outcomes. Results showed that 64.9% of students had positive motivation, 66.4% expressed strong interest, and only 13.7% demonstrated high learning intensity. Overall, 94.7% of students passed laboratory practice. Cross-tabulation revealed that students with positive motivation (97.6%), strong interest (97.7%), and high learning intensity (100%) had the highest pass rates. Regression analysis confirmed that motivation (p = 0.000), interest (p = 0.000), and learning intensity (p = 0.035) significantly influenced laboratory performance, while the learning environment and facilities showed no statistical impact. These findings highlight that intrinsic factors—particularly motivation and interest—are stronger predictors of success compared to external conditions. Therefore, nursing educators should prioritize strategies that foster student motivation, maintain engagement, and encourage consistent learning intensity to optimize laboratory outcomes.
