Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of language in a legal context through a forensic linguistics approach to statements made by Teddy Minahasa in the narcotics case that ensnared him. This study focuses on semantic analysis using a contextual semantic approach referring to Contextual Semantics Theory, an approach that understands the meaning of utterances based on the context of the situation, the relationship between speakers, and the background of the speech event. The research data was obtained from various accountable sources, including WhatsApp conversation transcripts found on witness Linda Pujiastuti's cell phone that were spread in online media coverage, as well as video recordings of interviews and trials related to the case. The data were analyzed to identify the meaning of utterances, word choice, and the context of language use in communication related to the legal case. The results of the study indicate that the meaning of utterances in the analyzed statements is influenced by the communication context and the underlying legal situation. This finding confirms that a contextual semantic approach in forensic linguistics is important to use to understand the meaning of language more comprehensively so that it can support a more objective interpretation of language evidence in a criminal case.

Abstract

Children in conflict with the law (ABH) represent a complex social phenomenon requiring holistic rehabilitation interventions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a preventive-based guidance and counseling program in reducing adolescent problems among ABH at UPT Perlindungan dan Rehabilitasi Sosial Marsudi Putra (PRSMP) Surabaya. A quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test post-test approach was employed, involving 30 male participants aged 15–17 years. Data were collected using an Adolescent Problem Scale consisting of 21 items covering five dimensions: aggressive behavior and juvenile delinquency, self-understanding and self-control, social and family relationships, psychological conditions, and life motivation and goals. Data analysis used the Paired Sample T-Test after normality was confirmed through the Shapiro-Wilk test. Results showed a significant decrease in mean scores from pre-test (M = 63.90, SD = 5.641) to post-test (M = 39.77, SD = 4.477), with t(29) = 93.901, p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The most notable reduction was in the aggressive behavior dimension (Δ = 6.36), while self-understanding, social relationships, and life motivation showed positive improvements. These findings confirm that a structured, preventive-based guidance and counseling program is statistically effective in reducing adolescent problems among ABH and contributes to the development of evidence-based social rehabilitation interventions in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in formative assessment to enhance personalized learning in Grade XI mathematics at MA Nurul Ali Secang Magelang. The research addresses the limited effectiveness of conventional formative assessment, which often delays feedback and does not accommodate individual learning differences. The objective of this study was to determine whether AI-based formative assessment significantly improves students’ learning outcomes and supports adaptive learning processes. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was employed, involving two classes: an experimental group using AI-supported formative assessment and a control group applying conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test instruments, questionnaires on personalized learning, and classroom observations. Statistical analysis using independent sample t-tests and normalized gain (N-Gain) scores indicated that the experimental group achieved significantly higher post-test results and moderate-to-high learning gains compared to the control group. The findings also revealed increased student engagement and more precise feedback mechanisms in the AI-supported classroom. The study concludes that integrating Artificial Intelligence into formative assessment effectively strengthens personalized learning and improves mathematics achievement, while repositioning teachers as data-informed facilitators in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Reading Clinic Program assisted by illustrated stories in improving the reading comprehension skills of third-grade elementary school students. The study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design, specifically the One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The research sample consisted of all students of class IIIA at SDN 087/IV Kota Jambi, totaling 20 students. The data collection technique used a multiple-choice reading comprehension test that had undergone validity and reliability testing. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain test with the assistance of SPSS version 20 software. The results showed that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed, with a pretest significance value of 0.839 and a posttest significance value of 0.384 (p > 0.05). The paired sample t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that there was a significant difference in students’ reading comprehension skills before and after participating in the Reading Clinic Program assisted by illustrated stories. The N-Gain test result obtained an average score of 0.64, which falls into the moderate category, indicating an improvement in students’ reading comprehension skills after the treatment was given. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Reading Clinic Program assisted by illustrated stories is sufficiently effective in improving the reading comprehension skills of third-grade elementary school students. This program can serve as an alternative instructional strategy to help enhance students’ reading comprehension skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

Traditional music represents an essential component of regional cultural heritage that embodies historical, social, and aesthetic values. However, the rapid advancement of globalization and the dominance of popular culture have contributed to the declining interest of younger generations in traditional music. This article aims to describe community service activities designed to revitalize Palembang traditional music through community-based workshops conducted at the Palembang Arts Council (Dewan Kesenian Palembang/DKP). This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using direct observation, documentation, and literature review. The activities were implemented during the DKP Arts Week and consisted of traditional music workshops, practical instrument-based learning, adaptive performances of traditional songs, and collaborative art presentations. The findings indicate that the workshops enhanced participants’ understanding, appreciation, and engagement with traditional music, strengthened community participation, and supported the regeneration of young traditional musicians. Therefore, community-based workshops serve as an effective strategy for revitalizing traditional music and strengthening local cultural identity in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the important role of parents as religious role models in improving children's Qur'an reading skills, considering the ongoing gap between learning activities at the Al-Qur'an Education Center (TPQ) and daily practice at home. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the forms of parental religious modeling applied to improve children's Qur'an reading habits and to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence their implementation in the family context. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Participants consisted of seven parents, seven children, and four Quran teachers at TPQ Baiturrahman Rimbo Ulu Tebo, who were selected through sampling aimed at obtaining in-depth information (Data Rich) Ensuring relevance to the research focus. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The research findings revealed that the role of parents in providing religious role models to improve children's Quran reading ability consists of three main forms: exemplary Quran reading practices by parents, regular Quran reading habits at home, especially after Maghrib prayers, and active parental guidance and supervision during children's study sessions. Supporting factors include strong parental motivation, consistency in daily religious practices, and effective collaboration with TPQ teachers. Conversely, inhibiting factors include excessive use of digital media, limited time and parental inconsistency, children's low learning motivation, and an unconducive social environment

Abstract

The long period of Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia significantly influenced the formation of the nation’s socio-economic structure, creating patterns of dependency and inequality that continued to shape society. This historical reality underlies the importance of examining the impact of Dutch colonialism on the socio-economic life of Indonesian society. The purpose of this study is to analyze how colonial economic and social policies transformed indigenous economic systems and social structures. This research employs a library research approach by reviewing relevant books, scientific journals, and historical documents. The findings indicate that Dutch colonial policies, including trade monopolies, forced labor, agrarian regulations, and export-oriented economic systems, shifted traditional subsistence patterns into a colonial economy serving European market interests. These policies resulted in structural poverty, economic dependency, and sharp social stratification dividing society into Europeans, Foreign Orientals, and indigenous groups. Although colonial modernization introduced infrastructure development, it did not improve indigenous welfare. Instead, prolonged socio-economic pressures fostered collective awareness and resistance movements that later contributed to the emergence of national consciousness. Therefore, Dutch colonialism produced systemic socio-economic transformations while simultaneously shaping the foundation of Indonesia’s national awakening.
