Abstract

The state of students who are bored and stressed is included in an unstable psychological condition. This psychological condition can affect the success of the learning process. One of the techniques that can be used by guidance and counseling teachers related to academic stress problems is the mandala expressive art therapy technique. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of mandala expressive art therapy techniques in group counseling to reduce the academic stress of junior high school students. This study used a one-group pre-test and post-test design, adapted from the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) scale. The subjects of this study were six second-grade students of SMP Negeri 26 Surabaya. The data analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Based on the results of the output test statistics, it can be seen that the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value is 0.027, which is smaller than 0.05. So Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected, which means that the mandala expressive art therapy technique in group counseling effectively reduces the academic stress of junior high school students. This research contributes as a reference for guidance and counseling teachers in designing art-based intervention programs to help students who experience academic stress.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of online gaming intensity, specifically Mobile Legends, on the learning motivation of junior high school students in Lamno, Aceh Jaya Regency. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with an ex post facto design, involving 133 students from three junior high schools selected using total sampling. The instruments used were an online gaming intensity scale and a learning motivation scale, with data analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that 53% of students fell into the moderate category for online gaming intensity. Meanwhile, 74% of students had high learning motivation. Regression analysis revealed that the influence of online gaming intensity on learning motivation was very small, accounting for only 1%. The conclusion indicates that the intensity of playing online games does not significantly affect students’ learning motivation. The implication of this study serves as a reference for educators, parents, and school counselors to understand better the impact of online gaming, specifically Mobile Legends, on students’ learning motivation and to develop balanced strategies for managing gaming habits and academic engagement.

Abstract

At the level of career planning at MTsN 2 Aceh Besar, some students still cannot determine career planning after graduating from MTsN and want to look for career information. As a result, it has an impact on the student's future. This research aims to know how the spinning wheel media improves students' career planning abilities at MTsN 2 Aceh Besar. This quantitative research method uses a pre-experimental approach with a group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 32 students from 211 populations using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection technique uses a Likert scale to measure students' level of career planning. The questionnaire was distributed to class IX students at MTsN 2 Aceh Besar. The research results show that the t count of 51.414 is greater than the t table of 1.695 (51.414>1.695). This means there is an increase in students' career planning, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The research contributes as reference material for further research on the application of spinning wheel media to improve students' career planning. Also, it serves as a guide for students in determining career planning when choosing secondary schools and career descriptions in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of solution-oriented brief counseling on increasing internal locus of control in students who experience academic procrastination. The research subjects are students with low internal locus of control criteria and high academic procrastination, which will be used as experimental objects. The method used is an experiment with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design. The instrument used is a questionnaire on locus of control and academic procrastination made through Google Forms. Visual analysis compared observation results in three conditions: Baseline A1 (before intervention). Baseline B (Intervention), Baseline A2 (After Intervention). All three results showed an increase in the frequency of internal locus of control in students who experienced academic procrastination from low to high. Interventions using solution-focused brief counseling proved effective. Schools can use this counseling as a preventive effort to improve internal locus of control in students who experience academic procrastination. The contribution of the results of this study as a foundation in developing or modifying brief counseling models to focus on aspects of internal locus of control as a key in increasing student responsibility for student academic tasks.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of growth mindset training in improving psychological well-being. The research utilized a quasi-experimental approach with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design involving experimental and control groups. The sample consisted of students with low levels of psychological well-being. The analysis results indicated that the independent t-test showed a significance value (Sig(2-tailed)) of 0.000, which is statistically significant, indicating the effectiveness of the intervention. A difference was found in the psychological well-being post-test scores between the control group (M=86.82, SD=9.71) and the experimental group (M=97.47, SD=8.89). Additionally, an improvement was observed in the experimental group's scores from the pre-test (M=85, SD=11) to the post-test (M=97.5, SD=9). The study concluded that growth mindset training effectively enhances students' psychological well-being. This training encourages students to believe in change, fosters perseverance and resilience in facing challenges or problems, and serves as a factor in discovering life's meaning. The study contributes to the scientific literature on the effectiveness of growth mindset training in improving students' psychological well-being. It provides empirical evidence that a growth mindset can be a strategic approach to supporting student's mental and emotional development.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the effect of self-esteem on narcissistic behavior. The research method used is a survey method with a quantitative approach. The sample of this study consisted of 216 respondents, who were grade XI students at SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya, who were selected through a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through observation and questionnaire distribution techniques. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression. The results showed that the F count was 5.674 or sig 0.018 (p<0.05), then self-esteem significantly positively influences narcissistic behavior. The research conclusion reveals that the influence of self-esteem is smaller than the influence of other external factors, which can be a clue that external factors have a greater role in influencing students than their sense of self-worth. This research contributes as a reference for schools, especially guidance and counseling (BK) teachers, in developing programs to strengthen healthy self-esteem in students. This aims to prevent excessive narcissistic behavior and encourage the development of a balanced personality.
