Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) is crucial in creating a safe, inclusive learning environment that supports the psychological development of elementary school students. However, the implementation of CFS in many schools still faces challenges, particularly in terms of management, teacher readiness, and the availability of supporting facilities. This study aims to analyze how school management develops CFS and how these efforts contribute to improving students’ psychological well-being. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, and students, as well as analysis of school documents. The study includes identification of initial conditions and needs mapping, analysis of child protection policies and programs, evaluation of CFS implementation in classrooms and the school environment, and assessment of its impact on indicators of students’ psychological well-being. The results indicate that CFS development is carried out through the formulation of child protection policies, enhancement of teachers’ capacity in positive parenting, strengthening guidance and counseling services, and provision of child-friendly facilities such as counseling rooms and safe play areas. The findings also show increased student self-confidence, reduced learning anxiety, and improved academic motivation. Overall, the study concludes that school management that consistently applies CFS principles is able to create a safe and supportive learning environment, thereby significantly contributing to the improvement of students’ psychological well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the concept of meritocracy in education management as an effort to prevent nepotism in the recruitment process for elementary school teachers. Meritocracy is seen as an approach that emphasizes individual competence, qualifications, and achievements in the selection process for educators, while nepotism is often an obstacle in creating a professional and ethical educational environment. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with data collection through questionnaires distributed to students in education study programs who have acquired a basic understanding of educational management and teacher recruitment systems. The data were analyzed to describe the students' level of understanding, attitudes, and views on the application of meritocracy principles and their awareness of the negative impacts of nepotism in the world of education. The results show that the majority of students have a positive perception of meritocracy as a fair and effective system for improving the quality of educators. However, some students acknowledge that nepotism is still common in the education sector and is considered to undermine professionalism and public trust. These findings emphasize the importance of instilling meritocratic values from the university level and strengthening competency-based recruitment policies to support the creation of a transparent and high-quality education system.

Abstract

This study analyzes the application of SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) as a strategic instrument in planning quality improvement in elementary schools. The main focus of this study is how SWOT analysis can help schools formulate adaptive, collaborative, and sustainability-oriented policies amid the challenges of globalization and digital transformation. This analytical approach not only serves as a tool for identifying the internal and external conditions of schools, but also as a reflective mechanism to strengthen the participation of all stakeholders, including principals, teachers, parents, and the community, in creating a culture of sustainable quality. The results of the study show that the application of SWOT can improve the effectiveness of school strategic planning through the formulation of policies based on data and real needs, strengthen adaptive capabilities to policy changes, and encourage more visionary and measurable decision-making. Critically, this study emphasizes that SWOT analysis is not merely an administrative procedure, but part of the transformation of educational management towards a reflective, participatory, and quality-oriented system. Through the optimal utilization of internal strengths and external opportunities, elementary schools can become learning institutions that are resilient, innovative, and relevant to the needs of the 21st century.
