Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of mediation services in improving students’ interpersonal relationships at SMK Swasta Kristen Tomosa 2. Interpersonal conflicts characterized by miscommunication, unhealthy competition, and peer disputes have negatively affected the learning climate, highlighting the need for empirically tested interventions. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest control group design. A total of 30 students were selected through simple random sampling and assigned to experimental and control groups. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that met validity and reliability criteria (Cronbach’s alpha > 0.60). Data analysis included normality and homogeneity tests, an independent sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 < 0.05). The experimental group achieved an average N-Gain score of 66% (moderate category), while the control group obtained 17% (low category). These findings indicate that mediation services are effective in enhancing students’ interpersonal relationships, particularly in terms of trust, openness, communication skills, and constructive conflict resolution.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of students’ honesty character, reflected in behaviors such as cheating, lying, and denying mistakes at SMK Negeri 3 Hiliserangkai. The research aimed to analyze the effect of classical guidance services and information services on improving students’ honesty character, both simultaneously and partially. A quantitative associative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of 190 students, with a purposive sample of 30 eleventh-grade TKJ students. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and were analyzed using prerequisite tests and regression hypothesis testing. The findings revealed that classical guidance and information services had a significant effect on enhancing students’ honesty character, both jointly and individually. Improvement was indicated by the difference in scores before and after the intervention. These results confirm that structured guidance and counseling interventions are effective in strengthening the internalization of honesty values and contribute significantly to the reinforcement of character education in schools.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of group guidance services employing role-playing techniques in reducing social anxiety among eighth-grade students. A quantitative approach was applied using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The population consisted of 60 students, and 30 participants were selected through purposive sampling based on initial screening results indicating moderate to high levels of social anxiety. Data were collected using a Likert-scale social anxiety questionnaire developed from established theoretical indicators and tested for validity and reliability through a pilot study. Data collection was conducted in two stages: pretest administration prior to the intervention and posttest following four structured treatment sessions. Data analysis began with prerequisite tests, including normality (Shapiro–Wilk), homogeneity (Levene’s test), and linearity, confirming that the data met parametric assumptions. Hypothesis testing was conducted using a paired sample t-test, followed by multiple regression analysis to examine simultaneous effects, and the coefficient of determination (R²) to measure effect size. The findings revealed a statistically significant decrease in social anxiety scores after the intervention, with an effective contribution of 66.8%, indicating both statistical and substantive impact of the treatment.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The quality of education is strongly influenced by learning processes that encourage active student engagement. Teacher-centered instruction at SMP Negeri 4 Idanogawo has contributed to the low learning motivation of seventh-grade students. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the role-playing technique in enhancing students’ learning motivation. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (pretest–posttest control group design). The sample consisted of 32 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire that had met validity and reliability requirements and were analyzed using the N-gain test to measure the level of improvement in motivation. The findings revealed that the experimental class achieved an average N-gain score of 0.68, categorized as moderate to high (effective), while the control class obtained an N-gain score of 0.29, categorized as low (ineffective). This difference indicates that the implementation of the role-playing technique resulted in a more significant increase in learning motivation compared to conventional instruction. Therefore, the role-playing technique is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance students’ learning motivation in junior high schools. ABSTRAK Mutu pendidikan sangat dipengaruhi oleh proses pembelajaran yang mampu mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa. Pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru di SMP Negeri 4 Idanogawo berdampak pada rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas teknik role playing dalam memperkuat motivasi belajar siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (pretest–posttest control group design). Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa yang dibagi ke dalam kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket motivasi belajar yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji N-gain untuk mengukur tingkat peningkatan motivasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata N-gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,68 yang berada pada kategori sedang–tinggi (efektif), sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh nilai N-gain sebesar 0,29 yang berada pada kategori rendah (tidak efektif). Perbedaan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik role playing memberikan peningkatan motivasi belajar yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian, teknik role playing dapat direkomendasikan sebagai strategi pembelajaran alternatif untuk mendukung peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa di sekolah menengah pertama.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Academic procrastination is a tendency to delay completing tasks despite being aware of its negative impact on learning outcomes, and it remains a significant issue among students at SMK Negeri 1 Lolomatua, affecting academic achievement and learning discipline. Although various counseling approaches have been implemented to address this behavior, experimental studies specifically examining the effectiveness of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in vocational school settings remain limited, highlighting the need for more measurable and context-specific investigation. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of SFBT in reducing students’ academic procrastination. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design involving 30 students selected purposively and proportionally assigned to experimental and control groups, where the experimental group received structured SFBT counseling sessions focusing on strength identification, goal setting, and solution formulation, while the control group received no intervention. Data were analyzed using an independent samples t-test at a 0.05 significance level after meeting the prerequisite statistical assumptions. The results showed that the posttest mean score of the experimental group (77.73) was lower than that of the control group (87.73), with a t-value of 3.12 and p < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference. These findings confirm that SFBT is an effective strength-based, brief, and practical intervention for reducing academic procrastination in vocational school contexts and is relevant for implementation in school counseling services. ABSTRAK Prokrastinasi akademik merupakan kecenderungan menunda penyelesaian tugas meskipun menyadari dampak negatifnya terhadap hasil belajar dan masih menjadi permasalahan nyata pada siswa SMK Negeri 1 Lolomatua sehingga memengaruhi capaian akademik serta kedisiplinan belajar. Meskipun berbagai pendekatan konseling telah diterapkan untuk mengatasi perilaku tersebut, penelitian eksperimental yang secara khusus menguji efektivitas Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) pada konteks sekolah kejuruan masih terbatas, sehingga diperlukan kajian yang lebih terukur dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas SFBT dalam menurunkan prokrastinasi akademik siswa. Penelitian menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan model Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design terhadap 30 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive dan dibagi secara proporsional ke dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kontrol, di mana kelompok eksperimen memperoleh layanan konseling SFBT melalui sesi terstruktur yang menekankan identifikasi kekuatan, penetapan tujuan, dan perumusan solusi, sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak diberikan perlakuan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 setelah memenuhi asumsi prasyarat analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor posttest kelompok eksperimen (77,73) lebih rendah dibandingkan kelompok kontrol (87,73) dengan nilai t hitung 3,12 dan p < 0,05, yang menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa SFBT efektif sebagai intervensi berbasis kekuatan yang singkat dan aplikatif dalam menurunkan prokrastinasi akademik di sekolah kejuruan serta relevan untuk diimplementasikan dalam layanan bimbingan dan konseling.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is grounded in the importance of peer conformity in shaping adolescents’ academic behavior at the junior high school level, where peer group pressure may function adaptively or maladaptively toward academic achievement. The focus of this research is to analyze the effect of peer conformity on students’ academic achievement at SMP Negeri 2 Gido. The study employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory correlational design, which is methodologically more appropriate than the term causal-comparative because the study examines the relationship and direction of influence between variables without manipulating treatment conditions. The sample consisted of 30 students from class VIII-C selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had met validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis included prerequisite tests (normality, homogeneity, and linearity) followed by simple linear regression to examine the predictive relationship model between variables. The results indicate that peer conformity has a negative and significant effect on academic achievement (p = 0.015 < 0.05), meaning that the higher the conformity to non-academic group norms, the lower the students’ academic performance. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening a positive academic culture and fostering constructive peer group dynamics as preventive strategies to enhance students’ academic achievement. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya peran konformitas teman sebaya dalam membentuk perilaku akademik remaja pada jenjang sekolah menengah pertama, di mana tekanan kelompok dapat berdampak adaptif maupun maladaptif terhadap capaian belajar. Fokus penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh konformitas teman sebaya terhadap prestasi belajar siswa di SMP Negeri 2 Gido. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional eksplanatori, yang secara metodologis lebih tepat dibandingkan istilah kausal komparatif karena penelitian ini menguji hubungan dan arah pengaruh antarvariabel tanpa manipulasi perlakuan. Sampel berjumlah 30 siswa kelas VIII-C yang ditentukan melalui teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan angket skala Likert yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data mencakup uji prasyarat (normalitas, homogenitas, dan linearitas) serta regresi linear sederhana sebagai teknik untuk menguji model hubungan prediktif antarvariabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konformitas teman sebaya berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar (p = 0,015 < 0,05), yang berarti semakin tinggi konformitas pada norma kelompok non-akademik maka semakin rendah capaian belajar siswa. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan budaya akademik positif dan pembinaan dinamika kelompok sebaya sebagai strategi preventif dalam meningkatkan prestasi belajar.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance students’ understanding and awareness of the dangers of bullying and cyberbullying through classical Guidance and Counseling (GC) services at SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli. The main issue addressed is the low level of students’ knowledge regarding the forms, impacts, and prevention strategies of bullying and cyberbullying in both school environments and digital spaces. The program was implemented using communicative material delivery, case-based group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and simple simulations designed to foster empathy and mutual respect. The activities were conducted in a structured manner involving lecturers and students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of bullying and cyberbullying concepts, increased awareness of their psychological and social impacts, and the development of attitudes rejecting all forms of verbal, physical, and digital violence. Furthermore, classical GC services proved effective as a preventive approach in creating a safe, comfortable, and supportive school environment. In conclusion, this PKM activity provides a meaningful contribution to strengthening empathy, social responsibility, and an anti-bullying culture in schools.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Bullying behavior in the school environment remains a serious issue affecting students’ social and emotional development. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of behavioral counseling in reducing bullying among eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gido. The study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design. The sample consisted of 90 students from class XI-1 selected through cluster random sampling. The intervention was conducted in six group counseling sessions, each lasting 60 minutes over three weeks. Data were collected using a bullying behavior questionnaire that had met validity and reliability standards. The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and N-Gain analysis to measure the effectiveness of the intervention. The results showed a significant decrease after the intervention, with an N-Gain value of 88.36% (effective category) and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. These findings indicate that behavioral counseling is effective as an intervention strategy in guidance and counseling services to reduce aggressive behavior in schools. Practically, the results provide empirical evidence for school counselors in designing structured and sustainable counseling programs to foster more adaptive and positive student behavior. ABSTRAK Perilaku bullying di lingkungan sekolah masih menjadi persoalan serius yang berdampak pada perkembangan sosial dan emosional peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas konseling behavioral dalam menurunkan tingkat bullying pada peserta didik kelas XI di SMA Negeri 1 Gido. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen one group pretest–posttest. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 90 peserta didik kelas XI-1 yang dipilih melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Intervensi dilaksanakan dalam enam sesi konseling kelompok, masing-masing berdurasi 60 menit selama tiga minggu. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket perilaku bullying yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Data dianalisis menggunakan paired sample t-test dan uji N-Gain untuk mengukur efektivitas perlakuan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya penurunan yang signifikan setelah pemberian layanan, dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 88,36% (kategori efektif) dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa konseling behavioral efektif sebagai strategi intervensi dalam layanan bimbingan dan konseling untuk menekan kecenderungan perilaku agresif di sekolah. Secara praktis, hasil penelitian ini memberikan dasar empiris bagi guru BK dalam merancang program konseling yang terstruktur dan berkelanjutan guna membentuk perilaku peserta didik yang lebih adaptif dan positif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the increasing academic pressure that affects students’ emotional conditions, concentration, and learning motivation, thereby requiring effective guidance and counseling interventions to help students manage academic stress. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of group counseling services using coping strategies in reducing students’ learning stress. The research employed a quantitative method with an experimental approach using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population consisted of all students of SMP Negeri 3 Bawolato in the 2024/2025 academic year, with samples selected through purposive sampling, namely class VIII-A as the experimental group and class VIII-B as the control group, based on preliminary observations indicating relatively high levels of learning stress. The research instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale that met validity and reliability requirements, with a Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.909, indicating high reliability. Data were collected through pretest and posttest procedures and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent t-test with the assistance of SPSS version 25 at a significance level of 0.05. The results revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups after the intervention, indicating that group counseling services with coping strategies are effective in reducing students’ learning stress. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya tekanan akademik yang berdampak pada kondisi emosional, konsentrasi, dan motivasi belajar siswa, sehingga diperlukan intervensi bimbingan dan konseling yang efektif untuk membantu siswa mengelola stres belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas layanan konseling kelompok dengan strategi coping dalam menurunkan stres belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan eksperimen menggunakan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa SMP Negeri 3 Bawolato Tahun Pelajaran 2024/2025, dengan sampel yang ditentukan melalui teknik purposive sampling, yaitu kelas VIII-A sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIII-B sebagai kelompok kontrol berdasarkan hasil observasi awal yang menunjukkan tingkat stres belajar relatif tinggi. Instrumen penelitian berupa angket tertutup skala Likert lima tingkat yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,909, sehingga dinyatakan reliabel. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest dan posttest, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji t-test dengan bantuan SPSS versi 25 pada taraf signifikansi 0,05. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol setelah perlakuan diberikan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa layanan konseling kelompok dengan strategi coping efektif dalam menurunkan stres belajar siswa.

Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa yang dibagi ke dalam kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket motivasi belajar yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji N-gain untuk mengukur tingkat peningkatan motivasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata N-gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,68 yang berada pada kategori sedang–tinggi (efektif), sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh nilai N-gain sebesar 0,29 yang berada pada kategori rendah (tidak efektif). Perbedaan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik role playing memberikan peningkatan motivasi belajar yang lebih signifikan dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian, teknik role playing dapat direkomendasikan sebagai strategi pembelajaran alternatif untuk mendukung peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa di sekolah menengah pertama.
