Abstract

This study examines strategic capacities and aspirations of 14 Indonesian tourism villages through a cross-regional SWOT and SOAR analysis. Using a qualitative multiple-case study design, semi-structured interviews was conducted with one Pokdarwis (Tourism Awareness Group) representative per village and reviewed secondary documents, coding data manually in Excel. Thematic analysis identified three core strengths rich natural attractions, distinctive cultural heritage, and active community involvement and three primary weaknesses underdeveloped infrastructure, limited strategic capacity, and low digital promotion. Key opportunities emerged around digital marketing, niche tourism product development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration, while environmental risks and fragmented governance surfaced as major threats. Informants’ aspirations centered on becoming models of eco-cultural tourism, empowering youth, and integrating tradition with modern strategies. Early results include increased homestay revenues, growth of MSMEs, and the revival of cultural events, demonstrating that asset-based planning coupled with targeted capacity building can yield sustainable outcomes. The findings underscore the value of combining diagnostic (SWOT) and forward-looking (SOAR) frameworks to guide community-based tourism development and offer practical insights for policymakers and practitioners aiming to foster inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and ecological resilience. Abstract

This study explores the potential of Batik Tidayu to be developed as a Geographical Indication (GI) product in the future, with the aim of supporting sustainable cultural tourism in Singkawang, Indonesia. Batik Tidayu is a contemporary textile that reflects the multicultural identity of the city through the fusion of Tionghoa, Dayak, and Melayu traditions. The research employed a qualitative approach, using interviews with the Tourism Office and Dekranasda of Singkawang, supported by document analysis and relevant scholarly literature. The findings indicate that while Batik Tidayu embodies strong cultural heritage value, it currently faces key challenges such as the absence of a producer association (MPIG), lack of product standardization, and limited awareness of communal intellectual property rights. Nevertheless, stakeholders recognize its potential as a cultural asset capable of preserving local identity, empowering artisans, and contributing to the creative economy. The study concludes that collaboration among government, artisans, academics, and communities is essential to prepare Batik Tidayu for GI recognition and to align it with long-term sustainable tourism development. Abstract

This study explores the cultural and spatial limitations surrounding the use of traditional houses (Sa’o) as tourist accommodations in Kampung Adat Wologai, a cultural village in Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. While rural tourism and desa wisata development often promote homestays in vernacular architecture, the sacred function of the Sa’o renders such usage inappropriate in Wologai. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research draws on field observations, semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders—including Mosalaki, village officials, tourism groups, and the local tourism office—and secondary data from academic and government sources. The findings reveal that the Sa’o are central to ancestral rituals and cannot be opened to outsiders for overnight stays. In response, the Dinas Pariwisata proposed a terminological and spatial distinction between rumah adat and rumah tradisional to guide future accommodation planning. A SWOT and SOAR analysis shows potential for homestay development through modern houses located outside the ritual core, reflecting cultural respect while meeting tourism demands. This research highlights the need for localized policy approaches and the vital role of customary leadership in sustainable tourism planning. Theoretically, it contributes to the discourse on heritage and tourism, while practically, it offers a culturally sensitive model for accommodation development in desa wisata with strong ritual traditions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis potensi pengembangan sumber daya manusia dalam sektor pariwisata di Dusun Katiet, Desa Bosua, Kecamatan Sipora Selatan, Pulau Sipora, Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Studi kualitatif dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus dengan mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara mendalam tidak terstruktur dan Focus Group Discussion dengan berbagai pemangku kepentingan lokal, termasuk pejabat pemerintah, fasilitator desa, dan kepala desa. Hasil pengumpulan dan analisis data primer menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Katiet memiliki potensi pariwisata yang signifikan terkait surfing, komunitas lokal belum sepenuhnya terlibat dalam kegiatan pariwisata. Infrastruktur pariwisata yang belum memadai dan kurangnya keterampilan masyarakat yang berkaitan dengan industri pariwisata menjadi tantangan utama yang dihadapi komunitas tersebut. Namun demikian, temuan ini juga mengungkapkan kesediaan yang tinggi untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan lokal melalui pelatihan, pendidikan, dan dukungan kelembagaan yang tepat. Hasil penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya penguatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia dalam konteks pariwisata untuk mendorong pengembangan berkelanjutan di Mentawai. Dengan memfokuskan pada pelatihan dan pendidikan, serta meningkatkan kerjasama antar pemangku kepentingan, penelitian ini berpotensi untuk memberikan kontribusi signifikan bagi pembangunan berkelanjutan dan kesejahteraan komunitas lokal. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak keterampilan komunikasi staf front office terhadap kepuasan pelanggan serta niat untuk kembali menginap di hotel bintang empat di Tangerang Selatan, dengan fokus keterampilan komunikasi yang meliputi aspek komunikasi verbal dan komunikasi non-verbal. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner terstruktur yang disebarkan kepada 200 pelanggan pada salah satu hotel bintang empat di Tangerang Selatan. Teknik pemilihan sampel yang digunakan adalah stratified random sampling untuk memastikan representatives di berbagai demografi hotel. Data yang telah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak SmartPLS, dengan menerapkan Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) untuk menilai hubungan antara keterampilan komunikasi dengan kepuasan pelanggan. Hasil empiris menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara keterampilan komunikasi karyawan kantor depan dengan tingkat kepuasan pelanggan. Secara khusus, baik komunikasi verbal maupun nonverbal terbukti meningkatkan persepsi pelanggan terhadap kualitas pelayanan, yang mengarah pada niat yang lebih tinggi untuk kembali menginap di hotel. Hal ini  mengindikasikan bahwa manajemen hotel perlu memprioritaskan pelatihan dan pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi bagi karyawan kantor depan. Artikel ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap literatur yang ada dengan menyajikan bukti empiris tentang peran penting keterampilan komunikasi dalam industri perhotelan. Selain itu, artikel ini menawarkan wawasan praktis bagi manajer hotel yang ingin meningkatkan kepuasan dan retensi pelanggan melalui peningkatan komunikasi staf, dengan menyoroti kebaruan dalam fokus pada elemen verbal dan nonverbal dalam konteks budaya tertentu. Implementasi program pelatihan yang terarah khususnya terhadap kemampuan komunikasi karyawan kantor depan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan dan kepuasan pelanggan secara keseluruhan, sehingga mendorong loyalitas pelanggan.

Abstract

This research analyzes the potential of human resources in the accommodation business of pondok wisata or homestays in Besani Tourism Village, Blado District, Batang Regency, Central Java. Cottage tourism is a form of accommodation that offers more intimate lodging close to local communities, providing a different and satisfying experience for travelers seeking authenticity and togetherness in their journeys. The village stands out due to its concept of Javanese-Chinese cultural acculturation and attractive natural tourism potential. Through qualitative approaches and case studies, involving stakeholders as respondents, and utilizing primary data from interviews and observations, as well as secondary data from scientific literature and official documents. The SOAR approach is used to identify internal strengths, external opportunities, aspirations, and desired outcomes in accommodation business development. The analysis highlights the traditional skills of residents, significant tourism demand, and support from local government and companies. Human resource development strategies are recommended, including business management skills training, group-based cottage tourism development, service standard enhancement, income diversification, and local cultural promotion. This study provides insights into the potential of human resources to enhance competitiveness and sustainability in the tourism sector in Besani Tourism Village.

Abstract

Desa Catur, Kecamatan Kintamani, Kabupaten Bangli, adalah salah satu pusat produksi kopi Arabika berkualitas ekspor di Bali. Desa ini, yang berada di ketinggian 1.250 meter di atas permukaan laut, terletak di ujung barat Kecamatan Kintamani yang terkenal dengan kopi Arabika dan kawasan geopark Danau Batur. Oleh karena itu, desa ini menjadi salah satu destinasi favorit wisatawan di Bali karena terkenal dengan tanaman kopi dan keindahan alamnya. Untuk lebih meningkatkan popularitasnya lagi, desa ini perlu meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas tanaman kopi serta produk yang ditawarkan kepada wisatawan dengan cara memaksimalkan pemanfaatan tanaman kopi. Agar wisatawan dapat mengingat tempat yang mereka kunjungi, salah satu caranya adalah dengan menyajikan produk lokal pada saat kunjungan. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah: mengembangkan keterampilan baru; memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal; dan mendorong kemandirian ekonomi. Ada 30 peserta, sebagian besar adalah petani kopi, yang mengikuti metode pelatihan dengan metode ceramah dan metode lokakarya. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan agar dapat diketahui tingkat pemahaman dan pengetahuan dari pelatihan yang dilakukan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pelatihan tentang pemanfaatan tanaman kopi dalam meningkatkan daya tarik wisata sangat signifikan, yaitu terjadi pada tingkat pengetahuan dan pemahaman dalam membuat kopi dengan teknik infus dan berbagai jenis minuman yang dapat disajikan kepada wisatawan. Simpulannya ialah penyampian materi yang diberikan dapat diserap dengan sangat baik.

Abstract

This study aims to overcome the problems faced by the Tanjung Burung Village community in making quality traditional cakes and in managing culinary businesses. The main problems found were the lack of technical knowledge in making cakes and a low understanding of the basics of entrepreneurship. To overcome this, training was conducted which included improving traditional cake production skills, providing entrepreneurship, financial management, and utilizing social media for product marketing. The results of this training showed a significant increase in cake making skills with consistent quality, the ability to plan and run a business independently, and a better understanding of digital marketing. In addition, ongoing mentoring also had a positive impact in ensuring the sustainability of the Tanjung Burung community's culinary business. This program is expected to develop the potential of traditional village culinary into a sustainable business that is able to compete in the local and wider markets.

Abstract

Desa Tanjung Burung di Kabupaten Tangerang menghadapi dampak negatif karena adanya pembangunan real estate yang signifikan. Keterbatasan tingkat pendidikan dan keterbatasan terhadap pelatihan juga menghambat masyarakat di Desa Tanjung Burung untuk beradaptasi dengan kondisi yang baru. Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) bertajuk “Pelatihan Inovasi Minuman Mocktail Kepada Masyarakat Desa Tanjung Burung” dirancang untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut dengan memberikan pelatihan komprehensif. Program ini meliputi pengenalan alat dan bahan, teknik pembuatan mocktail, serta strategi pemasaran modern melalui media sosial. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan peserta, yang kini mampu menghasilkan produk inovatif dengan cita rasa, tekstur, dan tampilan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan pasar urban. Selain itu, peserta juga memahami cara memanfaatkan media digital untuk branding dan pemasaran, membuka peluang usaha yang lebih luas. Program ini tidak hanya memperkuat potensi ekonomi kreatif masyarakat tetapi juga mendorong keberlanjutan pengembangan usaha berbasis komunitas di Desa Tanjung Burung.

Abstract

Agrotourism is a tourist activity that is popularly carried out in Indonesia, which is an agricultural country. The study of agro-tourism produces agrileisure which is a conceptual framework for explaining the relationship between activities in agro-tourism. Coffee plantations in the Bangka Belitung Province, which is famous for its coffee drinking culture, were initially only for personal consumption without any other potential. This research seeks to identify the potential of coffee plantations as an agrileisure-based agro-tourism destination in Melabun Village, Central Bangka Regency. A qualitative approach with the type of case study was carried out, and data collection was carried out through structured interviews and observation for primary data, as well as a literature review for secondary data. Interviews were conducted with five main informants who were part of the village government and the provincial tourism office. The interview results are then narrated according to the agrileisure framework. The result is that Melabun Village does not yet have significant potential in terms of agriculture, and recreation and leisure. However, in the aspect of social change, Melabun Village has human resources that are quite ready to accept tourists, but still need education and training regarding tourism activities. The SWOT matrix was developed based on the results of the interviews to formulate a coffee plantation agro-tourism development strategy in Melabun Village. Promotion through exhibitions, social media, and building a brand image is recommended if Melabun Village wants to become a coffee plantation agro-tourism destination.
