Abstract

Work safety aboard merchant ships remains critical as occupational accidents frequently occur due to inadequate implementation of safety procedures. This study aims to identify the factors causing the suboptimal application of the Permit to Work (PTW) system on board MV. Medelin First, analyze its impact on safety, and formulate optimization strategies. A qualitative descriptive method was employed with purposive and snowball sampling involving 5–7 ship crew members as participants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Results show that PTW documents were formally prepared but not consistently implemented in practice, particularly in gas testing, supervision, and personal protective equipment usage. The findings indicate that these inconsistencies elevate accident risks during high-risk tasks such as hot work and enclosed space entry. The conclusion emphasizes that PTW optimization requires strict supervision, adequate safety equipment, integrated risk assessment, and regular safety training to build an effective safety culture on board.

Abstract

The increasingly intense competition in the beauty service industry requires companies to continuously build customer loyalty. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect effects of promotion and price perception on customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction as a mediating variable at Yopie Salon Kota Palangka Raya. The research employed a quantitative explanatory approach involving 97 respondents selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using SEM-PLS (Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares). The findings indicate that promotion and price perception have positive and significant effects on both customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. However, customer satisfaction does not have a significant effect on customer loyalty and does not mediate the relationship between promotion and price perception and customer loyalty. These results suggest that customer loyalty is more directly influenced by promotion and price perception rather than through the mechanism of customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Migrant students often experience homesickness during initial adaptation to university life away from family, manifesting as emotional distress including sadness, anxiety, and reduced motivation. This study aimed to examine the effect of emotion regulation on homesickness behavior among Faculty of Education and Psychology migrant students at Universitas Negeri Manado cohorts 2023-2024. Quantitative research with associative design was employed, targeting a population of all migrant students from these cohorts and purposive sampling of 75 respondents. Data collected via 63-item Likert scale questionnaire on emotion regulation and homesickness were analyzed using simple linear regression, normality, linearity tests via SPSS 24. Results revealed a significant negative effect (β = -0.648, t = 12.007, p < 0.05) with emotion regulation contributing 64.7% to homesickness variance. In conclusion, stronger emotion regulation skills substantially reduce homesickness intensity, suggesting emotion regulation training as essential for migrant student adaptation.

Abstract

Happiness (al-sa'ādah) remains a central theme across philosophy, psychology, and social sciences, yet contemporary views often reduce it to material pleasures, overlooking spiritual dimensions emphasized by Abu Nasr al-Farabi. This study aims to analyze al-Farabi's concept of happiness, focusing on the roles of intellect (potential, actual, active) and soul (vegetative, imaginative, rational powers) as pathways to eternal felicity oriented toward God. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach via library research, the population comprised all relevant literature up to 2025, with a purposive sample of 20-25 high-quality sources from Google Scholar. Instruments included primary texts like Tahsil al-Sa'adah and secondary journals; data were analyzed through qualitative content analysis involving thematic coding, reduction, and triangulation. Findings reveal happiness as the ultimate good achieved via four virtues (theoretical, intellectual, moral, practical) and stages: soul purification, material detachment, divine imitation, and societal guidance. In conclusion, al-Farabi's framework offers a holistic model for modern well-being, surpassing hedonism through intellect-soul perfection.

Abstract

The fokus of this study is to examine the influence of membership programs, price discounts, and customer satisfaction on customer loyalty at Toserba Lintang Shop Bojong. The study used a quantitative method with probability sampling through simple random sampling, resulting in 85 respondents who had made purchases. Data was colled using an online questionnaire (Google Form) and analyzed using multiple linear regression with help of SPSS. The results of the analysis show that individually, membership programs, price discounts, and customer satisfaction have a positive and significant contribution to customer loyalty, with price discounts being the most dominant factor. Simultaneously, these three variables also had a significant effect on customer loyalty, as indicated by the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.809 This means that 80.9% of the changes in customer loyalty were explained by the model, while the remaining 19.1% were influenced by factors outside the scope of the study. These findings reveal that customer retention strategies in local retail need to integrate the provision of economic incentives through discounts, strengthen the benefits of membership programs, and continuously improve customer satisfaction in order to build long-term customer loyalty.

Abstract

This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary food system within its totality. Using a qualitative approach through literature review, the analysis is primarily grounded in Karl Marx’s Capital: A Critique of Political Economy (Volume I) and Eric Holt-Giménez’s A Foodie’s Guide to Capitalism. The discussion focuses on the moment of food production, where food transforms from a mere object of subsistence into a commodity. This transformation constitutes the fundamental basis of the modern food system. The argument is constructed through a causal analytical framework, beginning with the fundamental question of how food is produced, and situating capitalism as the overarching social structure that conditions the entire process. The findings indicate that the capitalist mode of production organizes food production not for direct consumption, but for capital accumulation, resulting in structural contradictions such as hunger amidst abundance. Furthermore, the absence of capitalism as a central analytical variable in contemporary food discourse leads to fragmented and depoliticized food movements that fail to address root causes. This study concludes that a critical understanding of capitalism is an essential prerequisite for any attempt to create a healthy, equitable, and sustainable food system. Without such a perspective, efforts to reform the food system will remain superficial and ineffective in resolving its structural problems.

Abstract

Digital transformation in payment systems through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) has become a key pillar of MSME modernization in Indonesia. However, the adoption of this technology in dynamic public spaces such as Car Free Day (CFD) still faces challenges related to user perceptions regarding operational aspects and data protection. This study aims to empirically analyze the influence of QRIS ease of use and security on consumer purchase decisions at culinary MSMEs in CFD Palangka Raya. A quantitative research approach with a causal associative method was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires from 100 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique at the CFD Palangka Raya research site, with a Likert scale questionnaire instrument. The data analysis techniques applied included classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS statistical software to examine the relationships between variables both partially and simultaneously. The results indicate that the ease of use and security variables have a positive and significant influence on consumer purchase decisions. Simultaneously, both variables contribute 62.4% to the variation in purchase decisions, as indicated by the coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.624. These findings suggest that the efficiency of transaction procedures and system security guarantees are the main determinant factors in strengthening public trust and interest in digital transactions in open public spaces.

Abstract

This research is directed to examine in-depth the form of organizational change that occurred at the Rice Agricultural Assembly and Modernization Center (BRMP) and analyze the impact on employee performance through employee experience, perception, and view. Research findings indicate that the organizational change in BRMP Padi is not just a change in the name of the institution, but a complex structural and functional change, from a research-based organization, switching to a standardization orientation, to an organization that combines the functions of technology assembly, modernization, and standardization. Although the quality of performance is relatively maintained, the employee's response to change is adaptive but accompanied by the dynamics of adjustment in the initial phase formed by previous experience of change. The research concludes that the sustainability of employee performance is highly dependent on policy clarity, budget support, human resource adequacy, and the active role of leaders in managing organizational changes. This study contributes to enriching the study of organizational change in the public sector by providing an empirical understanding of the impact of repeated organizational changes on employee performance and the importance of sustainable change management.
