Abstract

The integration of wind power plants into Indonesia’s electrical grid requires a high level of operational reliability, particularly during network disturbances that trigger temporary voltage dips. Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) conditions pose a major challenge, as they can induce transient instability in the generator and potentially lead to turbine disconnection from the grid. This study aims to evaluate the transient stability of a wind turbine generator during grid disturbances by analyzing the current response in the d and q axes, which serves as a key dynamic indicator within the wind energy conversion system. To enhance the turbine's ability to remain connected during LVRT events, a STATCOM controlled by a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) is employed to provide rapid and adaptive reactive power compensation. Simulations are conducted to observe the oscillation patterns, damping behavior, and steady-state conditions of both current components following the disturbance. The results demonstrate that the d–q axis currents exhibit well-damped oscillations, return smoothly to steady-state values, and show no signs of divergence. These findings confirm that the LQR-controlled STATCOM significantly improves transient stability, enhances the operational reliability of wind power plants, and supports the safer and more sustainable integration of renewable energy into the electrical grid.

Abstract

Soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections remain a significant public health issue in developing countries, particularly among primary school children who are highly exposed to contaminated environments and often have inadequate personal hygiene practices. This study aimed to describe the presence of STH eggs in fecal samples of first- to third-grade students at SDN 23 Pasir Sebelah, located in Koto Tangah District, an area with historically high helminth infection rates. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used, involving total sampling of 124 students. Fecal specimens were examined microscopically using the direct smear method. Results showed that 6 students (6.9%) tested positive for STH eggs. The species identified included Ascaris lumbricoides (50%), Trichuris trichiura (40%), and hookworm (10%). Infections were more frequently found in male students and those aged 7–8 years. Most infected children demonstrated poor personal hygiene, particularly related to handwashing, nail cleanliness, and consistent use of footwear. In conclusion, the prevalence of STH infection among students at SDN 23 Pasir Sebelah was relatively low; however, inadequate personal hygiene remains a key contributing factor. Strengthening health education and promoting proper hygiene practices are essential to reduce the risk of STH transmission in school-aged children

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to support the acceleration of stunting reduction in Nagari Dusun Tangah, Solok Selatan Regency. Stunting is a public health problem that affects physical growth, cognitive development, and long-term productivity. This condition is primarily caused by inadequate maternal nutrition during pregnancy, improper child-feeding practices, recurrent infections, and poor environmental sanitation. The activity involved 22 participants, consisting of pregnant women and mothers of children under five. The methods used included interactive lectures, discussions, demonstrations of locally sourced complementary feeding (MP-ASI), sanitation education, promotion of clean and healthy living behaviors, and basic training for posyandu cadres. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results showed positive responses and strong interest among participants in improving child-feeding practices and household hygiene. The MP-ASI demonstration using local ingredients such as eggs, freshwater fish, and homegrown vegetables was considered highly beneficial. The increase in participants' knowledge aligns with theoretical causes of stunting, particularly related to optimal nutrition, infection prevention, and sanitation. This activity also strengthened the capacity of posyandu cadres and enhanced collaboration between the puskesmas, local government, and the community. Overall, the socialization successfully improved family understanding of stunting prevention and is expected to serve as an initial step toward sustainable community-based nutrition interventions.

Abstract

Simalungun Regency has 32 sub-districts covering an area of 438,660 hectares, representing 6.12% of the total area of North Sumatra province. There are 386 villages (nagori) and 27 sub-districts (kelurahan). In Pematang Bandar District, corn and rice are commonly cultivated. In Balata Village, Jorlang Hataran District, farmers are organized into the "Harapan Jaya" farmer group and prefer to cultivate corn. Corn prices in the Indonesian market are unstable, impacting farmers' incomes. Training in processing corn into food is needed to increase their income. This training encompasses skills in production and marketing. Digital marketing training can help farmers promote their products and expand their marketing reach. Corn is an important commodity in Indonesia, serving as a source of food, animal feed, and industrial raw materials. Corn is also a staple food in some regions and is used in various industries. Corn mills are essential post-harvest tools to increase corn's added value, improve production efficiency compared to manual methods, and support food security. However, many farmers in Indonesia still use traditional methods with low productivity and lack knowledge of crop processing and marketing strategies. Farmers face various challenges, such as limited access to information and price fluctuations. Capacity building through training is needed to improve production and marketing. The "Harapan Jaya" farmer group focuses on corn cultivation and sales, but has not yet maximized the added value of their harvest.

Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of the Maloy Port development on traffic performance along the Maloy Port Access National Road using Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin). Increased logistics activity and heavy-vehicle intensity raised traffic volume by 25–30 percent and reduced the Level of Service (LOS) from category B to C. Nevertheless, the roadway remains within a safe operating condition, indicated by an average degree of saturation (DS) of 0.09, following the MKJI (1997) standard. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, interviews, and technical document review to assess changes in traffic flow characteristics, capacity, and conflict points in the port area. The findings identify four major conflict points, with the highest risk occurring along the heavy-vehicle exit route. Technical interventions—including temporary one-way flow management, shoulder widening, and improvements to signage and pavement marking—enhanced traffic efficiency by up to 22 percent. These results underscore the need to integrate Andalalin recommendations with sustainable transportation principles and the potential application of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for real-time traffic management. The study contributes theoretically to the understanding of the interrelationship between port development, roadway capacity, and traffic safety, and provides practical guidance for evidence-based and adaptive traffic management policies.

Abstract

Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a potentially irreversible extrapyramidal movement disorder characterized by involuntary, repetitive movements, predominantly affecting the orofacial region. Although most commonly associated with prolonged exposure to dopamine receptor–blocking agents, TD may also arise following the use of gastrointestinal prokinetics such as metoclopramide. Female sex, diabetes mellitus, advanced age, and renal impairment are recognized risk factors that increase susceptibility, yet TD remains underrecognized outside psychiatric settings. A 49-year-old woman with poorly controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus presented with nausea, vomiting, and generalized weakness. Laboratory findings demonstrated normocytic anemia, uncontrolled hyperglycemia (HbA1c 9.2%), and acute-on-chronic kidney disease (eGFR 22 mL/min/1.73 m²). She received standard supportive therapy, including intravenous metoclopramide. Within 24 hours, she developed repetitive tongue protrusion and orofacial dyskinesia. Neuroimaging and electrolyte evaluation were unremarkable, and there was no history of prior neuroleptic exposure. Metoclopramide was promptly discontinued, leading to gradual improvement and complete resolution of symptoms within two weeks. Antiemetic therapy was switched to ondansetron. This case underscores that acute TD may occur after short-term metoclopramide use, particularly in patients with diabetes and renal dysfunction. Heightened clinical awareness and cautious prescribing are essential to prevent this potentially disabling adverse effect.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strong and significant relationship between the Muslim attributes of culinary MSME merchants and consumer purchase decisions in Mataram City. The background of this study stems from the importance of the principle of halal (permissible) as a main pillar of Muslim consumer behavior, especially in Mataram, which focuses on the development of halal tourism. At the MSME level, halal certification is often conveyed thru informal visual and personal signals. The Muslim attributes that are the focus of this research are: the use of the hijab by female vendors, the presence of banners/writings with Muslim phrases (e.g., 'Halal', 'Muslim', or 'Bismillah'), and the absence of tattoos on male vendors. This correlational quantitative study used a sample of Al-Azhar University (UNIZAR) students, with data collected thru structured questionnaires and analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis. The research results show a very strong and significant effect. The Significance Test (t-test) yielded a calculated t-value of 12.056 with a significance level of 0.000, which statistically proves that the Muslim attribute has a positive influence on purchasing decisions. The strength of this relationship is indicated by a Correlation Coefficient (R) of 0.917 and a Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.841 (or 84.1%), confirming that 84.1% of the variation in purchasing decisions is explained by Muslim Attributes. This finding supports the theory of Islamic Consumption Behavior, concluding that for religiously sensitive consumers in Mataram, Muslim attributes are a primary determinant of purchasing decisions. Therefore, culinary MSMEs are advised to prioritize Islamic ethics and visual communication to build trust and increase competitiveness.
