Abstract

Dry skin makes the skin look cracked, rough, and scaly, due to weather, environmental factors, and skin diseases. For this reason, facial skin needs antioxidants to protect it from free radical attacks that can harm the skin. Robusta coffee contains flavonoids, which can increase antioxidant activity. Gambier contains catechins, which are antioxidants. For this reason, treatment for dry skin is needed in the form of a peel-off gel mask of Robusta coffee and Gambir. This study aims to determine the feasibility of peel-off gel masks for Robusta and Gambir coffee through flavonoid content tests (laboratory tests) and organoleptic tests in the categories of texture, aroma, and stickiness. and hedonic tests (panelist preferences). This study employs quantitative research methods, including an experimental approach, with observation, documentation, and observation sheets as data collection techniques. Based on the processed data, a flavonoid content test was conducted, revealing 0.0094% (9.3951 ppm) of flavonoids in 100 g of the sample tested. These flavonoids function as antioxidants, protecting the skin from free radical attacks that can harm facial skin. The organoleptic and hedonic tests showed that the peel-off gel mask had a very thick texture, a strong aroma, and a very sticky power, which were liked by the panelists. Thus, the Robusta coffee and Gambir peel-off gel masks are suitable for use on dry skin.

Abstract

Dry skin often makes women less confident because the skin looks dull and scaly. One type of cosmetic that can be used for skin care is a body scrub. Body scrub is a cosmetic preparation used to maintain the skin. Oatmeal and gotu kola leaves are natural ingredients containing antioxidants that can protect the skin from the dangers of free radicals, which cause dry skin conditions to worsen. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of body scrub oatmeal and gotu kola leaves, as reviewed from the level of Vitamin A and flavonoids (laboratory tests), organoleptic tests (texture, aroma, adhesiveness), and hedonic tests (panelists' preferences). This study uses a quantitative research method with an experimental approach. Data collection techniques used are observation methods, documentation, and observation sheets. The study's results from the vitamin A content test are 6.3720%, and the flavonoid content is 0.0094% in 100g of the tested sample. These components moisturize the skin and act as antioxidants, protecting the skin from the dangers of free radicals. Organoleptic tests and hedonic tests show that the body scrub has a rough texture, strong aroma, strong adhesive power, and is liked by the panelists. Thus, the oatmeal and peganum leaf body scrub is suitable for use on dry skin.

Abstract

The main objective of the program at the community nutrition service center is to encourage Padang State University clinics to provide holistic community nutrition services. This service center is assisted by nutrition from FMIPA, and FPP Culinary Experts, as well as from FIK, which is intended for the community. The implementation of this activity is managed by a group of lecturers who are scientifically closely related to the program to be made. The proposed community nutrition service center is expected to develop well in providing individual and community services based on clinical nutrition. Community nutrition service centers are oriented towards other health service efforts found in clinics, namely promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative. The advantage of this service center compared to other first level health facilities such as the puskesmas is that the services provided are accompanied by assistance in the field when conducting counseling and providing services with integrity. The main targets of community nutrition services are children, adolescents, pregnant women and the elderly. The programs carried out include infant and toddler nutrition service programs, youth nutrition services, pregnant women nutrition services, elderly nutrition services and pre-participation examinations. This clinic is under the Chancellor of UNP which will be developed within the Center for Health Service Development. It is hoped that the UNP clinic will continue to develop according to the capabilities of each faculty in developing health services according to their scientific fields.

Abstract

Objective: This empirical study investigates the heterogeneous impact of financial inclusion on income inequality across the economically and institutionally diverse Asian region. Specifically, it examines how the effect of financial inclusion varies across different segments (quantiles) of the inequality distribution, a dimension largely unexplored by prior research. Methods: Utilizing an annual panel dataset spanning 29 Asian countries from 2010 to 2022, the study employs the Panel Quantile Fixed Effect model. This robust econometric approach is selected to effectively control for unobserved country-specific heterogeneity and to address the non-normal, outlier-prone nature typical of income inequality data. Analysis is focused on the lower (Q10), median (Q50), and upper (Q90) quantiles. Findings: Estimation results consistently demonstrate that financial inclusion significantly reduces income inequality across all tested quantiles (Q10 ,Q50, Q90), with statistical significance maintained across the board (e.g., Q10: p=0.031, : Q90:p=0.059). The most substantial mitigating impact is identified at the median quantile (Q50), exhibiting a large negative coefficient of -4.9404 (p=0.000). This key finding suggests that FI is most effective in countries characterized by moderate levels of inequality. Among the control variables, trade openness significantly exacerbates inequality at the Q50 level, while other macroeconomic factors are generally insignificant. Originality: The primary novelty lies in the application of the Panel Quantile Fixed Effect method to a broad 29-country Asian sample to precisely capture FI’s differentiated impact. By providing nuanced, quantile-specific estimations, this research significantly advances beyond conventional mean-based studies (such as OLS and GMM), confirming that financial inclusion’s role in inequality reduction is heterogeneous and conditional on a country’s initial inequality level. Policy implication: These findings underscore the critical need for adaptive, non-uniform financial inclusion policies. Policymakers in Asia must tailor their financial inclusion strategies—including the types of services offered—based on the specific level of inequality they currently confront. This targeted approach is essential to maximizing the effectiveness of financial inclusion in promoting sustainable income equality.

Abstract

Dermatoglyphic characteristics, including fingerprint patterns and the axial triradius digital (ATD) angle, are widely used as biological markers to assess genetic variation and developmental stability within populations. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of fingerprint patterns and the variation of ATD angles among Mentawai children in West Sumatra. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed involving 10 Mentawai individuals aged 6–18 years. Fingerprint patterns were collected using the ink-and-paper method, and ATD angles were measured manually with a protractor. The results showed that the most common fingerprint patterns were plain whorl and ulnar loop, each representing 40% of observations. The majority of participants exhibited an ATD angle greater than 45° on both the left (70%) and right (60%) hands. These findings reveal distinctive dermatoglyphic characteristics in Mentawai children, indicating potential genetic influences and intrauterine environmental factors. Overall, this study enhances the scientific understanding of biological diversity within the Mentawai population.
