Abstract

This study aims to find how students' critical thinking skills after learning to use generative learning models in science learning material on global warming. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a population of 2 classes taken from class VII SMP in one of the cities of Sukabumi. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research design used in this study was the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The instrument used in this study is a multiple-choice test of 15 items, each of which has been declared valid and reliable. Based on the data requirements test, it is known that the results of the research data are normally distributed and the two classes have the same variance (homogeneous). From the data analysis, it is known that the average value of the posttest of the experimental class students with the generative learning model is 84.50 and the average value of the posttest of the control class students without using the generative learning model is 62.19. There is a significant difference in student learning outcomes, this is evidenced by the Z-test obtained by Zcount> Ztable (3.72 > 1.96) so this study rejects H0 and accepts H1. Thus, it can be concluded that there are effects of learning outcomes on the critical thinking skills of students who take part in learning by using generative learning models on global warming material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Socioscientific Issues learning approach to improving students' creative thinking ability. Learning with the Socioscintific Issues approach needs to be trained because it not only develops creative thinking skills, but also other abilities can be developed such as critical thinking skills, decision-making and arguing ability. The research method that will be used is quasi experiment with Design Nonequivalent Control Group. This research was conducted at State Junior High School 6 Sukabumi with research population that is class VII (Seven). The sampling technique used is Purposing Sampling. Indicators of creative thinking that is sensitivity, thinking smoothly, thinking flexible, original thinking and thinking detailing. The results showed that the average value of N-gain of the experimental class was 0.56 higher than the control class of 0.44. The results of the z test show that the data produced in accordance with the criteria is zhitung = 3.177> ztabel = 1.998 with a trust level of 0.05 (5%), meaning H0 is rejected and H1 accepted, it means that the Socioscientific Issues learning approach influences the creative thinking ability of learners water pollution material. The response of learners to the learning approach Socioscientific Issue gave a positive response on the approach of learning approaches Socioscientific Issues.Keywords: Creative Thinking, Socioscientific Issues.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas X SMA Negeri Kota Sukabumi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan januari di minggu ke-4 di salah satu SMA Negeri Kota Sukabumi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pendekatan kualitatif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri Kota Sukabumi sebanyak 81 siswa. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes tertulis berupa multiple choice sebanyak 15 soal yang memiliki reabilitas 0,34, simpangan baku 2,63 dan korelasinya 0,21 dengan menggunakan 10 indikator keterampilan proses sains. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa profil keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas X SMA Negeri Kota Sukabumi tahun ajaran 2019/2020 masih dalam kategori kurang. Namun hasil tersebut dapat ditingkatkan kembali dengan menggunakan model, strategi dan pendekatan pembelajaran yang mampu memberdayakan keterampilan proses sains siswa. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang disarankan adalan model pembelajaran inkuiri. Kata Kunci : Keterampilan Proses Sains, Siswa Kelas X.

Abstract

Binuangeun Beach, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, is one of the south coasts of Java which is still natural and virgin. This condition holds biological potential, one of which is macroalgae. Coastal community interactions with the potential of algae is part of everyday life. This article aims to reveal the potential of macroalgae found on the coast based on the knowledge of the people. Efforts to collect information/ emic from the community are carried out by collecting specimens using the Quadrant Transect method for sampling macroalgae species, then Plant Interviews are carried out to record community emics about the use of macroalgae found in the field. The Plant Interview was conducted in a structured manner. Interviews were conducted with two key informants from the local community. From the observations obtained 11 species. Among the beneficial species, it is noted that some of the species used are Ulva lactuca which can be used as food/ lalab; Turbinaria ornata is used as a trading / traded commodity, Sargassum sp as a trading/ traded commodity, foodstuff, and medicine; Halimeda tuna is used as paint and chalk and Enteromorpha compress is consumed. From these data it can be concluded that Binuangen Beach Banten has the potential to be developed into a source of additional nutrition, commercial and medicinal properties.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) merupakan salah satu penilaian yang digunakan di Indonesia sebagai upaya untuk dapat meningkatkan perkembangan pendidikan di tingkat internasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) siswa kelas VIII pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Negeri Kota Sukabumi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 24 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu soal tes tertulis berupa soal esai sebanyak 12 soal yang sudah valid dan reliabel. Data hasil penelitian dibagi ke dalam 5 kategori, yaitu kategori kurang sekali 92%, kategori kurang 4%, kategori cukup 0%, kategori baik 4% dan kategori sangat baik 0%. Berdasarkan data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa HOTS siswa kelas VIII di SMP secara umum masuk ke dalam kriteria kurang sekali. Faktor yang menyebabkan HOTS siswa pada kriteria kurang sekali yaitu siswa kurang terlatih dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal HOTS, kurang mengerti terhadap materi yang diajarkan dan kegunaannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kurang teliti dalam proses pengerjaan soal dll. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan HOTS siswa adalah melalui beberapa saran terkait upaya meningkatkan HOTS siswa, berupa solusi dari dugaan penyebab sebelumnya yaitu dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran STEM. Saran menggunakan model pembelajaran ini hanya salah satu saran. Bisa saja sarannya perlunya latihan soal HOTS yang berulang-ulang, dll.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the influence of the 3C3R learning model (Content, Context, Connection, Reading, Reasoning, Reflecting) on students' literacy skills after learning in the concept of interaction between living things and the environment. The sample of this study was grade VII students in SMP Negeri 13 Kota Sukabumi which were taken using a pusposive sampling technique with 24 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. The instrument of this research is a matter of testing scientific literacy skills. This type of research is Quasi Experimental with a non equivalent control group design research design. The data analysis technique uses the t test with a significance level of α 0.05. The results of the t test show (tcount 6.845> ttable 2.051) so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there are significant differences in students' scientific literacy skills between the experimental class and the control group. So it can be concluded that the 3C3R learning model influences students' scientific literacy abilities.

Abstract

The problem-solving ability of students at a senior high school (SMA/MA) level is the competencies that must be possessed at school and outside school. This study aimed to look at the profile of the problem-solving ability of class XI students’ in the Senior High School of Sukabumi. The method used was a quantitative descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class XI in the Senior High School of Sukabumi. The sampling technique used was a purposive sampling technique. Environmental change material is a biology subject in class X. It has been stated in the curriculum of 2013 that gives guidance to students to be able to solve the problem in every biology subject materials. The instrument used was in the form of an essay of 10 questions with the reliability of 0,82, deviation standard of 7,78, and correlation of 0,69. These questions using 5 indicators of problem-solving ability. The results of this study have the following percentage: formulating the problem was 68.75%, developing temporary answers was 68, 4%, testing the interim answers was 77.43%, concluding was 67.01%, and applying conclusions was 51.04%. The results of the study showed that the problem-solving abilities of class XI students of Sukabumi High School in enough category with an average percentage of 66.52%. It can be concluded that students' problem-solving abilities still need to be improved. The teachers should improve the learning model, media, and learning environment as it can enhance student’s problem-solving ability. Further research is very needed to be done to add insight knowledge.

Abstract

Abstract The application of Appropriate Technology to the Community was carried out in Kadudampit District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province. As the sub-district mapped to be one of the centers of sheep farmers by the Sukabumi Regency government, the farmers have problems with the availability of fresh forage which is limited during the dry season. They also do not have the ability to make silage and design silage tools that are truly effective and efficient. The aim of this program is to provide information and skills to the sheep breeders group about silage feed technology, design and use of the Compartment Silage Tool (ASTER). This program is carried out through seven stages, including: 1) Activity Socialization; 2) Design of the Compartment Silage Tool Implementation; 3) Assembling the Compartment Silage Tool; 4) Compartment Silage Tool Operation Test; 5) Operational Assistance and Completion of the Compartment Silage Tool; 6) Application and grant of Compartment Silage Tool; and 7) the monitoring and evaluation stage, aims to see the progress and achievements of each stage of the program so that all programs can be carried out according to the objectives. Abstrak Penerapan Teknologi Tepat Guna Kepada Masyarakat ini dilakukan di Kecamatan Kadudampit, Kabupaten Sukabumi Provinsi Jawa Barat. Sebagai kecamatan yang dipetakan menjadi salah satu sentra peternak domba oleh pemerintah Kabupaten Sukabumi, para peternaknya memiliki masalah akan ketersediaan pakan hijauan segar yang terbatas pada saat musim kemarau. Mereka juga tidak memiliki kemampuan membuat silase serta merancang alat silase yang benar-benar efektif dan efisien. Tujuan dari program Penerapan Teknologi Tepat Guna Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah memberikan sosialisasi dan keterampilan kepada kelompok peternak domba tentang teknologi pakan silase, perancangan dan penggunaan Alat Silase Terkompartemen (ASTER). Program ini dilakukan melalui tujuh tahap, antara lain: 1) Sosialisasi Kegiatan; 2) Perancangan Implementasi Alat Silase Terkompartemen; 3) Perakitan Alat Silase Terkompartemen; 4) Uji Operasi Alat Silase Terkompartemen; 5) Pendampingan Operasional dan Penyempurnaan Alat Silase Terkompartemen; 6) Penerapan dan menghibahkan Alat Silase Terkompartemen; dan 7) tahap monitoring dan evaluasi, bertujuan melihat progres dan capaian setiap tahapan program ini agar seluruh program dapat terlaksana sesuai tujuan.

Abstract

The research is aimed to know student achievement and teacher response on TIMSS. The research method used is descriptive. This achievement is captured the TIMSS questions in 2007 and 2011 on the ecosystem concept. The test contains 20 questions consisting of 14 essays and 6 multiple choice questions. The TIMSS questions also consist of several cognitive domains of knowing, applying and reasoning. Responses of students and teachers were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The study subjects are class VIII B 1 of School A and class VIII E School B 2 of Sukabumi in the academic year of 2015/2016. The results show that average achievement in School A is in the poor category (41%) and School B is in the fair category (56%). The achievements based on cognitive domain, 80% for knowing the domain, 43% for applying domain and 53% reasoning domain. Some students of School A and most of the students of School B feel interested in TIMSS problem, while the teachers think that TIMSS questions will be used if it already familiar.
