Abstract

This community service aims to support local food security at Masjid Berkah Box through the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT)-based aquaponic technology. The activities began with location observation and identification of available resources. Next, the team designed an aquaponic system that integrates temperature, humidity, and water flow monitoring using sensors and the Arduino platform. The system implementation includes the installation of water pumps, filters, and sensors, as well as initial trials to ensure the stability of environmental parameters for the growth of fish and plants. Training and education were provided to the community on how to maintain the IoT-based aquaponic system, with the goal of enhancing knowledge and skills in modern agriculture. The results of the service showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills regarding aquaponic technology, as evidenced by pre-and post-training surveys. A total of 80.7% of participants felt they had a better understanding of the aquaponic concept after the training, and 66.19% felt more confident to engage in aquaponic activities. Periodic evaluations were conducted to monitor plant growth and fish health, which showed that the system operates efficiently and is capable of providing a sustainable food source. The implications of this activity include the utilization of previously unproductive land into valuable resources and improving the quality of life of the community by providing healthy food and additional income from the sale of aquaponic products. This program also contributes to reducing air pollution and mosquito populations in the vicinity of the mosque

Abstract

Competencies that must be mastered by teachers include being able to apply learning models that are in accordance with the development of the educational curriculum. One of the learning models that supports the realization of kurikulum merdeka is a project-based learning model. Community service activities were carried out by involving Raudhatul Atfhal teachers of DAU District, stakeholders, and a team of experts as resource persons. The community service method used is the Community Based Research (CBR) method. The tools used in this activity are the RRA (Rapid Rural Appraisal) technique. The stages in this service activity refer to the CBR stages and are guided by the RRA technique. The activity partners are RA teachers in DAU District, but for the pilloting project, the assistance is carried out on 21 representative teachers from all RAs in DAU District. The results of service activities showed an increase in understanding that was seen in the results of the initial survey, as many as 5 teachers (23.8%) expressed their agreement, and 7 teachers (33.3%) stated that they quite agreed that the implementation of the PjBL model must incur large costs and can only be applied optimally by institutions that have adequate facilities. Meanwhile, the results of the final survey showed an increase in understanding, especially related to the technical understanding of PjBL in terms of utilizing the surrounding environment to save the cost of toys. In fact, the assessment related to the benefits of the information presented showed that 90% of the participants strongly agreed with the average answer reaching 4.9. These results can be interpreted as participants feeling a lot of benefits to the implementation of activities. Teachers who originally considered the merdeka curriculum with the PjBL learning model were complicated activities.

Abstract

Urbanization in Jakarta has led to the development of slum settlements characterized by poor sanitation and limited access to clean water. This environment significantly increases the risk of intestinal protozoan parasitic infections (IPPIs), which are known to cause diarrhea and adversely affect the growth and development of children—key factors in the success of Indonesia's Emas 2045 initiative. To address this, the community service team from FKIK UNIKA Atma Jaya conducted a free fecal examination program for students at a public school in the Penjaringan District, a slum area in North Jakarta. The program included several phases: preparation, education, microscopic examination, and evaluation, involving both the school and the students' parents or guardians. Diagnostic methods utilized were direct examination and a modified Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) staining technique. Out of 223 participants, 16.6% were found to be infected with IPPIs. The analysis revealed no significant correlation between infection rates and grade levels (p=0.106). This initiative is expected to enhance awareness among parents and students about IPPIs, leading to improved personal hygiene and sanitation practices. It also provides valuable data to authorities for assessing and formulating preventive policies against IPPIs

Abstract

Technological developments are increasingly developing, especially in the world of aviation. Therefore, aviation vocational institutions provide sources of knowledge and technology that can be implemented in several ways, including by carrying out community service activities related to aviation technology. Currently, the aerospace insight possessed by the community is still limited, especially for students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa. This PkM activity aims to provide education to the community as basic capital to increase aerospace insight needed by the job market in the aviation sector. The method used in this activity is counselling by providing material about technology in the world of aviation. The results of this activity show that students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa experienced an increase in knowledge about technology in the world of aviation, as evidenced by the percentage of participant posttests of 85% for increased scores and 0% for decreased scores. From this counselling, it can be concluded that participants can gain new knowledge about aviation technology from the implementation of this activity.
