Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the potential of urban farming techniques through the cultivation of maggots and zebrafish in Kampung Oase Ondomohen, Surabaya. The partnership activities are expected to increase productivity and foster economic self-reliance among residents by developing creative agricultural enterprises in small and limited spaces. Specifically, the program seeks to address the low productivity and entrepreneurship levels within the community by introducing maggot pellet cultivation and the utilization of narrow aquatic spaces for zebrafish farming. This collaboration with higher education institutions is designed to boost economic opportunities in the area. Another key aspect of the program is to empower community groups to improve their cultivation techniques and innovate in the production of maggot pellets and zebrafish through creative farming practices. The program will be implemented with the community group in Kampung Sayur Ondomohen, Kelurahan Ketabang, Kecamatan Genteng, Surabaya, East Java. The community will receive training to enhance their knowledge of maggot pellet production and zebrafish farming through practical knowledge transfer, workshops, application of drying techniques for maggot pellets, effective pond hygiene management, and zebrafish farming in limited spaces. The partnership will be executed in three stages: site orientation, technical farming education, and workshops to improve knowledge of maggot and zebrafish farming. This will be followed by hands-on training to enhance skills and capabilities in managing maggot and zebrafish cultivation. The program also includes community mentoring, where research-based technologies are applied in real-world scenarios to foster sustainable development

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat Kampoeng Oase Songo di Kelurahan Simomulyo, Surabaya, dalam mengelola limbah organik melalui budidaya maggot (Hermetia illucens) dan memproduksi pelet ikan sebagai pakan alternatif bernutrisi tinggi. Program ini menerapkan pendekatan teknologi tepat guna yang mencakup pelatihan budidaya maggot, formulasi pelet berbasis maggot, digitalisasi pencatatan usaha, dan pelatihan pemasaran digital. Hasil formulasi pelet menunjukkan kandungan protein kasar sebesar 30–32% dan energi metabolisme sekitar 2900–3100 kkal/kg, sesuai standar pakan ikan konsumsi dan unggas. Pelatihan digital marketing meningkatkan keterampilan peserta dalam branding dan pemanfaatan platform e-commerce. Program ini berhasil memperkuat praktik ekonomi sirkular lokal, meningkatkan keterampilan teknis warga, dan memberikan kontribusi terhadap pencapaian SDGs, khususnya dalam ketahanan pangan dan pengelolaan limbah berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Maintaining a green, clean, beautiful, and lush city park through the year requires sustainable management, which includes maintenance like watering, pruning, trimming, and rejuvenation, as well as the creation of new parks. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the successful management of city parks in Surabaya and to understand the organic material cycle involved in managing these parks. This study used qualitative descriptive method. Data were collected through interviews with park management personnel, documentation from various city government policies, and field observations related to park management activities. Data were analysed using triangulation methods. Trees and city parks need regular care, such as pruning and trimming, to provide optimal benefits. Pruning waste, along with other organic waste, is composted at composting facilities or recycling centers widely available in Surabaya. The cyclical management of organic waste from city parks impacts the growth and development of Surabaya's parks while simultaneously solve the problem of organic waste produced by city communities.Although many studies discuss urban green space and waste management in Surabaya, specific research mapping the biomass cycle and circular economy framework in city park management is still limited. Therefore, this study aims to fill that research gap by exploring how circular economy principles are implemented in the Surabaya city park management system.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the economic capacity of Kampoeng Oase Ondemohen residents through the implementation of maggot-based fish pellet production technology, as part of a circular economy development initiative. The program includes community outreach, maggot cultivation training, pellet production, organic waste management, and digital business recording. The results showed significant improvement in community knowledge and skills. Proximate analysis of the produced pellets revealed 10.21% moisture, 6.76% ash, 31.10% protein, 10.11% fat, and 41.82% carbohydrate content, indicating balanced nutrition and compliance with fish feed standards. This initiative also supports SDGs and university performance indicators

Abstract

Tanaman bintaro berpotensi sebagai bahan insektisida botani. Kajian tentang pemanfaatan daun bintaro untuk pengendalian hama belum banyak dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak daun bintaro terhadap biologi serangga Spodoptera litura, sehingga dapat diketahui peluang pemanfaatannya untuk mengendalikan populasi hama tersebut di lapangan. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perlakuan tunggal berupa konsentrasi ekstrak daun bintaro yaitu, 0% (kontrol); 2,5%; 5,0%; 7,5%; 10%; dan 12,5%. Penelitian dilakukan melalui beberapa tahap di antaranya pembuatan ekstrak daun bintaro, pemeliharaan ulat grayak, dan uji kemanjuran ekstrak daun bintaro. Parameter pengamatan meliputi mortalitas hama, umur stadia, dan jumlah konsumsi pakan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun bintaroberpengaruh terhadap mortalitas serangga S. lituraF., memperpanjang masa stadia larva, mempersingkat masa stadia pupa, menurunkan persentase keberhasilan larva menjadi pupa, menurunkan kualitas imago, dan tidak berpengaruh terhadap selera makan.Kata kunci: biologi serangga, daun bintaro, insektisida botani, ulat grayak

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the understanding and skills of community members in utilizing livestock waste for sustainable food sources to handle stunting in Gelangsar Village, West Lombok Regency. The method of implementing this activity was through KOSABANGSA program outreach, training, and mentoring. The evaluation instrument for this activity used an environmental observation sheet and assesses the participation and activeness of participants during the activity. The results of this service activity showed that the community has the ability to process cowshed waste (solid) into 40 bags of compost, create a sustainable food house area using polybags in 8 groups spread throughout the village, and one KRPL point on land with an area of around 250 m2, and the types of plants were spinach, tomatoes, eggplant, chilies, mustard greens, lettuce, basil, long beans, family medicinal plants, and others. Guidance and assistance need to be continued considering that the community was very enthusiastic about being able to overcome stunting in Gelangsar village and at the same time wants to become an organic vegetable producer.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to empower the community by utilizing local food sources processed from taro tubers and Etawa goat's milk to overcome stunting in Genggelang Village, North Lombok Regency. The implementation method of this service included socialization, training, and mentoring. The evaluation instrument for this activity used a pre-test and post-test, which were then analyzed descriptively. The results of this service showed that the community increased knowledge and skills to process the potential of local village food into processed taro flour products, cookies, processed Etawa goat's milk products, and vegetable nuggets. The potential of these products could overcome the problem of stunting and improve the community's economy.

Abstract

Guided inquiry is recognized as an effective instructional model for Vocational High Schools (SMK), as it actively engages students in systematic exploration and investigation with teacher guidance. This study aims to address the problem of low student engagement and learning outcomes by implementing the guided inquiry model in classroom instruction. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, conducted over two cycles, each comprising the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection.The participants consisted of 36 students from Class X of the Agribusiness for Food Crops and Horticulture (ATPH) program at SMK Negeri 1 Purwosari during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection instruments included student engagement observation sheets, evaluation tests, and documentation, with data analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The findings revealed that the guided inquiry model significantly improved both student engagement and learning outcomes in the topic of vegetative propagation. Student engagement increased from 32.81% in the pre-cycle to 70.49% in the first cycle and 84.72% in the second cycle. Similarly, the percentage of students achieving mastery in learning outcomes rose from 38.89% in the pre-cycle to 83.33% in the first cycle and reached 100% in the second cycle.

Abstract

Limbah organik perkotaan jumlahnya semakin meningkat dapat menganggu kesehatan dan menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan. Pemrosesan limbah organik sebagai pupuk organik dapat menjadi salah satu solusi permasalahan limbah. Penelitian bertujuan memanfaatkan pupuk organik cair dari limbah organik perkotaan untuk budidaya tanaman bawang merah. Penelitian dilaksanakan di laboratorium dan kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya mulai bulan April 2020 sampai Agustus 2021. Percobaan faktorial dengan perlakuan faktor 1 adalah bahan baku pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) yang terdiri dari 7 level yaitu P1 = POC campuran 6 bahan jenis limbah, P2 = POC dari limbah sayuran, P3 = POC dari limbah buah, P4 = POC dari limbah kecambah, P5 = POC dari limbah makanan, P6 = POC dari limbah ikan lele, dan P7 = POC dari limbah darah sapi. Perlakuan faktor 2 adalah konsentrasi larutan POC yang terdiri K1 = 4%, K2 = 8%, dan K3 = 12%. Percobaan dilaksanakan dengan rancangan acak kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis bahan baku dan konsentrasi pupuk organik cair tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap variabel pertumbuhan (panjang tanaman dan jumlah daun) serta hasil tanaman bawang merah (berat panen dan berat konsumsi). Jenis bahan baku pupuk organik cair berpengaruh nyata terhadap rendemen (berat kering konsumsi dibanding berat panen), yaitu pupuk organik cair dari limbah ikan, darah sapi dan campuran 6 bahan menunjukkan rendemen yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan bahan baku sayuran, buah, kecambah dan limbah makanan (catering).

Abstract

The beauty and benefits of plants in the Green Open Space are often disturbed by mistletoes. The existence of mistletoes often indicates the occurrence of disturbances or damage to the host plants that are parasitized. The mistletoes has been widely known by the community, but has never received attention in handling it. There has been little research on crop damage or loss caused by mistletoes. The purpose of this research is to know the existence of mistletoe and to know the pattern of distribution of mistletoe in green open space of Surabaya city. The study was conducted using the exploration method with emphasis to observe the distribution of mistletoes and identification of the type of mistletoe obtained. The results showed that the distribution of mistletoes in green open space in Surabaya tend to be grouped according to the distribution pattern of host plants. There are three types of mistletoes that mistletoe green open space plants in the city of Surabaya namely Dendrophtoe pentandra (L.) (very dominant), Macrosolen cochinchinensis (Lour.)
