Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of holistic education through bil hikmah communication in building the character of the younger generation in this context, namely students, based on thematic studies of the Qur'an, especially Q.S. Luqman verses 12-19. The era of disruption brings new challenges in character building, so a relevant and holistic approach based on Islamic values is needed. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and literature method with content analysis techniques to examine the values of bil hikmah communication contained in the Qur'an and Hadith. The results show that the main values such as tawhid, responsibility, emotional intelligence, patience, tolerance, love of peace, as well as communication ethics, are important elements in holistic education. The integration of these values supports character education that is more adaptive, spiritual, and relevant to the challenges of the digital era, both in formal and non-formal education environments. This research is expected to be a guide for educators and parents in shaping a noble generation through the bil hikmah communication approach sourced from the Qur'an and Hadith

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are central to Indonesia's Islamic education system. However, in recent decades, many pesantren have faced significant challenges, ultimately leading to their closure. This study aims to identify the key factors contributing to this phenomenon, focusing on leadership, management, financial constraints, and socio-cultural changes. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing case studies of several pesantren in Central Java that have ceased operations. Data were collected through interviews with pesantren administrators, Kiai descendants, alumni, and local community members. Additionally, participatory observation and document analysis were conducted to gain a comprehensive understanding of the conditions preceding the closure of these institutions. The findings indicate that the lack of leadership regeneration is one of the primary factors causing institutional instability in pesantren. Many pesantren remain overly dependent on the Kiai figure without a precise succession mechanism, challenging leadership transitions. Furthermore, unprofessional management practices, such as the absence of transparent financial record-keeping and data-driven decision-making, have exacerbated the decline of these institutions. Financial constraints also pose a serious challenge, as most pesantren rely heavily on unstable community donations without implementing a diversified funding strategy. Socio-cultural factors, including shifts in societal preferences toward formal education based on science and technology and urbanization, have further diminished parental interest in enrolling their children in pesantren. This study provides valuable insights for stakeholders in Islamic education, particularly in designing policies that support pesantren sustainability. Reforming leadership systems, implementing modern management practices, diversifying funding sources, and integrating modern skill-based curricula are strategic steps that must be taken to ensure that pesantren remain relevant and sustainable in the era of globalization.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the cadre education model of Islamic preachers (da’i) in Wahdah Islamiyah from the perspective of Islamic education. In response to globalization and the erosion of Islamic values, Wahdah Islamiyah has developed a structured da’i training system through both formal education (STIBA Makassar) and non-formal approaches (halaqah tarbiyah, Tadribud Du‘at, Da’i and Khatib Training, and scholarship programs to the Middle East). A qualitative case study method was used, involving interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that Wahdah Islamiyah's model integrates spiritual, intellectual, and physical dimensions while emphasizing the development of da’i character through the “5M” values: mu’min (faithful), mushlih (reformer), mujahid (struggler), muta’awin (collaborator), and mutqin (professional). This model reflects an integrative Islamic education framework rooted in the concepts of tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib. Despite its structural and value-based strengths, future challenges include digital dakwah adaptation and equitable cadre distribution.

Abstract

Abstract This article thoroughly analyzes the relevance of honesty in QS. At-Taubah as a core character trait in digital age education. Driven by contemporary moral challenges such as disinformation and technology misuse, this descriptive-analytical qualitative study employs a comprehensive literature review, drawing upon classical and contemporary tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis), alongside hadith. Findings indicate that QS. At-Taubah: 119 provides significant moral guidance on honesty, essential for cultivating responsible and integrated student character in both physical and digital realms. Practical implementation of this honesty can be achieved through innovative pedagogical approaches, including digital project-based learning, ethical digital case study simulations, and the integration of integrity values into general curricula. This approach is substantiated by various studies demonstrating that educators' integration of values effectively counters moral decadence, underscoring the critical need for regular teacher training to facilitate this across all subjects. Furthermore, narrative-based approaches and the concept of ‘amanah’ (trust/responsibility), exemplified by the story of Ka’ab bin Malik, prove effective methods for instilling honesty. In conclusion, Qur’anic value-based education, particularly emphasizing honesty, is crucial for shaping a generation that is ethical, responsible, and adaptable to the demands of the digital age, thereby ensuring moral integrity amidst technological advancements.

Abstract

This study explores the pedagogical integration of English for Da’wah (EFD) in an Islamic boarding school (pesantren) in West Java, Indonesia. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through document analysis, interviews, focus group discussions, and classroom observations. Findings indicate that EFD is conceptualized as a tool to empower students in global Islamic communication, but its implementation is largely informal, lacking structured curriculum guidelines or teaching materials. While EFD enhances students’ motivation, public speaking skills, and religious identity, challenges such as lexical translation difficulties, limited teacher preparedness, and resource scarcity persist. The study implies the need for contextualized teacher training, collaborative curriculum development, and the creation of pedagogical materials that integrate language instruction with authentic da’wah content.

Abstract

Education needs to adapt to the times to remain relevant to the needs of students. One of the important components that must be considered is the teaching materials, including those in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This research aims to formulate a strategy for revitalizing Islamic Education (PAI) learning in the D phase through optimizing textbooks that are more comprehensive, integrative, and effective in achieving learning outcomes (CP). Using a qualitative approach based on content analysis and literature review, this study identifies inconsistencies between the CP in the Kepka BSKAP and the Learning Objectives (TP) listed in the textbook. For example, the material on rukhsah only reflects the views of one specific school of thought, whereas CP aimsfor a broader understanding of the four major schools of thought. This finding confirms the need for developing more holistic materials to reflect the flexibility of Islamic law. Additionally, the learning models in the textbook are relevant to the psychological characteristics of 12–15-year-old students based on Piaget's theory of development. This research provides contributions in the form of strategic recommendations, including expanding the scope of teaching materials, integrating intersectional perspectives, and strengthening the connection with students' real-life experiences. The limitation of this research lies in the scope of the location and the limited sample size. Therefore, further research with a more comprehensive approach is needed to support the implementation of more effective and transformative fiqh learning
