Abstract

The Etawa Dairy Goat Farming Program is one of the Economic Sector programs of UPZ BAZNAS PT Semen Padang by distributing a grant of 42 Etawa crossbred goats (ECG) to seven underprivileged Heads of Families (KK). UPZ BAZNAS PT Semen Padang chose dairy goats because they have high economic potential. Challenges in raising dairy goats include feed management, livestock health, and poor maintenance techniques. The dairy goat maintenance system in the community is traditional. Poor feed quality impacts production, reproduction, and livestock health. To make the dairy goat grant effective, assistance is needed to guide farmers on feed, health, and maintenance so that goat farming can benefit farmers and become a family business unit. The Faculty of Animal Science Service Team and students of the Animal Science Study Program at Universitas Andalas carry out community service activities from July to November 2024. The community service activities method includes surveys, counseling, and activity evaluation. After the community service activities, improvements were seen in feed management, and farmers became skilled at handling scabies in livestock. Based on the community service activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that farmers' knowledge about dairy goat maintenance management has increased. Farmers are skilled at treating scabies with traditional medicine because it is effective and more economical.

Abstract

This community service aims to increase the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Solok City through coaching 10 superior MSMEs under the auspices of the Solok City Tourism Office. The primary focus of this activity is on regional culinary products, namely Sobalari (Solok Bareh Lamak Onigiri) and Sopirang (Solok Pinyaram Pisang), which were developed by the Solok Belibis Creative (Sobiskraf) culinary team. Previously, they marketed the Sobalari and Sopirang products without calculating the even Point (BEP) and Margin of Safety (MOS), so MSMEs had difficulty determining the level of profit or loss. By socializing the concept of BEP and MOS calculations, this activity provided training and assistance to MSME players from the Sobiskraf culinary team. The results of practicing the BEP and MOS calculations show that there have been significant changes in determining the selling price of Sobalari and Sopirang products, which has positively impacted increasing MSME turnover. Implementing this more measurable financial strategy improves the welfare of MSMEs and contributes to increasing Solok City's Original Regional Income (ORI).

Abstract

The development of ecotourism in Kapalo Banda, Limau Manis, Padang, has potential to be expanded into agro-ecotourism through multi-stakeholder involvement. Key attractions include the scenic of river flows, agricultural cultivation, and stingless bee keeping, which support environmental sustainability and the local economy. With high vegetation diversity, the potential for stingless bee (galo-galo) breeding as a creative economic initiative offers new opportunities. This program aligns with the West Sumatra Provincial Government’s efforts to establish the area as a honey production center. However, challenges such as low colony production due to limited knowledge of farming techniques and the availability of flowering feed hinder its development. Through community engagement, empowerment activities were conducted from June to September 2024, including socialization, demonstrations, and training in bee farming techniques, supported by expert teams. Education focused on the potential of galo-galo and marketing strategies for local products. The results of this program indicate improved community skills and knowledge, supporting local economic sustainability and biodiversity conservation. Kapalo Banda partners have the potential to serve as a model for community empowerment based on natural resources, effectively enhancing community welfare. Multi-stakeholder involvement in developing Kapalo Banda Ecotourism has resulted in a series of activities ranging from cultivation preparation, colony propagation techniques, harvest preparation, to downstream processing and product marketing.

Abstract

This community service activity aligns with the Student KKN activities in Nagari Sitiung, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. The integrated community partnership program with student activities is carried out to increase corn production through technology transfer using wooden or bamboo hoes with semi-mechanical corn planting tools. The activity methodology is carried out by approaching corn farmers at the Nagari Sitiung partner location, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency, through data collection and counseling activities with a participatory approach. Furthermore, corn planting tools were introduced through training and demonstrations on the corn farmer's land in Nagari Sitiung. So far, many farmers have planted corn manually. This causes a relatively long planting process because the land is very large. The rolling planter corn planting tool provides various significant benefits for corn farmers because it can help increase the efficiency of time and energy in the planting process, thereby accelerating the production stage. This tool also reduces dependence on human labor, directly reducing operational costs. In addition, this corn planting tool can improve the accuracy of planting distances, which helps optimize land production and produces more uniform plants, and it has the potential to increase yields.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases whose prevalence is increasing in the community. Lifestyle factors, unhealthy diet, and lack of physical activity are the leading causes. Efforts to prevent hypertension can be made with a promotive and preventive approach, one of which is through the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA). The use of TOGA is increasingly favoured because its low side effects are more suitable for various metabolic and degenerative diseases. One area with a high incidence of hypertension is the Dadok Tunggul Hitam Community Health Centre in Padang. The high incidence of hypertension in the area is because patients suffering from hypertension who seek treatment at the health centre are not adherent to a diet and do not know the correct way of treatment. Thus, it is important to provide education about the treatment of hypertension by utilising Family Medicinal Plants in the community in the area. The implementation of the activity was carried out on 29 September 2024 by conducting a pretest first to determine the understanding of the community before being given the intervention, then continued with health checks, providing education, and handing over Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) seeds for hypertension patients and at the end of the session a posttest was conducted again. The results showed that community knowledge before education was 65% and 100% after education. This increased because the community was enthusiastic about participating in education. The health center should monitor and evaluate the results of this education regularly.

Abstract

Community services aim to build the competency of the financial statement analysis for the decision makers of BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera so that they can make better strategic decision making to develop BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera’s business. Most decision makers are non-accountants who should be able to analyze the financial statements. With this competency, they can evaluate BUMNag’s financial performance and formulate strategies to develop BUMNag’s business. The community services method covers Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Observation, and training. FGD is performed by inviting Wali Nagari, BAMUS, Wali Jorong, the management of BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera, and other key stakeholders. Observation is performed by reviewing the accounting systems developed by BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera. There are two stages of training: introduction to BUMNag financial statements, and analysis of BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera’s financial statements. The survey found that the training participants were highly satisfied and gained more insight and knowledge. Further, observation also found the weaknesses of accounting systems for financial reporting. BUMNag Anrila Sejahtera expected the expert assistance to develop better accounting information systems and other aspects, such as manufacturing the quality Madu Galo-Galo, and marketing the products.

Abstract

Cosmetics are products designed for use on the external parts of the human body to clean, alter appearance, provide fragrance, improve body odor, or maintain health. The cosmetic industry in Indonesia has experienced significant growth. Technology and beauty stereotypes disseminated through social media have influenced the increasing demand for cosmetics among teenagers. Research shows that 45.4% of teenagers in Indonesia use skincare products before the age of 19, and 46% experience skin health issues due to unsafe products. The Community Service Program aims to enhance teenagers' knowledge about safe cosmetics. This program was conducted through interactive lectures and a peel-off mask-making workshop at Santa Patricia High School in Tangerang, involving 72 students from 10th and 11th grades. Evaluation was performed through pretests and posttests, showing a 16% increase in participants' knowledge. A total of 82% of participants achieved good scores in the posttest. Additionally, 97% of participants understood the material presented, and 99% were satisfied with the overall event. This educational initiative successfully increased students' awareness and knowledge about the safety of cosmetic use, providing new insights into safe ingredients and steps for choosing appropriate cosmetics. Similar activities are encouraged to broaden teenagers' understanding of cosmetic safety.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood, where in adolescent girls it is marked by menstruation, breast enlargement, hips, and so on. As a result of these changes, adolescent girls are at risk of experiencing nutritional deficiencies in their bodies which can lead to anemia. Anemia is a condition where there is a lack of hemoglobin levels in the body, the impact of which will be seen now and in the future. Dysmenorrhea is also the most common disorder experienced by women, especially adolescents, during the menstrual cycle. Dysmenorrhea can have an impact on daily activities, but many adolescent girls still do not know the factors related to the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea, so health education is needed. The purpose of this activity was to provide health education about the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in adolescent girls and to conduct Hb level checks. This community service activity was carried out by providing education with slides and videos related to the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in 100 female students at SMP N 31 Padang. Adolescents will complete a knowledge and attitude questionnaire regarding anemia and primary dysmenorrhea before and after the intervention. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls regarding the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia. The results of Hb examinations in adolescent girls found that 6% of adolescent girls had anemia. It is hoped that this health education can be carried out periodically so that young women can have the right knowledge and a positive attitude in dealing with problems such as dysmenorrhea or anemia.
