Abstract

Academic resilience is an essential component in helping vocational students overcome academic setbacks, challenges, difficulties, and pressure. However, many vocational students exhibit low levels of academic resilience, particularly in maritime and technical fields. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of game-based techniques in group counseling for improving academic resilience among vocational high school students. A quantitative method with a pseudo-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 10 vocational students identified with moderate and low academic resilience based on the pre-test using the Academic Resilience Scale (11 valid and reliable items, scoring 1-4). The intervention comprised group counseling sessions integrating cooperative movement cup games across two stages. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in the mean academic resilience score from 2.81 (pre-test) to 3.05 (post-test). The paired-samples t-test revealed t = -2.390 (p < 0.05), and Cohen's d was 0.96 (large effect). The Shapiro-Wilk test confirmed normal data distribution (p > 0.05). The findings indicate that group counseling using game-based techniques significantly improves academic resilience by enabling students to face challenges, adapt to rules, and collaborate in a supportive environment. In conclusion, game-based group counseling is an effective strategy for school counselors to enhance academic resilience among vocational students. Further research across different educational levels is recommended. Keywords: academic resilience, group counselling, game techniques, vocational high school

Abstract

This study examines the role of teacher self-efficacy as a mediator between social support and occupational well-being among teachers in Islamic private elementary schools, within the framework of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed, involving 221 teachers from nine districts in East Java Province, Indonesia. Data were collected using validated scales for occupational well-being, social support, and teacher self-efficacy, and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results confirm that social support significantly influences teachers' occupational well-being, but only through the full mediation of teacher self-efficacy (p < 0.05). The direct effect of social support on well-being was not significant. Furthermore, demographic factors—including age, gender, income, educational background, and certification status—did not show significant moderating effects on either self-efficacy or occupational well-being (p > 0.05). These findings underscore that self-efficacy is a critical internal mechanism translating external support into improved well-being, regardless of demographic differences. The study contributes to the JD-R Model and Self-Determination Theory by extending their application to faith-based educational settings. Practically, enhancing teacher self-efficacy through targeted training and supportive policies is essential for improving teacher welfare, which in turn supports the achievement of SDG 3 at the institutional and community levels. Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of role-modeling-based group guidance in shaping the careers of Guidance and counseling students through socio-cultural narratives and social presence, within the framework of Career Construction Theory (Savickas). A quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was applied to data from 500 students across several universities. The measurement model demonstrated strong reliability and validity (factor loadings > 0.70; AVE > 0.50; CR > 0.70). Structurally, role modeling significantly influenced socio-cultural narratives (β = 0.68, p < 0.001) and social presence (β = 0.59, p < 0.001). Furthermore, socio-cultural narratives (β = 0.42, p < 0.01) and social presence (β = 0.37, p < 0.01) positively predicted career construction, which, in turn, substantially affected the overall effectiveness of group guidance (β = 0.74, p < 0.001). The model explained 63% of the variance in career construction and 55% of the variance in group guidance effectiveness. These findings confirm the importance of socio-cultural and interactional dimensions in enhancing students’ career adaptability and offer practical implications for counselors to design culturally responsive, socially engaging guidance programs that foster career development. Abstract

This study addresses the limited availability of psychometrically validated instruments to measure academic resilience among Indonesian university students. The research aimed to develop and validate an Academic Resilience Scale using the Rasch model, which was chosen for its ability to provide linear and invariant measurement beyond Classical Test Theory. A total of 606 students from various universities participated. The 26-item scale was evaluated by experts and analyzed with Winsteps software. The findings demonstrated strong psychometric properties, with person reliability of 0.87, item reliability of 0.91, and Cronbach's alpha of 0.89, indicating high internal consistency. All items met validity criteria based on infit-outfit statistics (0.5 < MNSQ < 1.5). Unidimensionality was confirmed with 38.2% of raw variance explained by measures, exceeding the minimum threshold of 20%. Differential Item Functioning analysis revealed no gender bias across all items (p > 0.05). The Academic Resilience Scale exhibits robust psychometric characteristics and is a valid, reliable instrument for measuring academic resilience among Indonesian university students. The scale has practical implications for academic counseling, intervention design, and cross-cultural research in higher education settings. Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between knowledge-sharing behavior and job satisfaction among Indonesian civil servants, with hierarchical organizational culture as a moderator. Set within Indonesia’s context of bureaucratic reform, this research highlights how structural and cultural changes shape public sector performance. While knowledge sharing is linked to innovation and well-being, inconsistent findings suggest that contextual factors, especially hierarchy, influence its effect on satisfaction. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, 203 civil servants from various institutions with at least two years of experience participated. Data from an online survey were analyzed using Pearson correlation and moderated regression (Hayes PROCESS Model 1). Results show that knowledge sharing positively predicts job satisfaction (b = .1691, p < .01), meaning exchanging knowledge enhances psychological fulfillment. However, hierarchical culture significantly and negatively moderates this relationship (b = –0.1161, p < .05), indicating that rigid, authority-driven environments reduce the benefits of knowledge exchange. Additionally, older and longer-tenured employees report higher satisfaction and alignment with hierarchical norms, while better-educated individuals show lower satisfaction and weaker cultural alignment. These findings emphasize the psychological role of knowledge sharing in public institutions and highlight the need for reforms promoting autonomy, open communication, and counseling-based support to improve employee well-being and performance within Indonesia’s bureaucracy. Abstract

Adolescent mental health is a critical concern in school guidance and counseling services; however, valid and reliable digital self-screening instruments remain limited in the Indonesian context. This study aimed to develop and validate a digital adolescent mental health scale, adapted from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales–21 (DASS-21), and to integrate it into the mentalkusehat.com platform. Instrument development followed Azwar’s eight-stage psychological scale-construction model and was tested with 150 senior high school students. Content validity showed excellent results, with Item-Level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) and Scale-Level Content Validity Index (S-CVI/Ave) values of 1.00. Construct validity was examined using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), supporting a three-factor model (stress, anxiety, and depression) with acceptable fit indices (CFI = 0.939; TLI = 0.930; RMSEA = 0.067). Internal consistency was high, with Cronbach’s alpha values exceeding 0.80 across subscales. Platform feasibility evaluation using the ACTIONS model yielded a score of 92.86%, categorized as highly feasible. These findings support the instrument’s usefulness for early detection and need assessment in school counseling services and contribute to the digitalization of adolescent mental health assessment in Indonesia. Abstract

Rapid transformations in the global labor market driven by digitalization, automation, and artificial intelligence require higher education graduates to possess adaptive employability skills that extend beyond technical competencies alone. However, conventional career guidance services in higher education have not yet been fully effective in developing these competencies holistically. This study aims to examine the implementation of Career Coaching 5.0 as an innovative career guidance model that integrates humanistic approaches with digital technology to enhance students’ employability skills. This research adopted a qualitative exploratory case study design conducted over six months at Universitas Islam Ahmad Dahlan, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving undergraduate students, academic advisors, and professional career coaches. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis through open, axial, and selective coding stages. The findings reveal four main themes: increased students’ career self-awareness, strengthened core soft skills, the transformation of coaches’ roles into reflective facilitators, and the integration of digital approaches through online learning platforms, digital career assessment applications, and virtual communication media, which enhanced service flexibility and accessibility. This study contributes by proposing and empirically examining a Career Coaching 5.0 strategic model that effectively develops students’ adaptive career competencies. These findings imply the need for higher education policies that support the development of coaching-based, human-centered, and digitally integrated career services. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the structural validity of the Indonesian version of the Student-Teacher Relationship Scale (STRS) using Rasch Model analysis. While STRS has been validated in several countries, validation in the Indonesian context with a large sample and using Rasch analysis remains limited. The data for this study involved 1,927 junior and senior high school students in Indonesia. The analysis technique used was the Rasch Model with Winsteps, assessing unidimensionality, local dependency, misfit items, and differential item functioning (DIF). The results indicate that STRS-ID demonstrates excellent reliability, with person reliability (0.96), item reliability (0.99), and a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.97. Unidimensionality was achieved with 57.7% of the raw variance explained. However, several misfit items were identified, with ZSTD values falling outside the range of -2.0 to +2.0, as well as DIF on some items by gender, age, and region. This study suggests that revisions are needed for problematic items to improve the measurement accuracy and effectiveness of STRS-ID in the Indonesian context. The contribution of this research lies in providing a psychometrically valid tool for measuring the student-teacher relationship in Indonesia and offering recommendations for refining items that do not meet the expected thresholds. Keywords: DIF, rasch model, relationship scale, reliability, unidimensionality, structural validity, student-teacher misfit items
