Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah, namun pengetahuan tentang tanaman obat semakin berkurang akibat pengaruh budaya asing, gaya hidup instan, dan kurangnya edukasi. Apoteker, sebagai tenaga kesehatan yang ahli di bidang obat, berperan penting dalam memulihkan pemahaman ini melalui edukasi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan anak-anak tentang tanaman obat dan mengenalkan profesi apoteker menggunakan media smart card dan program Apoteker Cilik (APOCIL). Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SDN 1 Gading Rejo Utara dengan melibatkan 33 siswa kelas 5. Metode yang digunakan meliputi presentasi edukatif, smart card berisi informasi tanaman obat, serta praktik meracik obat sederhana. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada nilai post-test (86,88) dibandingkan pre-test (76,4). Media smart card terbukti efektif sebagai alat pembelajaran interaktif, sementara program APOCIL berhasil memperkenalkan peran apoteker secara nyata. Pendekatan ini dapat menjadi metode edukasi yang kreatif dan menyenangkan bagi anak-anak.

Abstract

Burns are skin tissue damage caused by hot objects or hot liquids. One of the potentially healing plants for burns is the bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum (Wight.) Walp.). Bay leaves ethanol extract contains flavonoids known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which can aid in wound healing. This study aimed to determine the formulation and effectiveness of a gel made from ethanol bay leaves extract. Bay leaves were extracted using the maceration method with a 70% ethanol solvent; then, its extract was formulated into gel preparations. Following the formulation,the researchers conducted physicochemical evaluations and burn effectiveness trials using New Zealand albino rabbits. The research results indicated that the burn gel formulations with 3% and 6% concentration variations exhibited favourable physical properties, including organoleptic, homogeneity, and pH from 5.33 to 5.8, spreadability from 4.77 to 5.55 cm, adhesion strength from 5.47 to 11.6 seconds, and viscosity ranged from 12.507 to 16.080 cPs. The 15-day burn effectiveness test revealed no significant differences, indicating that the reduction in wound diameter was relatively consistent across all test groups. The percentages of wound healing in the negative control, bioplacentone, F1, and F2 were 42.48%, 54.73%, 43.84%, and 65.89%, respectively. Therefore, F2 demonstrated the best wound-healing performance.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder caused by elevated blood glucose levels. The incidence of diabetes mellituscontinues to rise globally, including in Indonesia. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the most common type due to the inabilityof pancreatic beta cells to produce sufficient insulin. Kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura L.) and cocoa pod husk(Theobroma cacao L.) are natural ingredients rich in quercetin and are widely found in Indonesia. A higher quercetincontent correlates with its potential as an antidiabetic candidate. The aim of this research is to develop a standardizedcomprehensive herbal medicine from a combination of cocoa pod husk extract and kersen leaves extract, which isexpected to produce more potent antidiabetic activity with a clearly understood mechanism. This research employs anexperimental laboratory method, including in silico testing, to determine the target proteins of bioactive compounds andanalyze their interactions with alpha-glucosidase and GLUT4, as well as to obtain preliminary toxicity data. The in silicoresults show that quercetin has the best binding affinity compared to natural AGI ligands and GLUT4 targetmacromolecules. There is no amino acid residue similarity interaction was found between quercetin and the targetmacromolecules of AGIs and GLUT4, suggesting that quercetin may potentially bind to eNOS and HIF-1? receptors. Thepharmacokinetic predictions indicate that quercetin has a good pharmacokinetic profile, as it meets several of Lipinski'sRule of Five criteria, making it suitable for oral use.

Abstract

Solanaceae is a family of flowering plants with 83 genera and 2,925 species spread throughout the world. People reuse natural medicines that have been passed down from generation to generation because medical medicines have a big tendency to cause many side effects. This research aims to examine the pharmacological effects and toxicity of plants in the Solanaceae family. This research used 10 plant species, including potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.), golden berries (Physalis angulata L.), tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.), red chilies (Capsicum annuum L.), cayenne peppers (Capsicum frutescens L.), tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), paprika (Capsicum annuum var. grossum), amethyst (Datura stramonium L.), Turkey berry (Solanum torvum Sw.), and black nightshades (Solanum nigrum L.). The journal search method used in this research is the Boolean System method (AND and OR) using the Google Scholar and Sinta databases. The results obtained from this research were that among the 10 plant species of the Solanaceae family studied, there were 3 pharmacological effects with the most data modes, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant effects.

Abstract

Green algae (Spirulina platensis) contains phycocyanins are useful as natural antioxidants. Spirulina platensis extract in phytosome gel preparation intended to increase sorption efficiency, physical stability and antioxidant activity. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of variations ratio of extract to soy lecithin on phytosome characteristics, addition of phytosomes to gel characteristics, and efficiency of sorption on the IC50 of the gel. Extraction of Spirulina platensis using maceration. Optimization of the phytosome formula was carried out with ratio of extract to lecithin, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. Evaluation of phytosomes showed spherical vesicles, particle size 627.9 nm, polydispersity index 0.382, absorption efficiency of 94%, 95%, 96%. Physical evaluation of the gel showed good results in organoleptic, homogeneous, pH in range 6.3-6.4, viscosity in range 3896-3992 cPs, spreadability in range 6-6.5 cm, stickiness in range 5-6 seconds. Based on results of the irritation test, there was no irritation in each formula. The results of the physical stability test for 6 cycles at 4°C and 40°C showed all formulas had stable in all evaluation results except a decreasing pH. The IC50 results of Spirulina platensis extract and phytosome gel 6.53 µg/mL and 21.59 µg/mL are classified as super strength antioxidant category.

Abstract

Kulit kakao memiliki peran penting dalam mencegah diabetes, berfungsi sebagai pengobatan herbal yang membantu proses penurunan diabetes. Namun, di Kabupaten Pesawaran, masyarakat menghadapi tantangan dalam akses terhadap obat berkualitas dan kurangnya kemampuan mengolah tumbuhan pertanian lokal sebagai alternatif pengobatan dan penghasilan. Observasi menunjukkan banyak warga Desa Tanjung Agung kesulitan mendapatkan pengobatan efektif, dengan keterbatasan dana dan masalah dalam rantai pasokan obat. Kurangnya metode pembelajaran yang variatif membuat masyarakat kurang mengenal dan menghargai tanaman tradisional sebagai alternatif pengobatan, padahal warga memiliki kelompok tani kakao yang sangat berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai obat tradisional. Tanpa intervensi yang tepat, pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai pengobatan herbal menjadi sangat terbatas, berpotensi mengakibatkan hilangnya warisan budaya. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang diabetes dan manfaat teh kulit buah kakao dengan menggunakan metode ceramah dan pelatihan. Kegiatan ini meliputi pelatihan pembuatan dan pengecekan kesehatan. Dengan harapan dapat mengatasi permasalahan utama yang diidentifikasi termasuk rendahnya pengetahuan tentang diabetes dan manfaat kulit kakao. Antusias warga begitu besar terhadap adanya kegiatan tersebut, parameter kesuksesan program diukur dari peningkatan pengetahuan peserta saat pretest dan posttest. Hasil analisis data diperoleh terjadinya peningkatan pengetahuan warga dari 49,40% menjadi 87,80%. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, harapannya masyarakat tidak hanya memperoleh keterampilan baru, tetapi juga meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya pengobatan tradisional, sehingga dapat mengembangkan identitas dan kebanggaan terhadap budaya lokal yang melimpah.
