Abstract

The growth in the number of vehicles in Yogyakarta has contributed to increased air pollution, despite a significant decline during the COVID-19 pandemic. To mitigate these environmental impacts, the government is promoting a bicycle-friendly city program, but its effectiveness still requires support in the form of adequate facilities, strong regulations, and public awareness of cycling. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method that combined literature review, interviews, and field observations as triangulation techniques. This approach aimed to obtain an in-depth picture of the implementation of bicycle-friendly city policies in Yogyakarta and the obstacles that arose in their implementation. The results show that the development of bicycle lanes not only supports environmentally friendly mobility but also encourages local economic growth. From an economic perspective, the existence of bicycle lanes not only facilitates environmentally friendly mobility but also encourages local economic growth through bicycle-based tourism, sporting events, and the empowerment of MSMEs. From an environmental perspective, the construction of bicycle lanes is in line with air pollution control, noise reduction, and the development of green open spaces that continue to pay attention to ecosystem sustainability and support climate change mitigation. Meanwhile, from a social perspective, the government has implemented various educational programs and cycling campaigns from an early age to the public, which are reinforced by the development of supporting infrastructure such as special lanes, traffic signs, and bicycle parking. Overall, community involvement is an important factor in supporting this policy because its success depends not only on regulations but also on the collective awareness of citizens. This policy demonstrates the integrated efforts of the Yogyakarta City government in creating a sustainable, inclusive Cycling City that supports the welfare of the community

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to look at government policies in realizing environmentally friendly public transportation, especially public transportation that is integrated with waste management. The research method uses a qualitative method with a case study approach on public transportation in the city of Surabaya. Based on the results of the study, to realize a sustainable city and reduce congestion and waste in the city of Surabaya, the government has made a policy of paying for public transportation using plastic bottle waste. The use of payments with plastic bottles greatly helps the government in breaking down existing waste and encouraging people to use public transportation in the city of Surabaya, especially for the Suroboyo Bus. In addition, to support and strengthen environmentally friendly public transportation, the Surabaya City Government has begun to replace the fleet with electric public transportation. The change in transportation modes from fossil fuels to electricity is also government support in realizing sustainable public transportation in Indonesia. The conclusion of this study is that the government has a policy to reduce waste and congestion problems, one of which is by paying for public transportation using waste. To strengthen this policy, the government also integrates all urban transportation in Surabaya, with the GoBis application. The integration of public transportation management is the seriousness of the Surabaya City Government in overcoming urban problems.

Abstract

The palm oil industry is a strategic sector in the Indonesian economy that plays a major role in foreign exchange earnings, job creation, and rural development. This study aims to analyze the impact of economic and political policies on the performance of Indonesia's palm oil export industry, focusing on the dynamics of regulation, incentives, exchange rates, as well as diplomatic relations and political stability. The method used is descriptive-analytical qualitative with a literature review approach and content analysis of various policy documents, scientific publications, and national statistical data. The results of the study indicate that export quota policies, fiscal incentives, and bilateral/multilateral trade agreements have a significant impact on the volume of exports and the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil. Domestic political stability and international relations also determine the success of policies and the attractiveness of foreign investment. Considering environmental pressures and global sustainability demands, this study recommends the formulation of export policies that strike a better balance between economic growth, social justice, and environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Along with the increasing number of elderly population, Yogyakarta City faces challenges in fulfilling green open space (RTH) that is friendly for elderly welfare. This study aims to evaluate the Yogyakarta City Government's policy in providing and managing RTH to enchance the quality of life of the elderly. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study examines the effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, responsiveness, and relevance of the policy using William N. Dunn's policy evaluation theory as a framework. Data were gathered through interviews with the Environmental Service of Yogyakarta City. The findings of the study show that although the RTH policy has been regulated in regional and national regulations, its implementation still faces various challenges. Some of them are limited land, unequal distribution of RTH between regions, lack of elderly-friendly facilities, and minimal community participation in planning. In addition, constraints in budget management also hinder the optimization of RTH utilization. Therefore, a strategy is needed to increase accessibility, strengthen regulations, and actively involve the elderly in the planning process. With these steps, it is hoped that RTH in Yogyakarta City can be more inclusive and contribute to the welfare of the elderly.
