Abstract

The utilization and optimization of the added value of the medicinal plant Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb. have not yet been undertaken. The Community Service (PkM) program aims to educate members of the Jaya Lestari Farmers’ Group (POKTAN) and Women Farmers’ Group (KWT). Pandan leaves can be developed into a commercially viable product specifically, a herbal tea formulation containing stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) and rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) to serve as an antioxidant supplement for people with diabetes. The methodology used in this Community Service Program is qualitative, involving data collection through interviews, observations, educational sessions, training, and hands-on guidance in the production of herbal tea products. The PkM program was evaluated through pre-test and post-tests; data analysis revealed a significant increase in participants’ knowledge, from 60.95% to 67.95%, as well as the positive impact of entrepreneurship education on enhancing the capacity of POKTAN partners, who have successfully developed an innovation in the production of pandan wangi leaf tea.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to provide teachers with knowledge and insight regarding interactive learning videos as a learning resource. Interactive learning videos are one of the tools that can be used in learning activities. Using videos in the learning process is an effective and dynamic alternative, especially in addressing low learning outcomes and a lack of conceptual understanding. The method used in this community service activity is direct training and mentoring for participating teachers, in this case junior high school teachers in Gunung Sugih District, Central Lampung Regency. The community service team hopes that this community service activity will achieve the goals planned by the community service team, namely the creation of interactive learning videos that can be used as a learning resource for students in the classroom. Furthermore, the community service team hopes to further disseminate information regarding the creation and use of interactive learning videos through the publication of scientific articles

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the basic English communication skills of Mathayom 1 students at Anuban Chomchon Phukradueng School, Loei Province, Thailand, through an international internship program that provides cross-cultural learning experiences. The program involved 20 students and was conducted over three months with a total of 12 meetings. The methods included needs analysis, lesson planning based on Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), dialogue practice using drilling and repetition techniques, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test in the form of simple conversations, supported by classroom participation observation. The results showed improvements in pronunciation, fluency, accuracy, and confidence, as well as a significant increase in student participation from 30% at the beginning to 85% at the end of the program. Students demonstrated greater confidence in speaking, the ability to sustain simple conversations, and reduced anxiety when performing in front of the class. These findings indicate that a communicative approach combined with repetitive practice in a cross-cultural learning context is effective in supporting the development of speaking skills among beginner-level EFL students. Practically, this program can serve as an alternative teaching strategy for teachers to enhance student participation and confidence by integrating communicative activities with drilling techniques in English language learning.

Abstract

Economic literacy and communication skills are essential competencies that help students understand business concepts and interact effectively in professional and social environments. Early exposure to these competencies is important to encourage students to apply economic principles and communication skills in real-life situations. Therefore, the Market Day activity was conducted to introduce students to the concept of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while improving their communication abilities through practical experience. This community service program integrates economic literacy education with communication training, including verbal and non-verbal communication, public speaking, product promotion, and customer service. The activity involved 30 students who were divided into several groups and participated in product planning, product creation, and direct selling activities over two days. Evaluation was conducted through observation and performance assessment during the activity. he results showed positive improvements in students' understanding of basic economic concepts and communication abilities. Approximately 83% of students demonstrated increased confidence in interacting with customers, while 78% showed better ability in explaining and promoting products effectively. In addition, students demonstrated greater creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm. In conclusion, the Market Day program was effective in enhancing students' economic literacy and communication skills through practice-based learning experiences.

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas guru Pendidikan Pancasila SMP di Kota Bandar Lampung dalam menyusun modul ajar berbasis board games yang mengintegrasikan nilai civic ekologis. Permasalahan utama yang ditemui adalah rendahnya pemahaman guru tentang Flipped Classroom, keterbatasan pengalaman menggunakan media inovatif, serta kurangnya integrasi isu lingkungan dalam pembelajaran. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan pendekatan partisipatif melalui tahapan pelatihan interaktif, simulasi permainan, uji coba modul, refleksi bersama, dan pendampingan. Evaluasi menggunakan pretest–posttest serta wawancara dan observasi. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada seluruh aspek. Pemahaman guru terhadap Flipped Classroom dan civic ekologis meningkat lebih dari 50%, dan keyakinan terhadap efektivitas board games naik dari 38,1% menjadi 100%. Secara kualitatif, guru menyatakan kelas lebih interaktif, siswa lebih aktif mengambil keputusan, serta nilai peduli lingkungan dapat dipraktikkan melalui permainan. Kendala yang muncul meliputi keterbatasan waktu, variasi kemampuan teknologi, dan kebutuhan dukungan kebijakan sekolah. Secara keseluruhan, integrasi experiential learning, konstruktivisme sosial, dan game-based learning terbukti efektif memperkuat kompetensi guru serta menanamkan civic ekologis secara kontekstual.

Abstract

Teachers' assessment instrument development still focuses on memorizing, understanding, and applying the skills. Evaluation questions encompass Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and the 7Cs (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, Connectivity, Computational Thinking, and Cross-Cultural Understanding). This technical guidance aims to equip teachers with skills, update their knowledge, and train them in developing 7C and HOTS assessment instruments. The method used was technical guidance that began with a pretest, followed by material delivery, discussion, Q&A, and practice in preparing 7C and HOTS assessment instruments, as well as a posttest. This technical guidance was attended by 47 people who are members of the Indonesian Education Evaluation Association (HEPI), a professional association in the field of education. The results of the technical guidance activities showed that the increase in teachers' understanding of preparing 7C and HOTS assessment instruments was classified as moderate with an average n-gain of 0.69. The results of the n-gain data classification showed that 47% of teachers' understanding increased moderately and 53% increased significantly. Therefore, this training activity was effective in improving the understanding of 7C assessment preparation and HOTS assessment for teachers who are members of the HEPI professional association.

Abstract

This community engagement programme has been launched in response to the challenges of public communication in the digital age, such as the spread of fake news, rising negative sentiment, and the public’s limited ability to engage in constructive dialogue on social media. As a partner, the Kolaborator Kebaikan Foundation seeks to strengthen the community’s skills in dialogic communication in order to foster ethical and participatory public interaction. Through a cultural approach and the use of communication technology, this programme enhances dialogue-based communication literacy. Telkom University, in collaboration with the Kolaborator Kebaikan Indonesia Foundation, organises training that applies the principles of mutuality, closeness, empathy, risk, and commitment, encompassing the stages of preparation, awareness-raising, training, mentoring, evaluation, and dissemination. Data was collected through pre-tests, post-tests, observations and focused group discussions. The material covered dialogic communication, digital ethics and the management of interactions on social media. The evaluation results showed an improvement in participants’ competencies, reflected in an increase in the average comprehension score from 64 to 86.5, and 20 participants reported a better understanding of the principles of dialogic communication and social media ethics following the training. These findings indicate an improvement in participants’ ability to manage differences of opinion and foster more constructive interactions in the digital space; consequently, this programme helps to strengthen the institution’s relationship with the public by enhancing the community’s capacity for dialogic communication.

Abstract

The increasingly complex ecological crisis demands a reorientation of citizenship from a mere relation of political-juridical rights and obligations toward moral responsibility for the environment. This community service activity aimed to strengthen ecological citizenship among students of the Primary School Teacher Education Program at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Cibiru Campus through an online public lecture on integrating ecological values into Civic Education. The activity employed interactive lectures, guided discussions, and structured reflection through a video-conferencing platform. Evaluation used pre-activity and immediate post-activity questionnaires to identify short-term changes in understanding, attitudes, and behavioural intention, not long-term ecological action. The results indicate an initial improvement in participants' understanding of ecological citizenship, awareness of their connectedness to the more-than-human community, and commitment to integrating environmental education into Civic Education practice in primary schools. The activity served as an entry point for forming the ecological identity of prospective primary teachers and requires institutional follow-up through curriculum integration, campus habituation, and practice-based programs.

Abstract

The evaluation of learning outcomes at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School Foundation in Tulang Bawang is still dominated by low-level conventional assessments (LOTS) due to teachers’ low evaluation literacy and the challenges posed by the duality of the Islamic boarding school and national curricula. This community service (PKM) activity aims to improve teachers’ pedagogical competencies and practical assessment literacy in developing authentic evaluation instruments based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The implementation method integrates the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach and the Collaborative Mentoring Model for 25 Tsanawiyah and Aliyah madrasah teachers. The program results showed a highly significant increase in assessment literacy (p < 0.001), with participants’ average scores jumping from 48.52 to 84.24. In addition, this initiative successfully produced 15 authentic assessment instruments grounded in the local wisdom of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren)—such as students’ daily activities, local environmental issues, and classical religious texts—with an expert validity rating of 86.5% (Highly Valid). As a concrete recommendation, it is suggested that a sustainable peer-review forum be established through an internal teacher working group and that this structured collaborative mentoring model be replicated in similar traditional rural religious educational institutions to ensure the sustainability of learning quality.
