Abstract

Abstract

Students’ numeracy literacy remains a significant challenge in higher education, particularly for prospective elementary teachers who must apply mathematical concepts in real-life contexts. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of Gorontalo culture-based mathematics learning in enhancing numeracy literacy among fifth-semester students in the Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah program at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. A one-group pretest–posttest experimental design was employed with 38 students, using validated essay tests to measure their ability to interpret quantitative information, solve contextual problems, and apply numerical reasoning. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and N-Gain analysis. Results indicated a significant improvement in numeracy literacy, with mean scores increasing from 38.98 in the pretest to 77.82 in the posttest (Z = -5.374, p < 0.001). The mean N-Gain score of 0.64 reflected moderate effectiveness. The integration of specific Gorontalo cultural elements, including Karawo embroidery motifs, traditional house architecture (Dulohupa and Bandayo Poboide), and musical instruments (Polopalo and Gambus), helped students relate abstract geometric concepts to familiar contexts and increased engagement. In conclusion, Gorontalo culture-based mathematics learning is an effective and innovative approach to improve numeracy literacy while fostering cultural awareness among prospective teachers. This study highlights the value of integrating ethnomathematics in higher education to strengthen both mathematical competence and appreciation of local wisdom.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Project-Based Flex Blended Learning (PjBFBL) model in improving students' critical thinking skills on Ohm's Law material in science courses. The quasi-experimental method uses a Nonequivalent Control Group Design with 41 fourth semester students divided into experimental (PjBFBL) and control (conventional) groups. Instruments include critical thinking tests based on seven indicators (interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, self-regulation, essential questions), analyzed using N-Gain, T-test, and effect size. Results showed the experimental group achieved a moderate N-Gain improvement (0.63) with the highest categories in inference (0.78; high) and explanation (0.73; high), while the control group only had a low N-Gain (0.28). The independent T-test confirmed the significant difference (t (25,092) = 7.230; p<0.05) with an average difference of 35.78% and a large effect size (Cohen's d=2.299). The research conclusion indicates that the PjBFBL model effectively improves critical thinking skills, particularly in multidimensional reasoning and information synthesis, through the integration of authentic projects, hybrid flexibility, and structured collaboration. The findings recommend the adoption of this model in science learning to bridge the 21st century competency gap, noting the need to strengthen the interpretation aspect through more contextualized instruments

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the panjurang board media in improving the arithmetic ability of third-grade students of SDN 2 Limboto, Gorontalo Regency on the material of arithmetic operations of whole numbers. The type of research used in this study is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques used observation, tests and documentation. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in students' arithmetic ability after the application of the panjurang media. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage of students' abilities only reached 58.63%, then increased in cycle I to 82.26%, and continued to increase in cycle II to reach 92.04%. Thus, the difference in the comparison from pre-cycle - cycle I is 23.63%, the difference in the comparison from cycle I - cycle II is 9.78% then from pre-cycle - cycle II has a difference comparison of 33.41%. Students' arithmetic ability is improved through the use of panjurang media which is implemented in two cycles, each consisting of two meetings. Learning activities begin with the preparation stage, including the preparation of learning media to be used and the implementation of observations by researchers during the process.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether there is an effect of the use of tangram media on the learning outcomes of mathematics on the material of flat shapes of grade III SDN 11 Limboto. This study uses a quantitative research type with a pre-experimental approach. The population in this study were all 26 students of grade III SDN 11 Limboto. Data collection techniques used observation, tests and documentation. The results of this study show that before the application of tangram media on the material of flat shapes phase B of grade III SDN 11 Limboto, as many as 3 students achieved the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKTP), while 23 other students had not achieved the KKTP. After learning using tangram media, there was an increase, where 22 students managed to achieve the KKTP score, and 4 students still did not meet the KKTP. The KKTP for the subject of Mathematics for grade III was set at 75. The results of the paired sample t-Test showed that the value of │ │=│7.74216│with a significance level of 5%. Because Because │ │=│7.74216│> value then the alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected. This shows a positive influence of the use of tangram media on student learning outcomes in the material of flat shapes. This increase is also seen from the difference in average scores, namely the pretest of 57.42 and the posttest of 79.35, which indicates a significant increase in student understanding.
