Abstract

Post-disaster urbanization in Palu City, triggered by the earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction in 2018, has significantly impacted the social structure of the community. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of urbanization and its effects on changes in social class, family patterns, and social solidarity in Palu City, using Auguste Comte's positivistic perspective. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed in this research, with data collected through interviews, field observations, and documentation from primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that post-disaster urbanization has intensified social class disparities, triggered transformations in family and community structures, and led to a decline in social solidarity within urban environments. These results support Comte's view that society evolves towards a more modern and rational social structure after a disaster, with key roles played by social institutions such as the government and the economic sector. In conclusion, by objectively understanding these dynamics, more effective policies can be designed to manage urbanization processes and mitigate their negative impacts.

This study aims to explore the influence of the social environment on the attitude of primary school students in Medan City towards coastal conservation. Through a qualitative approach, this research identifies how interactions with family, friends, and community can shape students' views on the importance of coastal conservation. The results showed that a positive social environment can increase students' awareness and participation in conservation activities, while a less supportive environment can inhibit pro-environmental attitudes. The findings are expected to provide insights into developing more effective environmental education programs in primary schools.. Abstract

The goal of this study is to uncover the millennial generation's perception of ghuru tolang as well as the pattern of socio-cultural relations established by the Madurese millennial community. This research employs a qualitative-phenomenological approach, with data gathered through interviews, observation, and documentation. The information was analysed in three stages: reduction, display, and verification. According to the findings of this study, the figure and role of ghuru tolang are essentially the same in the eyes of the millennial generation, despite a slight shift. According to him, ghuru tolang is a religious educator and founder who must be respected and obeyed. Ghuru tolang, on the other hand, does not stand out from other teachers in their eyes.so there is no sacredness that must be overly addressed. Nevertheless, the millennial generation still positions ghuru tolang as a religious and social leader so that he is considered a cultural symbol that fully adheres to traditional religious values and has important meaning for the Madurese people. The social relations that are built between the ghuru tolang and the millennial generation are imbued with a strong spiritual aspect where there is a special relationship, namely a relationship that is imbued with the spirit of Nasyr al 'ilmi. The closeness of the relationship between the two is also based on a strong emotional closeness like the psychological relationship between parents and their children.

Abstract

This study explores the role of indigenous ecological narratives in shaping sustainable environmental practices through an ecosemiotic-cultural perspective. By employing a retro-prospective analysis, the research examines traditional ecological knowledge embedded in Indonesian literary texts, revealing how past wisdom informs contemporary and future environmental consciousness. The primary data for this research comprises three contemporary Indonesian novels that encapsulate indigenous ecological wisdom and human-nature relationships: Mata dan Manusia Laut (2019) by Okky Madasari, Tanjung Kemarau (2020) by Royyan Julian, Sanggarguri (2021) by Lalu Agus Fathurrahman. The findings demonstrate that indigenous narratives function as semiotic systems that encode ecological values, communal responsibility, and harmonious relationships with nature. Through cultural symbols, myths, and folklore, these narratives offer sustainable models of environmental stewardship rooted in collective memory and local traditions. The study also highlights the potential of integrating these narratives into modern sustainability policies and education, ensuring their relevance in addressing contemporary ecological challenges. By bridging historical ecological wisdom with future sustainability efforts, this research contributes to the broader discourse on ecosemiotics and sustainable development. The implications of this study underscore the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in preserving cultural heritage while fostering environmental resilience.

Abstract

The learning method is an essential component of the learning process. An engaging and interactive learning experience is crucial as it can enhance students' motivation. Monotonous and less varied teaching methods often become an issue, leading to boredom and a lack of enthusiasm among students. Therefore, this study aims to implement the discovery model with the Make a Match method and determine whether this method can improve the learning motivation of Class VIII A students at SMP Negeri 1 Pamekasan. This research employs classroom action research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 31 students from Class VIII A at SMP Negeri 1 Pamekasan. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis was performed using observations, questionnaire results, and triangulation techniques. The results show an increase in students' learning motivation, as observed from the first and second cycles. In Cycle I, the average percentage of learning motivation reached 57.25% (Moderate category), and in Cycle II, it increased to 67.48% (High category). This indicates that the discovery model with the Make a Match method can enhance students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of integration between environmental issues and Islamic values in social studies (IPS) learning. Teachers often rely solely on textbooks and do not utilize environmental or religious-based school programs, resulting in convoluted material and low student awareness of environmental issues. This research aims to explore the internalization of Islamic values in environment-based IPS learning, the learning process itself, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in class VIII A at SMP Negeri 1 Plered. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and document studies involving the principal, IPS and Islamic studies teachers, and students. The results show that the internalization of Islamic values has been implemented through environmental and religious programs, with the environment used as a learning medium. Supporting factors include school programs, while inhibiting factors involve low awareness among teachers and students to apply these values in daily life.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the use of Google Lens in translating Arabic for students of the Foreign Language Development Program (FLDP) at IAIN Madura. This study focuses on three main aspects: effectiveness, efficiency, and translation accuracy using Google Lens. The research uses a descriptive approach, with data collected through questionnaires given to students and direct observation of the use of the application. The results indicate that the use of Google Lens is effective in helping students understand Arabic and efficient in terms of time and resources used. Although the translation accuracy does not reach 100%, students are still able to comprehend the meaning of the translated text. Therefore, Google Lens can be a useful tool in supporting Arabic language learning at IAIN Madura, although there is still room for improvement in terms of translation accuracy. This study contributes to the development of technology in foreign language education, particularly in the context of Arabic language teaching at higher education institutions.

However, there is a lack of research on how to solve prostitution impact in society life. This study aims to analysis the Penta helix model as a strategic approach to tackling prostitution and to identify the key of social institutions that play a significant role in resolving the issue. The research used a quantitative methodology with a percentage technique and involves 60 citizens as the sample localized citizen around former Mbaben or Madusari localization. The instrument in this study is a specially designed closed-ended questionnaire to evaluate sample views toward the Penta helix model in solving prostitution strategy by binary Likert scale. The findings show that the Government Sector received the highest level of agreement, the Business Sector ranked second, the Community Sector followed the third, the Mass Media Sector had the fourth, and the last is the Academia Sector. These results indicate that each sector can contribute effectively to a multi-sectoral approach in addressing prostitution, ensuring a more comprehensive and sustainable solution to this complex social issue.
