The uncertainties especially hurt the MSMEs, which often possess limited organizational resources and capabilities. Referred to the ability to evolve as the environments do, resilience has been seen as a mantra for MSMEs’ survival and success. The purpose of the current study is twofold. Firstly, this study seeks to examine the effect of innovation, resource capability, and social capital on the resilience of MSMEs in Indonesia. Secondly, this study is aimed to examine the relationship between company performance and resilience.Design/Methodology/Approach: Employing a quantitative approach, hypothesis testing utilized Partial Least Square (PLS) data analysis techniques with the SmartPLS 3.0 program. The population in the current inquiry was MSMEs owned by families in Solo Raya, Indonesia. The number of MSMEs involved was 215 MSMEs owned by families.Research findings: Resource capability, innovation, and social capital were found to positively influence the performance of MSMEs, which in turn affected the resilience of MSMEs.Theoretical contribution/Originality: The research findings provide a business resilience construct in third-world, grassroots enterprises where social and cultural factors dominate.Practitioner/Policy implication: Governmental programs, such as exhibitions or workshops, aimed at strengthening MSMEs’ social capital and internal capabilities and cultivating innovation culture are encouraged to assist MSMEs’ survival during economic hardships.Research limitation/Implication: This study only focused on MSMEs in the Greater Solo Region of Central Java, Indonesia, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further studies thus are encouraged to test the results in other economic and cultural settings.

Abstract

Research aims: This study aims to determine the effect of perceived creativity, positive emotion, affective commitment on people intention to interact.Design/Methodology/Approach: The study procedures were carried out using a quantitative approach and data were collected with online questionnaires from July to December in 2023. The participants were selected using purposive sampling based on specific criteria, such as experience in purchasing products online. A total of 225 participants were selected and analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach with SmartPLS.Research findings: The results showed that perceived creativity had a significant relationship on positive emotion and affective commitment. Positive emotion was shown to have a significant effect on interaction intention. However, perceived creativity had no significant impact on interaction intention of apparel brand. This indicated that creative content was inadequate in attracting Instagram users to interact with brand’s account. The results also showed that positive emotion lacked a significant correlation with affective commitment, while affective commitment had a significant relationship with interaction intention.Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study provides meaningful contribution to Stimulus-Organism-Response theory by incorporating creativity to assess Instagram social media platform.Practitioners/Policy Implications: These results can assist business owners and social media marketers in developing creative marketing campaigns and building strong bond with their followers.Research Limitations/Implications: One of the limitations of this study is that it only assessed the use of Instagram in the fashion industry. Therefore, future studies are advised to explore different industries and recruit participants with a specific occupation to obtain better understanding of online consumer behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work ethic and transformational leadership on employee performance, with work motivation as a mediating variable at Company XYZ. The study is motivated by the importance of managing behavioral factors and leadership practices to enhance employee performance in a dynamic organizational environment. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey. Primary data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires distributed to 120 permanent employees of Company XYZ, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results indicate that work ethic has a positive and significant effect on employee performance and work motivation. In contrast, transformational leadership has no significant direct effect on employee performance or work motivation. Work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. It mediates the relationship between work ethic and employee performance, but not the effect of transformational leadership. These findings suggest that improving employee performance is more effectively achieved by strengthening work ethic and enhancing work motivation than by relying on the direct or indirect influence of transformational leadership. The practical implications of this study highlight the importance of human resource management strategies that cultivate a strong work ethic and internal motivation to achieve sustainable performance improvements.
