Abstract

Background: Indonesia is situated on three major tectonic plates, making it highly susceptible to earthquakes. These disasters can cause significant material and psychological damage. Coping mechanisms are crucial for dealing with the stress following an earthquake, as they influence positive psychological changes. Research also shows that resilience affects psychological recovery after disasters. Objective: This study aims to examine the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between coping mechanisms and post-traumatic growth among adolescent earthquake survivors. Method: A quantitative descriptive approach was used with 201 high school students from the Cianjur District, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Brief-COPE for coping mechanisms, RS-14 for resilience, and PTGI-SF for post-traumatic growth. Results: The results show significant direct relationships between the variables. The direct effect of coping mechanisms on post-traumatic growth is 42.4%, while the effect through resilience is 10.9%. Conclusion: Resilience does not mediate the relationship between coping mechanisms and post-traumatic growth. The study highlights the importance of focusing on coping mechanisms to enhance post-traumatic growth in adolescent earthquake survivors.

Objective: This study examines personality traits and socio-demographic factors as likely predictors of succession planning among family-owned businesses in Ibadan metropolis. Cross-sectional survey design using purposive sampling technique was used to sample seven family-owned businesses. Data were collected from 120 participants using standardized questionnaires. Zero-order correlation statistics and multiple regression analysis were utilized to analyze the collected data. Results: The result revealed that personality traits jointly predicted succession planning among participants. Also, age, education, gender, job status, marital status, and work experience jointly predicted succession planning among participants. Finally, marital status and work experience independently predicted succession planning. Conclusion: Personality traits and socio-demographic factors were robust predictors of succession planning among family-owned businesses in Ibadan. The novelty of this finding is that succession planning is rarely studied among family-owned businesses.

Many face challenges in psychological well-being and emotional regulation, impacting their classroom effectiveness and resilience. Objective: This study examines psychological well-being and emotional regulation among Indonesian pre-service teachers and the influence of demographic factors. Method: A quantitative correlational design was used, with data gathered from 583 pre-service teachers in Indonesian. Psychological well-being and emotional regulation were measured using validated scales, and ANOVA was employed to assess differences across demographic factors. Results: Results show that many pre-service teachers have low to medium levels of psychological well-being, with significant variation in emotional regulation abilities. Demographic factors—gender, age, employment status, and teaching placement—did not significantly affect these aspects. Conclusion: The findings indicate that PWB and ER are not significantly affected by demographic factors like age, gender, employment status, or teaching placement. This suggests that challenges in these areas are widely experienced across different demographic groups, emphasizing the universal.
