Abstract

Mental health is an important component in realizing healthy ageing, so promotional efforts are needed through health education at the community level. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of the elderly about stress management and evaluate changes in knowledge after education in East Pejaten Village, Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta. The activity was carried out on May 11, 2026 by involving 37 elderly people consisting of 9 men (24.3%) and 28 women (75.7%). Methods include coordination with partners, pre-test, delivery of material by psychiatrists through interactive lectures, discussions, demonstrations, as well as deep breathing relaxation practices, mindfulness, and adaptive coping strategies  supported by educational posters. The evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments containing 10 questions, then analyzed descriptively and using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 91.89 to 92.97 with a difference of 1.08 points. A total of 86.5% of participants maintained the same score, 5.4% experienced an increase, and 8.1% experienced a decrease in score. Wilcoxon's test showed that the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.680). Nevertheless, this activity strengthened participants' knowledge about mental health and stress management and showed that community-based education with the involvement of psychiatrists and poster media has the potential to be a promotive strategy that supports improving the quality of life and health services for the elderly in the community.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to improve the numeracy literacy skills of students at SD Negeri 1 Pedes through intensive tutoring at the UMBY Mathematics Education Tutoring Center "The Brilliant Minds". This activity was conducted from June to July 2026, targeting 3rd grade students. The program was implemented through an academic collaboration between Mathematics Education lecturers from Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY), Mathematics Education lecturers from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), and students from the UMBY Mathematics Education Student Association (HIMATIKA). The implementation method was based on a need assessment and a participatory approach comprising five stages: preparation, diagnostic assessment, module/tool development, intensive tutoring, and evaluation and follow-up. One of the main innovations applied by student tutors was the use of the Jarimatika method and context-based word problems to reduce math anxiety and enhance students' concrete understanding. The evaluation results showed an increase in the overall average numeracy score, from a pretest score of 93.45 to a posttest score of 95.00. The most significant improvement was experienced by students in the category requiring intensive guidance. This program proved effective in building students' motivation, confidence, and critical thinking skills, while providing a sustainable impact through the handover of learning modules to the partner school.

Abstract

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is a key component in supporting high-quality learning processes at schools. Well-planned, organized, effectively implemented, and sustainable management of the LRC can also help teachers provide more effective resources, media, and learning environments for students. This study aims to describe how the management of the Learning Resource Center is implemented as a means of improving the quality of learning at Sinar Husni Private Junior High School. The study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving the school principal, the Learning Resource Center manager, teachers, and students selected based on specific criteria aligned with the research objectives. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, while data validity was strengthened through triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of the study indicate that the management of the Learning Resource Center has been carried out through the processes of program planning, resource organization, service delivery, and periodic evaluation. The existence of Learning Resource Centers has a positive impact on improving the quality of learning, including through the use of a wider variety of learning media, increased teacher creativity in classroom management, greater student motivation, and the creation of more interactive and student-centered learning. Nevertheless, the management of Learning Resource Centers still faces several challenges, such as budget constraints, the uneven adoption of educational technology, and the need to enhance the competencies of administrators and teachers in developing Learning Resource Center services. Therefore, efforts are needed to strengthen the management of Learning Resource Centers through improving the quality of human resources, providing adequate facilities, and optimizing the use of technology as part of a strategy to improve the quality of learning in schools

Abstract

This community service (PkM) activity introduced SchoolShare, a web-based knowledge-sharing application for elementary school teachers in partner villages/regions, and evaluated its initial technology acceptance using an extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model with additional Attitude (ATT) and Willingness to Make Payment (WMP) constructs. The first training was held at SDN Rawamangun 05, East Jakarta, and a 23-item, 7-construct UTAUT questionnaire was distributed to 107 teachers after training. At this reporting stage, complete and analyzable data were available for three constructs only: Performance Expectancy (PE, 4 items), Behavioral Intention (BI, 3 items), and Willingness to Maintain/Purchase (WMP, 2 items); results reported here are therefore descriptive. All indicators had a median of 4 on a 1-5 scale. BI obtained the highest construct mean (4.022; SD=0.487), followed by WMP (4.009; SD=0.587) and PE (3.937; SD=0.424). The pattern of BI exceeding PE suggests relatively strong usage intention despite performance-benefit perceptions not yet being fully confirmed, a pattern common at the early piloting stage of technology implementation. Structural model testing (PLS-SEM) of 12 hypotheses (H1-H12) could not yet be conducted because data for the remaining constructs did not meet analysis requirements, and remains the main agenda for the next stage of the program.

Abstract

Elementary school teachers face challenges in developing teaching materials that are engaging and adaptive to students' learning needs, while the use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for this purpose remains limited, particularly in the ability to compose structured prompts. This community service activity focused on improving the competence of teachers at SDN Rawajati 06 Pagi in developing AI-assisted comic-based teaching materials and measuring its impact on student learning outcomes. The activity aimed to improve teachers' understanding of prompt engineering principles for producing contextual instructional comics and to evaluate its effectiveness on student learning outcomes. The methods used included a needs analysis through a pre-training questionnaire, material presentation and demonstration, hands-on practice in composing AI prompts, a post-training questionnaire, and a classroom trial of the resulting comics evaluated through a pretest-posttest design involving 21 students. The results showed significant improvement in teacher competence: the percentage of teachers able to compose structured comic prompts increased from 0% to 55.6%, the use of AI to create comics increased from 11.1% to 57.1%, and all participants (100%) expressed satisfaction with the training. At the student level, the average learning outcome score increased from 7.10 to 8.43, with an N-Gain of 0.50 (moderate category) and a paired t-test showing a significant difference (p < .001). This activity demonstrates that training in AI prompt composition for comic-based teaching materials effectively improves teachers' digital competence and positively impacts student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Badan Usaha Milik Nagari (BUMNag) is a community economic institution that plays a strategic role in supporting economic independence based on local potential through the management of various nagari business activities. The success of managing BUMNag is not only determined by the ability to run business activities but is also influenced by the quality of financial governance that is transparent, accountable, and capable of providing relevant financial information for decision-making. One of the problems faced by BUMNag Sehati Lubuk Gadang is the limited understanding of the managers in recording transactions and preparing financial reports systematically. This community service activity aims to improve the financial literacy of the managers of BUMNag Sehati Lubuk Gadang through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The implementation method was carried out through several stages, namely problem identification with partners, action plan preparation, practice-based training, assistance in financial report preparation, and evaluation and reflection on the activity results. The results of the activities show an increase in the managers' understanding of basic accounting concepts, transaction classification, financial recording processes, and the preparation of simple financial reports. The PAR approach is capable of creating a participatory learning process, allowing managers not only to acquire technical knowledge but also to develop the ability to implement financial management more independently and sustainably.

Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) on January 2, 2026, introduced significant changes to Indonesia’s national criminal law system, including the regulation of cohabitation as a complaint-based offense. These changes require improved legal literacy among young people to ensure accurate understanding of the new legal provisions and prevent misinformation, particularly amid the rapid flow of information in the digital era. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the legal literacy of students at SMA Negeri 1 Jayapura regarding the regulation of cohabitation under the New Criminal Code through an interactive and participatory legal education approach. The activities involved the delivery of substantive legal materials, discussions, case studies, clarification of myths and facts, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding from 67% in the pre-test to 98% in the post-test, representing an improvement of 31%. This increase demonstrates that a dialogical and case-based legal education approach was effective in strengthening students’ understanding of cohabitation, complaint-based offenses, and the importance of legal literacy. The program also produced digital educational materials, including infographics and short educational videos, which can be utilized by the school as sustainable learning resources. This program contributes to strengthening legal awareness among adolescents and promoting a better understanding of national criminal law within the social and cultural context of Papua.

Abstract

The utilization of smart farming technology and strengthening farmers’ capacity are needed to support rice cultivation management that is adaptive to environmental conditions and the risks posed by plant pests and diseases. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Makmur Bersama Geh Farmer Group (Mabes Geh), Rejo Basuki Village, Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency, through the implementation of smart farming based on an Automatic Weather Station (AWS) and enhancement of farmers’ knowledge of rice pests and diseases. The activity was conducted using a participatory approach through three main activities: program socialization and identification of group needs, socialization and installation of an AWS in the rice field, and extension activities on rice pests and diseases and their management. Knowledge improvement was evaluated among 22 participants using pre-test and post-test assessments. The data were analyzed descriptively and using normalized gain (N-gain). The results showed that the AWS had been installed and could be accessed online to monitor environmental conditions in real time, including rainfall probability, rainfall, temperature, humidity, cloud cover, and wind speed. The extension activities increased the participants’ mean knowledge score from 51.36 in the pre-test to 78.18 in the post-test, representing a 52.22% increase. The N-gain value of 0.56 indicated a moderate level of knowledge improvement. These findings indicate that the implementation of AWS accompanied by farmer capacity building can support the use of data-driven information and improve farmers’ knowledge in identifying and managing rice pests and diseases.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the leadership strategies employed by the principal in aligning the school’s vision and mission with the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, enhancing teacher competencies, and identifying supporting and hindering factors at An-Nizam Private Islamic Junior High School in Medan. This field research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The informants involved included the principal, the vice principal for curriculum, and the vice principal for student affairs. The results indicate that the principal aligns the school’s vision and mission by adjusting the school’s objectives while maintaining its Islamic identity, which is implemented through a Quran memorization program and the integration of technology. Teacher competencies are enhanced through training, seminars, and periodic academic supervision. Supporting factors include the principal’s commitment, teacher support, curriculum flexibility, and parental cooperation, while inhibiting factors are teachers’ resistance to adaptation, a lack of consistency in learning, and technological challenges. Thus, the principal plays a vital role in ensuring that the Merdeka Curriculum runs effectively and remains aligned with the institution’s strategic goals.

Abstract

Parenting plays an important role in shaping parent-child relationships, particularly as families face social change and the growing presence of digital technology in everyday life. Parents need to build warm relationships while maintaining clear rules and boundaries. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of women members of the Family Welfare Movement in Kajar Village regarding positive parenting, respectful communication, nonviolent discipline, consistent rules, and guidance for children's social and digital activities. The program was conducted on July 31, 2026, at Kajar Village Hall and involved 18 participants aged 30-50 years. Participatory education was delivered through presentations, examples of family situations, quizzes, discussions, questions and answers, and reflection on parenting experiences. Participants' knowledge was measured using a pretest and posttest, and the scores were analyzed descriptively and with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The mean score increased from 7.72 at pretest to 9.44 at posttest. Sixteen participants improved and two maintained the same score. The Wilcoxon test showed a difference between scores before and after the program (W = 0; p < 0.001). These findings indicate a short-term improvement in participants' knowledge. Since the posttest was administered immediately after the activity, the results cannot yet be used to assess changes in parenting practices at home. Follow-up activities should monitor the application of the material and evaluate participants several weeks after the educational session.
