Abstract

This research aims to investigate how students self-regulated their learning in order to build their speaking abilities within the framework of a classroom setting. Since the majority of the study focuses on the relevance of speaking skills, this research is particularly relevant. This study examines how students may better themselves by self-regulating their learning to improve their speaking abilities in terms of smoothness or fluency in a classroom setting. In this particular study, the paradigm of quantitative research was used. The sample in this study was recruited from one of the junior high schools and totalled 33 students. The speaking test was the instrument used to gather the data. Based on the findings of the data, the students had a mean score of 71.66 on the pre-test assessment of their fluency (smoothness). While the post-test had a mean score that was higher than the pre-test, the post-test score for fluency was 81.06. Furthermore, the analysis of the data showed that the value of the t-test was more than the values in the t-test table (12.590 > 1.693). It indicated that there was a considerable disparity between them. Accordingly, it is possible to draw the conclusion that the implementation of Self-Regulated Learning was seen to be successful in improving the students' speaking abilities, particularly their fluency.

This is evidenced by using pre-test scores (39.53) and a post-tests score(72.18), which shows that in addition to the test scores, students’ pronunciation in the post-test is higher than the pre-test. (29.10) which is higher based on the t-table value (1.696). As a result, the Null hypothesis was refuted and the alternative hypothesis was adopted. Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not the dubbing video method can improve students' pronunciation, especially diphthongs in learning English in class XI SMAN 3 Majene. The research method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design. The researcher gave a pre-test to the students, then the researcher conducted treatment through the dubbing video method, and at the end of the meeting, a post-test was given. The population used in this research were students of class XI at SMAN 3 Majene. The sample of this research was the students of the class XI IPA, which included 26 students using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the use of the dubbing video method was significant in improving students' pronunciation, especially diphthongs. This is evidenced by the mean pretest score before treatment of 43.08 and the mean value after being given treatment of 53.46, the percentage increase of 24.09%. After analyzing the results of the pre-test and post-test data, the researcher found that the pronunciation value of the p-value (0.000) is smaller than α (0.05). It was concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. That means there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the dubbing video method in the learning process provides an increase in pronunciation for students.
