Abstract

This study aims to test the effectiveness of dhikr therapy in reducing social anxiety in students at Islamic boarding schools. Using an experimental design with an experimental group that underwent dhikr therapy and a control group that did not receive intervention, this study measured changes in social anxiety using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) before and after the intervention. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis showed that the experimental group experienced a significant decrease in social anxiety with a Z value of -2.81 and p <0.05, while the control group did not show a significant change (Z = -0.577, p > 0.05). Dhikr therapy is effective in reducing social anxiety in students, both in terms of avoidance and anxiety. These results are in line with the theory of religious psychology and mindfulness, which shows that dhikr practices can calm the mind and increase emotional stability, helping individuals manage anxiety in social interactions. This study supports the application of dhikr therapy as an effective approach to reducing social anxiety in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Intelligence is the ability to acquire and use knowledge in order to solve problems and adapt to the environment. A person's high intelligence should be accompanied by high academic ability as well, but in reality, high IQ does not necessarily guarantee high academic achievement or learning outcomes. At most, IQ contributes about 20% to the factors that determine success in life, while 80% is determined by other factors including emotional intelligence. This explains that a person's success is not only influenced by intellectual intelligence but also by emotional intelligence. Individuals with emotional intelligence are able to monitor their feelings well, and they can control their emotions, one of which is having a high level of empathy. Emotional intelligence is the ability of an individual to motivate themselves and persevere in facing frustration, control impulsive urges, which are urges that arise based on mood, and delay gratification, regulate their mood so that it does not affect their ability to think and empathize. The purpose of the research is to determine the effectiveness of rational emotive behavior counseling using role-playing techniques to enhance emotional intelligence and empathy. This study uses a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this study, totaling 14 people, were divided into 2 groups. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Data were collected using emotional intelligence and empathy questionnaires. Data analysis used MANOVA statistical tests. The research results show that rational emotive behavior counseling using role-playing techniques is effective in enhancing emotional intelligence and empathy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Adversity Quotient (AQ) on Career Adaptability (CA) and to examine the role of Spiritual Religious (SR) as a moderating variable in this relationship. The scope of the research focuses on students of the Master of Islamic Education (MPAI) program at the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, who are facing academic challenges and preparing for careers in Islamic education. This research employed a quantitative explanatory approach. The sample consisted of 164 students selected using total sampling technique. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square(SEM-PLS) method via SmartPLS 4. The results showed that AQ had a positive and significant effect on CA (β = 0.683; p < 0.001). However, SR did not have a significant direct effect on CA (β = 0.066; p = 0.175), nor as a moderating variable (β = 0.070; p = 0.180). Simultaneously, AQ and SR explained 47.1% of the variance in CA. The study concludes that AQ is a key factor in shaping students' career adaptability, while SR serves more as a source of internal motivation rather than a statistically significant predictor. This research recommends strengthening students’ personal resilience through psychological and spiritual approaches within Islamic education.

Abstract

This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Wuryantoro with the intention of finding out how good the behavioral contract strategy is in group counseling to reduce student addiction to online games. Pre-experimental research utilizing the One Group Posttest-Posttest Design paradigm was carried out. In this study, data was taken using purposive sampling design. Sampling strategies that consider certain criteria in harmony with the study vision are known as purposive sampling. Subjects with a very high and high level of internet game addiction are the targets in this study, because the sample strategy is intended to be utilized. Researchers use a non-parametric analytical test approach, namely the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, to evaluate the efficacy of the services offered. By utilizing the data in the table, it can be concluded that group counseling with behavioral contract techniques is effective in reducing online game addiction in SMAN 1 Wuryantoro students, considering the z-calculation score of -2.021 and the significance value of 0.028 (<0.05). Therefore, we can test the hypothesis that online game addiction can be reduced effectively through group counseling.

Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects an individual's ability to engage in social interactions, communicate effectively, and display repetitive behaviors. Children with this condition require intensive and continuous care, which often leads to burdens for parents in physical, psychological, social, and financial aspects. Although caregiving burdens are commonly associated with mothers, fathers also face complex challenges in daily caregiving roles. This study aims to explore the dynamics of caregiving burden experienced by fathers of children with this condition. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was used to understand the subjective experiences of five fathers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, then analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings revealed that fathers experienced caregiving burdens across physical, psychological, social, and financial domains. Participants also employed coping strategies such as accepting the child’s condition and managing emotions adaptively. Support from spouses and families played an important role in alleviating these burdens. These findings highlight the importance of acknowledging the father’s role in caregiving and the need for comprehensive support for both parents.

Abstract

This study examines the level of mindfulness among students at SMP Negeri 13 Magelang, describes its manifestations through the lens of Islamic religious values, and identifies factors that influence students’ mindfulness. Using a quantitative descriptive design, the study involved 88 students as research participants. The instrument was an adaptation of the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), modified to suit adolescents’ developmental characteristics and tested for reliability, yielding a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.87. The investigation encompassed five dimensions of mindfulness: Observing, Describing, Acting with Awareness, Non-Judging, and Non-Reacting. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including the computation of means, percentages, and standard deviations. The findings indicate that students’ mindfulness levels fall within the moderate category across all dimensions, suggesting that although students exhibit self-awareness, their attention regulation and emotional management remain suboptimal. From the perspective of Islamic religious values, students’ mindfulness is reflected in the principles of patience, gratitude, trustworthiness, sincerity, reliance on God (tawakal), and open-heartedness. Overall, the results underscore the significant potential of Islamic religious values in fostering mindfulness and enhancing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and psychological well-being among students.

Abstract

Mental health challenges in educational contexts require culturally sensitive interventions that align with students’ worldviews and religious values. This library research examines the relationship between Islamic worldview and mental health strengthening within Islamic educational traditions. The study employed systematic literature review methodology, analyzing peer-reviewed articles from multiple databases including PubMed, PsycINFO, and Scopus, focusing on publications from 2018-2025. Thematic analysis identified key concepts regarding Islamic worldview’s role in promoting psychological wellbeing. Results reveal three main findings: First, Islamic worldview provides robust conceptual foundations for mental health through principles of balance (mīzān), trust in Allah (tawakkul), patience (sabr), and community support (ummah). Second, Islamic educational institutions implement comprehensive mechanisms including integrated spiritual-academic programs, mentorship systems, communal learning approaches, therapeutic practices, and supportive physical environments. Third, contemporary research demonstrates significant effectiveness of Islamic worldview-based approaches in addressing culture-specific mental health challenges, with evidence showing improved treatment adherence, enhanced coping abilities, and better psychological outcomes compared to conventional interventions. The study concludes that Islamic worldview offers valuable contributions to global mental health practice through holistic frameworks that integrate spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions, providing culturally authentic and therapeutically effective approaches for Muslim students in educational contexts.
