Abstract

Saving habits are a fundamental aspect in shaping a thrifty, disciplined, and responsible character from an early age. However, in Dusun Alas Malang, awareness of the importance of saving remains low, especially among children. Through an individual Community Service Program (KKN), an educational and training-based activity was carried out to foster saving habits among elementary school students. The methods used included delivering learning materials, practicing decorating piggy banks made from recycled materials using origami paper, and conducting a question-and-answer session as an evaluation. Hindu economic values from Sloka Sarasamuccaya 262 were integrated to relate the concept of saving with religious teachings. The results showed an increase in children’s understanding and enthusiasm for saving pocket money, along with improved creativity through piggy bank decoration activities. This program effectively fostered frugality, creativity, and financial as well as moral responsibility. Early saving education is essential to build children’s awareness of financial management.

Abstract

The evolution of digital technology demands that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) adapt to survive and remain competitive in an increasingly complex business ecosystem. This community service article aims to enhance MSMEs’ readiness to adopt digital technology to support a sustainable business ecosystem. The implementation method involved outreach, training, and mentoring MSME actors focusing on accounting applications, digital marketing, and social media utilization. Through this approach, MSMEs were equipped with digital literacy, enhanced human resource competencies, and an understanding of relevant technologies. The results indicate that while most MSMEs are aware of the importance of digitalization, they continue to face obstacles in digital literacy, technical infrastructure, and organizational support. This community service effort is expected to serve as a strategic step in building a digital business ecosystem that is inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable for MSMEs.

Abstract

The low productivity of long beans in Sipahoras Lama Village, caused by conventional cultivation systems lacking soil protection, poses a significant challenge to local food security. This Student Creativity Program (PKM) aims to introduce Silver-Black Plastic Mulch technology to address weed competition and microclimate fluctuations. The implementation method employed a participatory approach, encompassing problem identification, socialization, and technical training through the establishment of demonstration plots. The results indicated a significant improvement in the partners' skills in applying the technology independently. Agronomically, the use of mulch proved effective in suppressing weed growth, maintaining soil moisture stability, and producing healthier vegetative plant performance compared to control plots. It is concluded that this transfer of appropriate technology serves as an effective strategy to enhance farming efficiency and support sustainable village food self-sufficiency.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance financial literacy among early childhood children in Dusun Pemangkalan, Batu Mekar Village, through the creation of creative savings from used bottles integrated with Hindu economic values. The methodological approach included community education, participatory training, and demonstration sessions. Activities were conducted through multiple phases: initial socialization about financial literacy importance, creative workshops on transforming waste bottles into functional piggy banks, and the introduction of basic Hindu economic principles such as Tri Hita Karana and the concept of Artha. The results indicated a modest improvement in children's understanding of saving concepts and money values, with pre-intervention assessment showing 35% understanding and post-intervention reaching 55%. Parental involvement was observed to be crucial, though participation levels varied. Environmental awareness also showed slight improvement. The study concludes that while culturally contextual and creative approaches show potential, sustained efforts and longer intervention periods are needed for significant impact. The integration of local values proved meaningful in connecting abstract financial concepts to children's daily experiences.

Abstract

The issue of low ethical literacy and teacher professionalism at SMP Negeri 28 Kota Malang served as the foundation for implementing this community service program. Some teachers still perceive teaching merely as an administrative duty rather than a moral calling, and they lack innovation in both instructional practices and the use of technology. This program aims to strengthen teacher ethics and professionalism through the development and training of the interactive game Etprof. The community service activities were carried out using a participatory approach through three stages: socialization, training (workshops), and evaluation using questionnaires. The results indicate that participants showed very positive perceptions of Etprof’s effectiveness in enhancing understanding of teaching ethics, professionalism, and self-reflection. The percentage of “agree” and “strongly agree” responses ranged from 88% to 100% across aspects such as material usefulness, media effectiveness, and training relevance. Etprof was considered effective as it provides realistic ethical simulation scenarios, facilitates reflective thinking, and encourages the integration of technology in teaching practices. Consequently, the use of Etprof strengthens ethical awareness, professional attitudes, and teacher readiness to face educational challenges in the Society 5.0 era. This innovation holds potential for further development and replication as a technology-based community service model in other schools.

Abstract

Youth empowerment is a crucial issue in national development, particularly in reducing unemployment and increasing their involvement in the economy. In Padang City, the Open Unemployment Rate reached 9.8% in 2024, the highest in West Sumatra Province, contributing to the rise in drug cases, brawls, and gambling in several areas, including Ulak Karang Selatan Village. As a solution, a Community Service program was initiated to empower Karang Taruna (Youth Organization). This program aims to increase the capacity of youth through skills training, namely making contemporary flower boards, to support their economic independence. The approach offered is conducting training and mentoring activities during the service activities. The methods used in the training are lectures, discussions, questions and answers, practice, and guidance. The results of this PKM activity are an increase in participants' understanding of the flower board business and digital marketing. Participants are now able to arrange flowers on acrylic boards, create social media and promotional content to market the flower boards they produce.

Abstract

The application of norms in managing tourist villages is a crucial aspect that is often overlooked. The lack of clear information regarding the ethical rules and community norms has led to uncontrolled tourist behavior. This situation has caused socio-cultural impacts, including violations of local values and ethics that threaten the existing local wisdom embedded in the community’s social and cultural life. The implementation of ethics and norms is expected to increase the awareness of Tegal Loegood Tourism Village residents regarding the importance of formulating and disseminating village tourism regulations. In addition to fostering public awareness of the enforcement of ethics and norms, this community service activity also aims to enhance community capacity through foreign language guiding training. This training is closely related to the implementation of ethics and norms, as tour guides play an essential role in conveying these values to visitors before the tour begins. The method employed is a school-based community field school, conducted through a series of socialization sessions, interactive discussions, and foreign language guiding training. The results indicate an improvement in the community’s understanding of the importance of preserving norms as part of sustainable tourism practices. The community not only succeeded in formulating village regulations but also began to apply the practice of conveying these rules to tourists during tours. This assistance has strengthened the community’s position as both the guardian of local wisdom and an active partner in guiding tourist behavior to align with local culture.
