Abstract

Karen Horney's theory of social psychoanalysis is based on the assumption that social and cultural conditions, especially childhood experiences, are very influential in shaping a person's personality. People who do not get enough need for love and affection during childhood develop basic hostility towards their parents and, as a result, experience basic anxiety. The subjects in this study were grade VII-students at MTs Negeri 1 MEDAN who felt that parents' concern for AK was lacking, which caused AK himself to be less free in expression, often ignorant, even AK himself tended not to appreciate others. The reason AK feels that way is because AK's parents often compare AK with his siblings. Unfulfilled love in childhood or lack of parental attention promotes the development of basic anxiety and hostility of each child. Parents' attitudes towards children who often dominate, ignore, overprotect, reject, or overindulge cause feelings of insecurity in a child. Keywords: New-Freudian, lack of affection, childhood

Abstract

Floods are natural events that come suddenly with an uncertain periodicity, except for areas that often experience annual flooding, such as in Tahtul Yemen Village. This flood disaster can cause health problems that threaten society, one of which is the Dangue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) outbreak. This activity aims to carry out mapping of flood-prone areas and dengue-prone areas in Tahtul Yemen Village to provide education about the management and prevention of dengue fever in order to improve the health status of the community, especially those in vulnerable areas. This research is exploratory research with an ecological study research design using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Based on data on flood-prone areas obtained from 12 RTs in Tahtul Yaman Village, 5 RTs had a high percentage of being affected by flooding, 4 RTs had a moderate percentage of being affected by flooding, and 3 RTs had a low percentage of being affected by flooding. Meanwhile, for dengue-prone areas, there are 7 RTs with a low percentage, 3 RTs with a medium percentage, and 2 RTs with a high percentage. In conclusion, it was found that in Tahtul Yaman Subdistrict areas prone to flooding with the highest dominance are in RT 11,12,5,9, and 7 and areas prone to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) are dominant in RT 7 and 9. It is recommended that the areas that have been mapped be included in prone to flooding and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) strengthen drainage systems, green infrastructure, and increase public awareness about disease prevention

Abstract

This article aims to explain how the author Sylvia Plath in her novel The Bell Jar reflects a social problem, namely the stereotypes of women. Women stereotypes are a widespread problem and can be found in women's lives. The stereotypes that have been attached to women can then discredit or vilify women in various ways, including those felt by the main female character in this work, Esther Greenwood. This article uses qualitative method and applies feminist theory to analyze the novel, The Bell Jar. This research reveals that women's lives seem to be regulated and labeled by society, especially what is experienced by the main female character in this novel, Esther. Therefore, the article answers questions regarding what are the stereotypes of women shown in the novel The Bell Jar such as 1) women are required to stay at home and only do housework, 2) women are inferior creatures, and 3) women should look beautiful.

Abstract

Abstract

Dyslipidemia is a major metabolic disorder and a key risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), particularly in the geriatric population. Elderly patients frequently present with multiple comorbidities, such as hypertension and hyperuricemia, which complicate clinical management and substantially increase cardiovascular risk. Moreover, acute conditions, including trauma-related injuries, may further disrupt metabolic control, functional capacity, and adherence to long-term therapy. This case report describes a 70-year-old male patient (RE) who presented to a primary healthcare center with swelling and intermittent pain in the right lower extremity following a fall. The patient had a known history of dyslipidemia, hypertension, and hyperuricemia. Laboratory investigations revealed elevated total cholesterol (242 mg/dL), borderline fasting plasma glucose (102 mg/dL), and uric acid level of 6.6 mg/dL. Physical examination was unremarkable except for edema and localized tenderness in the affected limb, consistent with a soft tissue injury. A holistic management approach was implemented, integrating pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Statin therapy was initiated to address dyslipidemia, antihypertensive treatment was optimized, and analgesic therapy combined with limb elevation was provided to manage acute pain and edema. Non-pharmacological strategies included comprehensive lifestyle modification, encompassing dietary counseling (low saturated fat, low salt, and low purine diet), gradual resumption of physical activity following injury recovery, and structured patient–family education to improve adherence and prevent recurrent falls. Follow-up evaluation demonstrated clinical improvement, including resolution of edema, improved functional mobility, and better metabolic control. The novelty of this case lies in demonstrating how acute trauma in geriatric patients can act as a critical entry point for integrated chronic disease management within primary care settings. This case emphasizes that holistic, biopsychosocial–spiritual management not only improves lipid and blood pressure control but also enhances functional outcomes and quality of life in elderly patients with complex comorbidities.
