Abstract

The family is not only seen as the smallest unit of society, but also as the domestic Church (ecclesia domestica), where faith is instilled, lived, and passed on. In light of Catholic Church teachings, the family is the primary basis of Catholic Religious Education, shaping the character and spirituality of the congregation from an early age. However, amidst social dynamics and the rapid development of digital technology, the congregation's awareness of the family's identity as a domestic Church is weakening. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of congregational formation and pastoral practices in realizing the Church as a domestic family and their relevance to Catholic Religious Education in Aimutin Parish, Dili. The study used a qualitative-descriptive method with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The focus of the study includes identifying pastoral challenges, development strategies, implementation of family programs, and the roles of families and pastors in church life. The results show that ethnic diversity, low congregational participation, minimal systematic faith formation, socio-economic challenges, and the influence of digital culture are the main obstacles to strengthening the family as a domestic Church. This situation has a direct impact on the effectiveness of Catholic Religious Education in the family environment. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of ongoing faith formation, the development of a digital-based pastoral approach, and the empowerment of families as the primary subjects of faith education and implementers of the Church's mission in daily life. Abstract

Education is a continuous process aimed at shaping the quality of human beings who continue to develop as preparation for the future. Basic education plays an important role as an initial foundation in building students’ academic abilities, especially early reading skills in lower-grade elementary school students. Early reading is a fundamental skill that must be mastered by first-grade students as a basis for subsequent learning. This study aims to determine the effect of using alphabet animated video learning media on improving early reading skills of first-grade elementary school students. This study employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a One Group Pre-test Post-test design. The research subjects consisted of one group of students who were given a pre-test before the treatment and a post-test after the implementation of the alphabet animated video media. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed that the average pre-test score of students was 77.17, which increased to 90.86 in the post-test, with an increase of 13.69 points. The statistical test results showed a t-value of –4.473 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. The conclusion of this study indicates that the use of alphabet animated video media has a significant effect on improving early reading skills of first-grade elementary school students and is also able to increase students’ motivation and activeness in the learning process. The suggestions are directed to teachers to utilize alphabet animated video media as an alternative learning medium for early reading instruction, schools are expected to support the provision of technology-based facilities, and future researchers are encouraged to develop similar studies with more varied subjects and learning media

Abstract

Inclusive education at the early childhood education (PAUD) level requires an accurate and equitable diagnosis of learning needs as the basis for implementing learning. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design and was analyzed using the SWOT approach. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies of inclusive PAUD principals and teachers. The results showed that the implementation of learning needs diagnosis has been carried out through observation and collaboration with parents, but has not been running optimally due to limited supporting facilities. On the other hand, government policy support and increased public awareness provide opportunities to strengthen the practice of learning needs diagnosis. This study concludes that strengthening teacher competency, developing adaptive diagnostic instruments, and multi-stakeholder collaboration can realize equitable and equitable inclusive education.

Abstract

Reading is a fundamental skill that is crucial for elementary school students, especially in the early grades. However, many first-grade students experience reading difficulties, such as difficulty recognizing letters, spelling, pronouncing words, and understanding the content of the reading. These difficulties can impact the overall learning process and outcomes. Therefore, the role of teachers is crucial in implementing appropriate learning strategies to help students overcome reading difficulties. This study aims to determine teachers' strategies for overcoming reading difficulties in first-grade students at SD Negeri 25 Banda Aceh. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects were first-grade teachers, while the objects of the study were the strategies used by teachers to overcome students' reading difficulties. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that teachers implemented several strategies to overcome reading difficulties, including the use of learning-based games such as letter cards, the use of visual media in the form of picture books and vocabulary books, providing positive feedback in the form of praise and motivation, and collaboration with parents to support students' reading activities at home. These strategies were considered quite helpful in gradually improving students' reading abilities, although special assistance is still needed for students who experience certain difficulties. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of appropriate and varied learning strategies by teachers plays a very important role in helping to overcome reading difficulties in first grade students.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low competence of fifth-grade students in writing procedural texts in a coherent and systematic manner, and in accordance with linguistic rules. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC) learning model on improving the procedural text writing competence of fifth-grade elementary school students. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research population consisted of 48 students, and all of them were selected as the sample using the saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a procedural text writing test and an observation sheet to assess the implementation of the learning process. Data analysis was carried out through prerequisite tests, including tests of normality, homogeneity, and linearity, followed by a simple linear regression test to examine the research hypothesis. The results of the analysis indicated that the Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC) model had a significant effect on improving the procedural text writing competence of fifth-grade elementary school students. Therefore, the RADEC model served as an effective alternative learning strategy for developing writing skills at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to develop image media as a tool for Christian religious education that can be applied to early childhood education activities. This study uses a research and development (R&D) method by implementing ADDIE which is limited to three stages due to time and material limitations. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire that is evaluated by media experts, linguists, and early childhood experts. Aspects of assessment by linguists include the suitability of the language to the child's age, clarity of language, readability and fluency, as well as the appropriateness of spelling and punctuation. The assessment results showed an average feasibility with a percentage reaching 93.25% and the category "very feasible". Then the assessment aspects by media experts include visual appeal, clarity and simplicity, relevance and representation and increasing understanding. The assessment results showed an average feasibility with a percentage reaching 100% and the category "very feasible". Meanwhile, the assessment aspects by early childhood experts included content and language, visuals and appearance as well as readability and fluency. The assessment results showed an average feasibility with a percentage reaching 93% and the category "very feasible". Product validation identified that image media is very suitable for use as a tool in religious counseling activities for early childhood. This study provides an important contribution in the development of media that is appropriate to the needs and characteristics of early childhood, as well as providing strong recommendations for the implementation of image media for early childhood in PAUD KB ANANDA.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive educational application-based learning media containing Acehnese traditional motifs and to determine its validity and practicality in cultural arts learning for third-grade elementary school students. This research employed a research and development method consisting of needs analysis, media design, product development, and limited trials. The research subjects involved material experts, media experts, third-grade teachers, and students of SD Negeri 57 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the developed learning media was categorized as highly valid and highly practical. The media effectively assists students in recognizing Acehnese traditional motifs in an engaging and understandable way, thereby increasing students’ interest and participation in learning activities

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using place value boards on the ability of third-grade students to recognize place value at SD Negeri 25, Banda Aceh City. Place value is a basic concept in mathematics that is very important as a foundation for understanding arithmetic operations.However, many students still experience difficulties because learning is often delivered abstractly and lacks concrete media support. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects were third-grade students who were first given a pretest, then received treatment through learning using a place value board, and finally, a posttest. The instruments used included tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The analysis results showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes after the implementation of the place value board. Furthermore, student activity and engagement in the learning process also increased. Students found it easier to understand the position and value of a number and were more enthusiastic in participating in learning activities. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the place value board has a positive influence on the ability to recognize place value in grade III students. This media can be used as an alternative learning medium for mathematics in elementary schools to make learning more concrete, interesting, and meaningful

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Natural and Social Science (IPAS) subject, particularly in the plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh. This was caused by the dominance of lecture-based teaching methods and the minimal use of engaging and interactive learning media, which led students to be passive and less actively involved in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the effect of using Pop Up Book media on student learning outcomes in IPAS plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 58 students divided into Grade IV A as the experimental class (29 students) and Grade IV B as the control class (29 students). Data were collected through written tests in the form of pretest and posttest. Data analysis used the Independent Samples T-Test after the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 85.97, while the control class was 62.76. The Independent Samples T-Test showed a t-value of 9.585 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, so the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using Pop Up Book media on student learning outcomes in IPAS plant body parts material in Grade IV SDN 14 Banda Aceh.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' speaking skills in Indonesian language subjects through the application of the Role Playing method on the "Interview" material. This study was conducted in class IVd SDN 24 Banda Aceh. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques in this study used a speaking skills test in the form of performance assessment with an assessment rubric, observation of learning activities and documentation of learning activities. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the average value of students' speaking skills increased from Cycle I to Cycle II. In Cycle I, the average value of students' speaking skills was 72.36 with a completion percentage of 57.57%. In Cycle II, the average value increased to 80.63% with a completion percentage of 87.87%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of the Role Playing method can improve students' speaking skills in Indonesian language subjects in class IV SDN 24 Banda Aceh.
