Abstract

This study explores the innovation of cocktail recipes inspired by the distinctive features of Indonesia's 10 Super Priority Destinations. The cookbook blends local spices with cultural narratives, aiming to create unique recipes that embody the identity of each destination while supporting sustainable tourism efforts. These recipes are carefully designed to showcase the richness of Indonesian flavors through rempah (spices) such as ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon, paired with visual elements reflecting each destination’s natural beauty, such as tropical beaches and lush green landscapes. The combination of culinary artistry and cultural storytelling transforms the cookbook into more than just a recipe collection—it becomes a strategic tool for promoting Indonesian tourism and cultural heritage. The research applies an iterative design process, involving audience feedback and testing, to refine the content and ensure it aligns with audience preferences. The visual aesthetics of the cookbook, including layout design, illustrations, and photography, emphasize readability and cultural relevance. The findings highlight the importance of incorporating cultural and natural elements into promotional strategies for local products. By bridging culinary traditions with modern marketing techniques, this study positions the cookbook as an innovative approach to fostering global appreciation for Indonesia’s tourism and cultural diversity

Abstract

This study explores the operations of Starling vendors—informal mobile sellers of instant beverages in Gading Serpong, Tangerang Regency—who represent a unique form of ultra-micro enterprise within the suburban informal economy. As urban spaces expand and formal employment remains limited, these vendors have emerged as resilient actors navigating a dynamic environment through mobility, adaptability, and customer proximity. The study aims to examine how Starling vendors sustain their businesses through operational strategies, product diversification, and customer targeting. A qualitative case study method was used, involving semi-structured interviews with ten Starling vendors, direct field observations, and document analysis. Thematic analysis was employed to extract patterns in vendor practices, customer interactions, and environmental challenges. The results show that Starling vendors demonstrate entrepreneurial agility by adjusting working hours, alternating between mobile and stationary operations, and diversifying their offerings beyond instant coffee to include snacks and cigarettes. Most customers are online motorcycle taxi drivers, office workers, and students, with cash still dominating payment methods. Key challenges include weather disruptions and spatial insecurity due to the absence of vendor-friendly policies. The study concludes that Starling vendors exemplify how ultra-micro businesses in suburban areas survive by leveraging informal infrastructures and local networks. While limited in scope, this research offers policy insights for enhancing vendor sustainability through support in digital payments, infrastructure access, and hygiene practices. Future studies should include consumer and policymaker perspectives to address public health and environmental concerns in informal mobile vending.

Abstract

Abstract

Karangturi Tourism, Lasem District, Rembang Regency, which is famous for its acculturation of Javanese and Chinese cultures, as well as the heritage of Lasem batik which is a symbol of local cultural identity. Lasem, known as "Little China" in Central Java, has rich historical and cultural values, where Lasem batik, with its distinctive motifs and colors, is the main tourist attraction. Although Karangturi Village has basic infrastructure such as hotels, hostels, and food stalls, the management of community-based tourism (CBT) is still not optimal. Limitations in local tourism management, promotion, and cultural preservation are challenges in developing this village as a culture-based tourism destination. This study aims to explore the potential of community-based cultural tourism in Karangturi Village and strategies that can increase active community participation in tourism management, with a focus on the integration of Lasem batik in the development of community-based tourism. This research will be conducted in Karangturi Village by involving various stakeholders, such as local communities, batik craftsmen, tourism business managers, and local government. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), semi-structured interviews, and field observations. The data obtained will be analyzed using thematic analysis, SWOT matrix. The results of the study show that Karangturi Lasem Tourism Village has a very strong cultural identity, especially in history, typical Chinese architecture, and unique Lasem batik. The existence of supporting facilities also provides added value for tourist comfort. However, challenges such as less than optimal transportation access and less than optimal promotion are obstacles that need to be overcome. Opportunities from the growing trend of cultural tourism and government support can be utilized with more aggressive and innovative marketing strategies. The contribution of this research is to make improvements in several sectors that are still less than optimal.

Abstract

The increasing demand for safe and exclusive accommodations among female travellers highlights a significant gap in the hospitality industry, particularly in urban centers like Jakarta. Her Haven Guest House aims to address this need by offering women-only lodging that prioritizes safety, comfort, and personalized experiences. This study analyses the marketing strategies required to establish Her Haven Guest House as a leading provider in this niche market. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining surveys, observations, and secondary data analysis to assess consumer preferences and market dynamics. Primary data was gathered through an online survey of 165 women aged 21-54 in the Greater Jakarta area, revealing a strong preference for women-only accommodations. The study applies the 8Ps marketing mix framework—Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Packaging, Programming, and Partnerships—to develop actionable strategies for the guest house. Additionally, a SWOT analysis identifies key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, guiding strategic recommendations. The findings indicate that Her Haven Guest House can leverage its unique concept and strategic location to attract female travellers seeking security and exclusivity. The results highlight the importance of digital marketing, loyalty programs, and themed events in building brand awareness and customer loyalty. Furthermore, the study provides insights into managerial strategies to enhance service quality and policy recommendations for government support in promoting inclusive tourism. By addressing the specific needs of female travellers, Her Haven Guest House has the potential to contribute to the broader landscape of sustainable and inclusive hospitality.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates how the implementation of a Property Management System at Nio Garden Hotel Sumbawa influences the efficiency of Front Office operations and the overall quality of guest service. It seeks to understand the extent to which early adoption of a digital management platform can support a new hotel in a developing tourism region. Research methods: A qualitative case study approach was employed. Primary data were gathered through a semi structured interview with the Front Office Manager. Secondary data comprised a thematic analysis of twenty nine guest reviews sourced from Google Review, Booking.com, Tiket.com, and Agoda.com. The property management system under study is Atlantis. Results and discussion: The system has improved the speed and accuracy of reservation handling, check in and check out procedures, billing, and room status management. Nevertheless, challenges persist in the assignment of rooms under maintenance, uneven integration of payment methods in the restaurant, and lapses in communication that affect breakfast availability and guest notifications. These findings indicate that while the system has potential, full optimization is hindered by staff learning curves and partial deployment of key features. Implication: To maximize the benefits of a property management system in small or family-owned hotels, continuous staff training, deeper integration across all hotel departments, and proactive digital communication strategies are essential. This will lead to more consistent service delivery and higher levels of guest satisfaction.

Abstract

Ternate is celebrated for its historic spice trade and has recently adopted the Kota Rempah brand to promote its culinary heritage in support of sustainable tourism. This study examines 93 local MSMEs and their 48 unique gastronomic souvenirs—from nutmeg and kenari confections to seafood preserves—to evaluate their contributions to place identity and inclusive economic growth. Utilizing a qualitative case study design, data were gathered through semi-structured interviews with tourism office and Dekranasda officials, MSME owners, and field observations. Findings reveal that most enterprises cluster in urban districts, a diverse product range rooted in local ingredients, and strong stakeholder interest tempered by challenges in branding consistency, packaging, and geographic reach. The analysis highlights how culinary souvenirs function as cultural carriers, fostering emotional connections, longer visitor stays, and repeat visitation, while also empowering women led businesses and community livelihoods. To harness these opportunities, integrated policy measures are recommended, including shared packaging facilities, cohesive Kota Rempah branding guidelines, and expanded support for peripheral areas. Finally, pursuing geographic indication status for key spice products is proposed to protect authenticity, enhance market differentiation, and further advance sustainable tourism development in Ternate.
