Abstract

Background: The transformation of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia reflects broader efforts to adapt religious learning to modern sociocultural dynamics. In this context, Darud Da’wah wal-Irsyad (DDI) stands as a significant example of how pesantren-based organizations evolve to address both educational and social challenges in local communities. Purpose: This study examines the institutional transformation of Darud Da’wah wal-Irsyad (DDI) and its contribution to strengthening Islamic education and social values in the Ajatappareng region of South Sulawesi. Method: Using a qualitative approach through historical analysis and institutional document study, the research highlights how DDI has expanded its role from traditional Islamic schooling into a comprehensive system covering all levels of education, from early childhood to higher education. Result: The findings demonstrate that DDI integrates religious and general curricula, promotes character education, and nurtures Islamic scholars and intellectuals active at regional, national, and international levels. Conclusion These contributions illustrate the adaptive capacity of Islamic education in responding to sociocultural changes and community needs, while reinforcing its socio-religious role in a diverse society.

Abstract

Background: Turnover intentions among Generation Z employees are a problem in human resource management, particularly in Islamic educational institutions. Despite upholding spiritual and ethical values, these institutions often face challenges in their implementation, such as destructive leadership and a hostile work environment. This complexity is compounded by Gen Z's sensitivity to psychological stress. Objective: This study analyzes the influence of destructive leadership and a conducive work environment on turnover intention among Gen Z employees in Islamic educational institutions, with self-affirmation as a mediator. Methods: A quantitative survey was conducted with 125 Generation Z employees working in Islamic educational institutions in Makassar. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results: Destructive leadership decreased self-affirmation, thus increasing turnover intention. However, a conducive environment increased self-affirmation but had no direct effect on turnover intention. Self-affirmation significantly mediated both relationships. Conclusion: Gen Z employees in Islamic educational institutions tend to have intentions to leave if they experience toxic leadership and an unsupportive work environment. However, strong self affirmation can mitigate these negative influences. These findings have implications for human resource management in Islamic educational institutions to provide a supportive work environment, especially for the younger generation who are more sensitive to psychological issues.

Abstract

Background: The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed the landscape of education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI), where traditional learning approaches are increasingly shifting toward digital platforms. However, the effectiveness of this transformation depends not only on the availability of technology but also on the ability of teachers and students to optimize its use for active and meaningful learning. Purpose: This study explores the revitalization of digital media in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) by examining the influence of technological literacy, teacher social presence, and student motivation on active participation in the digital learning environment. In the midst of the growing integration of technology in education, ensuring student engagement in PAI through effective media becomes increasingly essential. Method: A quantitative approach with a survey method was used, involving students from several Islamic schools who utilize digital platforms for learning. The data were analyzed using multiple regression to identify the contribution of each independent variable. Result: The findings reveal that technological literacy, teacher social presence, and student motivation significantly influence student participation. Among these, teacher social presence emerged as the strongest predictor. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the importance of pedagogical strategies that combine technological competence, emotional connection, and motivational support to foster meaningful student involvement in digital PAI learning.

Abstract

Background: This study explores the living philosophy, cultural significance, and resilience of the tumpeng tradition as part of Javanese cultural identity in the context of modernization and globalization. Framed within the broader discourse of cultural heritage, the research highlights how tumpeng is more than a ceremonial dish; it symbolizes local wisdom and civic values through its conical shape, color, and carefully selected side dishes that together reflect gratitude, balance, humility, and spiritual devotion. Purpose: The study aims to examine how these meanings are transmitted across generations and the challenges posed by changing lifestyles, urbanization, and the rise of global consumer culture. Method: Using a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in literature review and cultural analysis, the article finds that the practice of preparing and sharing tumpeng functions as an intergenerational educational process that sustains communal bonds and ethical reflections, keeping cultural memory alive as an ongoing practice rather than a fixed inheritance. Result: However, the continuity of this tradition is threatened when younger generations perceive it as outdated or when rituals are performed without understanding their deeper philosophical context. Conclusion: The study concludes by suggesting adaptive strategies such as integrating cultural education in formal and informal contexts, promoting storytelling and community workshops, and using the creative economy to engage youth while maintaining authenticity. Ultimately, the findings reaffirm that tumpeng endures as a living cultural practice that not only preserves local wisdom but also offers ethical guidance for navigating modern life.

Abstract

Bacground: Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is crucial for fostering students’ character and understanding of Islamic teachings, yet inheritance law remains challenging due to its abstract principles and complex calculations. This study developed a PAI module based on Kitab Asasul Faraid to enhance learning outcomes for senior high school students. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate), the module was validated by two experts in Islamic studies and tested with 34 Grade XII students at SMAN 2 Kota Kediri. Results showed strong validity (92–96%), positive student feedback (76% rated it highly effective), and significant improvement in pre- and post-test scores (78 to 82; t = 14.3, p < 0.05). The module effectively improved students’ comprehension of inheritance law by integrating classical Islamic texts into accessible learning resources. It is recommended for broader adoption in high schools and adaptation for digital platforms to enhance accessibility. Conclusion: The main contribution of this research is to provide a learning model that can be used as a strategic alternative in the design of research curriculum in Islamic higher education, which is responsive to the needs of students and the challenges of the contemporary era.
