Abstract

Various problems arise in Natural Science learning in elementary school. One of them is not using teaching materials other than thematic package books and worksheet companion books. LKS books students purchase are printed in black and white on opaque paper. The material presented is still limited, particularly in relationships between living things in ecosystems. Practice questions are also limited, so the teacher has to provide additional questions. In addition, only a tiny proportion of students are independent. The rest still depend on the teacher and other students when given assignments or asked to work on problems. So, teaching materials must be presented to support learning activities with variations that interest students in practicality because the size is relatively small and can strengthen students' independent character. One type of teaching material that is suitable to be developed is a booklet. This research aims to develop booklets that are practical, valid, effective and can strengthen independent character. The type of research used is the ADDIE model development research, composed of 5 steps: analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate. Research data was obtained from teaching materials experts, material experts, teachers, and students at SDN Karangsari 2 Kota Blitar, with a total of 27 students. Data collection uses interviews, observations, documentary studies, questionnaires, and written tests. Booklet validation results data achieve very valid criteria where the average is 94.5%. The average practicality test results by students and teachers were 98.31% very practical. The effectiveness of booklets reached 77.47%, and the percentage of student independence reached 94.06%. After testing the booklet on students, a positive response was obtained; learning became more fun, exciting, and easy to understand. The booklet on the relationship between living things in ecosystems is very valid, convenient and effective, so they are suitable for use in learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to overcome challenges in learning Natural Sciences (Science) and increase the scientific literacy of Grade VI students at SDN 1 Sumbergedong, Trenggalek Regency, by developing a QR Code-based Pocket Book on the solar system material. The research method used is R&D and follows ADDIE's steps to develop valid, practical and effective learning media. Validation results from material experts, media experts, and teachers show a very high level of validity, 93.56%. In comparison, small-scale and large-scale trials show a high level of practicality with an average of 98.25%. Evaluating the effectiveness of using N-Gain resulted in a significant increase in student understanding by 80%. Thus, the QR Code-based Pocket Book is an innovative alternative that has the potential to increase elementary school students' scientific literacy, overcome media limitations, and enrich the learning experience with interactive multimedia technology. It is very suitable for use in solar system learning materials.

Abstract

The demands of the National Standards for Higher Education require undergraduate graduates to be able to think at a high level. In addition, the demands of the disruption era want technology-based education and learning. The COVID-19 pandemic has become a momentum to integrate the two because learning is forced to be done at home with online learning. The results of the preliminary study show that students in online learning are not able to proactively compile their knowledge and lecturers need curriculum tools that refer to high-level thinking according to government demands. Based on the two demands and the results of the preliminary study, a solution is needed. One of the preferred solutions is curriculum development through MOOC-Science development research efforts to improve the high-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers. This research aims to develop MOOC-Science that has valid multimedia content that can improve high-level thinking skills and analyze the effectiveness of MOOC-Science on higher-level thinking skills. This development research uses a 4D model research design consisting of 1) definition; 2) planning; 3) development; and 4) the spread. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis and statistical analysis. The results of the study concluded that 1) multimedia MOOC-Science is very well validated; 2) the high-level thinking skills instrument is very well validated; and 3) MOOC-Science has proven to be very effective in improving the higher-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers. Suggestions for other researchers can use MOOC-Science with the addition of more complex multimedia features as an alternative to improving the higher-level thinking skills of prospective elementary school teachers.
