Abstract

This study, conducted on children in Group B at PAUD Al-Muhabbah in Bandung City, was motivated by the low level of children's creativity, which was attributed to monotonous learning activities that relied heavily on thematic books. To address this issue, creativity development must be approached differently. One of the strategies implemented at PAUD Al-Muhabbah involved the use of loose parts play to stimulate children's creativity. The objective of this study was to examine improvements in the creative abilities of Group B children through the application of loose parts play. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The study involved 10 children as research subjects. Data analysis followed a qualitative procedure, including data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the use of loose parts of play effectively enhanced children's creativity. In the indicator of curiosity, children who were initially passive became more active in asking questions about topics they were interested in. For the indicator of form creation, children who initially appeared confused eventually became capable of producing various forms. Regarding independent creation, children who previously required assistance were later able to create their works without help from the teacher. These improvements were attributed to the children's enthusiasm and engagement during loose parts play activities.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low recognition of number concepts in early childhood. Although children are able to recognize number symbols, they still experience difficulties in understanding the actual concept of numbers. Previous research indicates that the lack of engaging learning media contributes to this problem by making the learning process monotonous. Therefore, innovative learning media are needed to enhance children’s understanding of number concepts, one of which is loose parts media. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of loose parts media in introducing number concepts to young children. This study employed a literature review method by analyzing 10 articles, books, and published research related to the use of loose parts media in early numeracy learning. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to obtain accurate conclusions. The results of the study indicate that loose parts media can effectively introduce number concepts, as shown by children’s ability to sequence numbers 1–10, match numbers with objects, and write numbers independently.

Abstract

Thematic learning is a type of career guidance service that can be applied in early childhood education and is considered effective because its learning themes introduce various kinds of work. This study aims to analyze career guidance services for early childhood through the thematic learning process. The research employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by reviewing five research journal articles and two undergraduate theses accessible online. Data were collected using documentation techniques and analyzed using grounded theory with the Straussian approach. The findings indicate that career guidance services can be integrated into thematic learning in early childhood education through learning methods and media that are easy for teachers to understand and apply. This approach is particularly effective when implemented by educators with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood teacher education, as it helps address the limited involvement of guidance and counseling teachers in PAUD. Furthermore, integrating career guidance principles into thematic learning through systematic lesson planning allows the introduction of work-related concepts to children through themes relevant to their daily environment, fostering structured and focused career development from an early age.

Abstract

Adiwiyata is one of the programs implemented at PAUD Al-Muhabbah to instill environmental awareness from an early age. Through Adiwiyata activities, early childhood learners are encouraged to care for the environment by engaging in activities such as removing weeds, tidying soil, and collecting yellow leaves. These activities can also support the development of children’s fine motor skills. Therefore, this study aims to examine the improvement of children’s fine motor skills at PAUD Al-Muhabbah through the implementation of Adiwiyata activities. This study employed a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The research subjects consisted of 10 Group A children. The case study approach was used to provide a comprehensive description of the program as implemented in its actual context. Data were collected through observation and interviews. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative analysis procedures, including data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the implementation of Adiwiyata activities in the school environment produced significant improvements in children’s fine motor skills. This improvement was evident in indicators of hand–eye coordination, where initially children were unable to coordinate their eyes and hands effectively during activities. After participating in Adiwiyata activities, children demonstrated improved hand–eye coordination. In addition, improvements were observed in finger strength; previously, children’s finger muscles appeared weak, but following the activities, children showed increased finger muscle strength.
