Abstract

Education is a key determinant of economic development and should be viewed as a long-term investment in improving the human development index. Weak support for the education sector can lead to issues such as unemployment, crime, drug abuse, and increased social dependency. This study examines the effect of completion levels in vocational, academic, and professional higher education on Indonesia’s economic growth, as well as its implications for labor absorption and human development index improvement. Using a quantitative approach, the study applies multiple linear regression and panel data analysis, with higher education completion rates as independent variables and economic growth as the dependent variable. The results show that completion levels in vocational, academic, and professional higher education have a significant effect on economic growth. In addition, economic growth has a positive and significant influence on labor absorption and human development index improvement. The findings confirm that increasing access to and the quality of higher education contribute substantially to national economic growth, which in turn plays a key role in reducing unemployment and enhancing the quality of life of the Indonesian population through improved human development index.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in supporting Indonesia’s economic growth, particularly in the culinary sector. As consumer demand for safe, high-quality, and religiously compliant food products continues to increase, halal certification has become an important factor influencing purchasing decisions among Indonesia’s predominantly Muslim population. Beyond regulatory compliance, halal certification serves as a strategic tool for enhancing product value and business competitiveness. This Community Service Program (PKM), entitled “Halal Certification Strategy as a Value-Added Driver for Culinary MSME Products in Bantaragung Village, Sindangwangi District, Majalengka Regency, West Java,” was conducted on May 8–9, 2026, in collaboration with the Bantaragung Village Government. The program was organized by lecturers from STEBI Bina Essa Bandung Barat, Tri Bhakti College of Economics, Wibawa Karta Raharja College of Economics, and STIE Bisnis Indonesia. Eleven local culinary MSME representatives participated in the activities. The program employed educational workshops, interactive discussions, consultations, and mentoring sessions focused on halal certification procedures and implementation. The results demonstrated improved participant understanding of the importance of halal certification, application requirements, economic benefits, and strategies for integrating halal certification into business development efforts. Participants also gained greater awareness of halal product assurance standards and their role in maintaining consumer trust. The program concludes that halal certification can effectively increase the added value of culinary MSME products, strengthen market competitiveness, and support sustainable business growth through expanded market access and enhanced consumer confidence.

This study focuses on the level of taxpayer compliance. It aims to obtain empirical evidence on the influence of taxpayer awareness, tax socialization, and E-filing on taxpayer compliance with tax sanctions, with E-filing as a moderating variable. This study uses a quantitative research design. This research was conducted using a questionnaire distributed to all taxpayers in Bekasi City; 180 questionnaires were distributed via WhatsApp. Each questionnaire distributed contains 22 items for taxpayers to answer. To obtain the results of this study, the researcher used PLS-SEM version 3.0. This study found that taxpayer awareness and the implementation of E-filing had a positive and significant effect on taxpayer compliance, whereas tax socialization had a positive but nonsignificant effect. Tax sanctions are unable to moderate the influence of taxpayer awareness and tax socialization on taxpayer compliance, whereas they can moderate the effect of E-filing implementation on taxpayer compliance. In addition, there are several differences with previous research. Among them are the variables used and the research site location.
