Abstract

Modern Islamic boarding schools are residential-based educational environments that play a strategic role in shaping students’ dietary patterns and lifestyles. The integration of Islamic values into daily life has the potential to serve as an effective approach to controlling students’ health. This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic dietary patterns and lifestyle as a strategy for health control among students in modern Islamic boarding schools. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Research informants consisted of students and boarding school administrators selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and meanings emerging from students’ daily practices. The findings indicate that Islamic dietary patterns—encompassing the principles of halal and thayyib, eating etiquette, and moderation—along with Islamic lifestyles reflected in discipline, personal hygiene, and religious routines, contribute positively to students’ health control. The boarding school environment and the role-modeling of administrators play a crucial role in shaping healthy behaviors among students. However, limitations were still identified, particularly in terms of menu variety and nutritional understanding. This study concludes that the integration of Islamic dietary patterns and lifestyle has strong potential as a promotive and preventive strategy for improving students’ health in modern Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) remains a formidable threat in both community and healthcare settings, thanks to its ability to evade β-lactam antibiotics and accumulate resistance to multiple drug classes. Here, we sequenced and compared the genomes of 13 recent clinical MRSA isolates alongside two well-characterized reference strains (N315 and NCTC 8325). By applying the ResFinder and VirulenceFinder pipelines, we rapidly cataloged each strain’s antibiotic resistance and virulence repertoire. Every MRSA isolate carried the hallmark mecA gene, and most also harbored blaZ, which encodes penicillinase. Resistance determinants for aminoglycosides (aac(6′)-Ie-aph(2″), aph(3′)-III), macrolides (erm(C), mph(C)), and chloramphenicol (cat variants) appeared in various combinations across the collection. On the virulence side, genes for α- and γ-hemolysins (hla, hlgABC) were universal, and nearly all strains possessed phage-encoded immune-evasion factors (sak, scn). The total count of virulence genes ranged from ten to fourteen per genome, peaking in two particularly gene-rich isolates. Our findings highlight the genetic diversity of MRSA, where multidrug resistance and a broad toxin arsenal coexist. Moreover, this study underscores the speed and reliability of in silico screening tools for antimicrobial-resistance surveillance and comparative genomics. Future work should integrate laboratory assays and patient data to link these genomic profiles to clinical outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic Hospital Surabaya as a Class B Hospital has collaborated with BPJS since 2014. Preparing the tariff pattern used in serving BPJS patients is very important, especially regarding quality and cost control. To do this, hospitals must be able to serve BPJS patients by taking into account existing pricing patterns so that there are no losses in treating patients. To prepare for this, it is necessary to refresh knowledge regarding unit costs and hold a workshop to increase knowledge and calculate unit costs. This workshop is expected to provide additional knowledge to participants regarding hospital business management in determining pricing patterns based on unit cost calculations. The method used in this workshop is to use lecture, case study and simulation methods. 48 participants took part in the workshop with evaluations consisting of pretests and posttests. One important element in streamlining a company's production process is the concept of cost per unit, which can help companies ensure that the costs they incur will be lower than the selling price of one unit. This workshop is very beneficial regarding unit cost calculations, this can be seen from the results of the pretest and post-test calculations with an increase in value of 15% and there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test based on the results of the Paired Sample T-Test.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which toddlers have a length or height below the standard for their age, reflecting chronic malnutrition. Various strategies have been implemented to address this issue, including the provision of complementary feeding (MP-ASI) using locally available food sources to ensure age-appropriate nutrient intake. According to the Auxiliary Public Health Center in Turirejo Village, Gresik Regency, the prevalence of stunting has declined in recent years; however, in 2022, 30 toddlers were still identified as stunted, making it a continuing public health concern. The intervention employed a structured approach consisting of problem identification, development of a problem-solving framework, pre-test assessment, health education and practical training, and post-test evaluation. As a practical solution, a demonstration of complementary food preparation using moringa (Moringa oleifera) leaves was conducted. Moringa leaves were processed into moringa pudding as a protein-rich supplementary food for stunted toddlers. Pre-test and post-test results were presented in percentage form, and differences in knowledge among mothers of toddlers and posyandu cadres regarding stunting, complementary feeding, and exclusive breastfeeding were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The findings indicated a p-value < 0.05, demonstrating a significant improvement in knowledge after the educational session. Participants were able to prepare and serve moringa pudding according to the demonstrated recipe. This socialization and local food–based complementary feeding initiative serves as a community learning strategy to prevent further increases in stunting prevalence in Turirejo Village.
