Abstract

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a pest population control system that uses all control methods to reduce and maintain populations below the level of economic damage. Pest and disease attacks on fruit plants become obstacles, making production unstable. In addition, the increasing pest population is followed by increasing production costs, which impact decreasing farmer income. Fruit farmers who have just started cultivating fruit plants have complex problems facing pest and disease attacks, especially Fruit Flies and Spodoptera sp. The purpose of this service is to provide information on IPM technology in controlling pests and diseases in fruit plants, especially the use of Bacillus thuringiensis Microorganisms and petrogenol in the Sukamaju Village farmer group, Malind District, Merauke Regency to control pests and diseases. The community service approach involves stages of introduction/socialization, training, and technology implementation, which involves active participation from group members. The results of this service are expected to increase farmers' knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding the use of insecticides against plant pests. The evaluation results show that knowledge about natural enemies and using biological insecticides and traps as a reference for integrated pest control (IPM) has started to improve. In addition, the community can already use environmentally friendly technology, namely Bacillus thuringiensis and petrogenol. Abstract

Upaya meningkatkan produksi jagung terkendala dengan adanya alih fungsi lahan pertanian sehingga penggunaan lahan marginal menjadi solusi. Lahan salin merupakan kawasan lahan marginal dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan tanaman jagung yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Jagung memiliki daya adaptasi yang berbeda terhadap kondisi lahan yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji beberapa varietas jagung yang tahan terhadap kondisi tanah salin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Greenhouse Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Musamus bulan September hingga Desember 2022. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 4 varietas jagung (Jawara, Sejoli, Gendis, serta Exsotic) dan diulang 3 kali. Tanah salin yang digunakan adalah tanah dari belakang kampus Universitas Musamus dengan jarak ke pantai sekitar 1 km. Pengujian menunjukkan tanaman memiliki keragaan pertumbuhan yang berbeda antar varietas dimana perbedaan ini lebih mengacu pada sifat genetis sebagaimana ditunjukkan oleh deskripsi tanaman. Varietas Exsotic menghasilkan tanaman tertinggi (148,87 cm), jumlah baris biji tertinggi (12,5 baris), dan bobot 100 butir biji tertinggi (13,5 g). Varietas Sejoli menghasilkan jumlah daun yang lebih banyak (11,69 helai) dan diameter tongkol yang lebih besar (4,6 cm).  Varietas Jawara menghasilkan umur berbunga (44,47 hari) dan umur panen (83,45 hari) yang lebih cepat, sedangkan Varietas Gendis menghasilkan tongkol yang lebih panjang (17,9 cm) dibandingkan lainnya. Bila dibandingkan dengan deskripsi varietas, variabel pengamatan pertumbuhan maupun komponen hasil menunjukkan hasil yang lebih rendah. Rendahnya hasil ini diduga terkait adanya cekaman salinitas yang dialami sehingga tidak mampu untuk tumbuh dan memberikan hasil sesuai deskripsi. Keempat varietas yang dicobakan masih mampu untuk tumbuh dan memberikan hasil namun lebih rendah dibandingkan deskripsinya.

Abstract

The slender rice bug (Leptocorisa oratorius) is an important pest in Merauke Regency because it can cause a decrease in rice production. Rice plants that are attacked by this pest will produce rice with poor quality, because the color becomes black spots and can calcify. This study aims to determine the level of attack and population density of L. oratorius in the Tanah Miring Merauke District, Papua Province. The method used in this research was purposive sampling. Determination of sampling locations by selecting a paddy field with a minimum size of 1250 m2 on one rice field per variety, then determining 9 sampling points. Sampling of the slender rice bug used an insect net with a diameter of 40 cm which was carried out in 1 double swing at each point measuring 1 x 1 m. The results showed that the average intensity of damage caused by stink bugs in Tanah Miring District was 13.78%. The highest average population density was in Waninggap Miraf village with 46.6 individuals, Yasamulya village, Isanombias village with 44.33 individuals, Yabamaru village with 38.66 individuals, Bersehati village with 38.33 and the lowest was Amunkay village with 30 individuals. While the population average in each observation was highest in the second observation or 55 HST of 46.4 individuals followed by the first observation or 45 HST of 37.4 individuals and the last observation or 65 HST of  29.8 individuals. The most preferred type of variety by the stink bug was Impari 32 (19.76%). Monitoring the development of the slender rice bug population is necessary to prevent the possibility of a population explosion so that it can be controlled earlier.

Abstract

Kelompok Wanita Tani Janang Indah adalah organisasi atau kelompok yang beranggotakan perempuan, khususnya ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang memiliki kegiatan utama di bidang pertanian khusunya budidaya tanaman hortikultura dengan sistem hidroponik. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kemampuan masyarakat dalam membuat pupuk organik cair sebagai nutrisi untuk budidaya hidroponik. Metode kegiatan  yang  dilakukan terdiri dari metode  ceramah,  diskusi  dan demonstrasi  praktik  langsung  di  lapangan berupa pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) untuk mengurangi pengunaan AB Mix pada budidaya secara hidroponik,  yang  didasari  oleh evaluasi  awal  sebagai  landasan untuk menentukan posisi pengetahuan kelompok sasaran mengenai pembuatan pupuk organic cair.  Kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan keterampilan Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Janang Indah dalam pembuatan dan aplikasi pupuk organik cair sebagai nutrisi dalam tanaman sayuran dengan sistem hidroponik. Tingkat pemahaman pemanfaatan pupuk organik cair meningkat dari 50% menjadi 85 %. Selain itu masyarakat juga dapat melaksanakan budidaya pertanian dengan menanam tanaman sayuran disekitar pekarangan mereka.

Abstract

Kelompok Perempuan Papua Kreatif merupakan kelompok tani di Kelurahan Kuda Mati yang beranggotakan perempuan-perempuan asal Papua, khususnya ibu rumah tangga, dengan fokus kegiatan pada bidang pertanian. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok dalam pembuatan pupuk organik cair (POC) sebagai alternatif pengganti larutan AB Mix pada budidaya tanaman hidroponik. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi oleh kelompok sasaran adalah tingginya biaya produksi akibat ketergantungan terhadap penggunaan larutan AB Mix yang relatif mahal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi ceramah, diskusi interaktif, serta demonstrasi praktik langsung di lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi menggunakan instrumen pre-test dan post-test terhadap 30 peserta, diperoleh peningkatan tingkat pengetahuan sebesar 86,7%, dengan persentase peserta yang memahami konsep dan manfaat pupuk organik meningkat dari 40% sebelum kegiatan menjadi 93,3% setelah kegiatan. Selain itu, keterampilan peserta dalam pembuatan POC meningkat hingga 90%, yang ditunjukkan melalui kemampuan seluruh peserta dalam menghasilkan produk pupuk organik cair secara mandiri. Luaran kegiatan mencakup: (1) produk pupuk organik cair berbasis bahan lokal seperti daun gamal, daun pepaya, dan limbah dapur; (2) penyusunan modul pelatihan pembuatan POC untuk budidaya hidroponik; serta (3) perubahan perilaku anggota kelompok dalam pemanfaatan limbah organik rumah tangga sebagai bahan baku pupuk dan pengurangan ketergantungan terhadap pupuk anorganik. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas, kemandirian, dan kesadaran lingkungan peserta, sehingga berkontribusi terhadap penguatan ketahanan pangan dan penerapan prinsip pertanian berkelanjutan di tingkat rumah tangga.

Abstract

Microgreens are nutrient-rich vegetables with a very short harvest life. Compared to mature vegetables, microgreens have a higher nutritional content. Besides that, microgreens are generally free from chemical pesticide contamination and are considered a very healthy food ingredient. This research aims to determine how fertilization influences the growth and yield of spoon mustard microgreens grown using rockwool media. The study was carried out at the Agrotechnology Laboratory at Universitas Musamus-Merauke from August to September 2024. The results of the study showed that fertilization influenced microgreen height, hypocotyl length, and hypocotyl diameter and had no effect on observations of the number of leaves and weight of 10 microgreens. In general, there is a tendency to use ABMix fertilizer as a source of nutrition to provide better growth and results. Keywords: Bokcoy, healthy vegetables, microgreens

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of farmer groups in Semangga District, Merauke Regency in propagating microorganisms as biological agents in agriculture. The program was motivated by farmers’ high dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which negatively affect soil quality and the environment. The methods included laboratory-based microorganism propagation, interactive lectures, simulation practices, and group discussions and reflections. The results indicated increased farmers’ understanding of the roles and benefits of microorganisms such as Trichoderma sp. and Bacillus sp., as well as their ability to propagate them independently. The application of this technology has the potential to reduce chemical inputs, lower production costs, and improve soil fertility sustainably. This activity is important as a model for empowering farmers through environmentally friendly biological technology.

Abstract

The Village Partner Development (VPD) program, themed “Utilization of Corn Stem Waste as Fermented Silage for Animal Feed,” is a form of community service implemented by lecturers at Musamus University in Merauke in various villages/ sub-districts in Merauke Regency. This program aims to improve community understanding, knowledge, and skills in utilizing agricultural waste, specifically corn stems, as fermented animal feed during the dry season. The program was conducted in Kuper Village, Semangga District, Merauke Regency, from August to October 2025, in collaboration with partner farmers and livestock groups. The VPD program included lectures, training, feed preparation practices, monitoring and evaluation of the sustainability of the activities by farmers and livestock. Through this community service activity, livestock farmers can produce fermented feed by utilizing corn stems, which is currently largely wasted. Livestock farmers who initially did not understand the fermentation technology for producing animal feed became able to comprehend and manufacture animal feed independently.
