Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of organizational commitment on employee performance with the work environment as a mediating variable at PT Pelindo (Persero) Samarinda Branch. The main issue addressed is whether organizational commitment has a direct effect on employee performance and to what extent the work environment mediates this relationship. The scope of the study includes all 62 employees at PT Pelindo (Persero) Samarinda Branch. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method, with data collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling with the PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling) approach, supported by SmartPLS 3 software. Total sampling was applied due to the relatively small population. The findings indicate that organizational commitment does not have a significant direct impact on employee performance, but has a significant positive effect on the work environment. The work environment, in turn, has a significant positive effect on employee performance and serves as a full mediator in the relationship between organizational commitment and performance. The study concludes that while organizational commitment alone does not directly enhance performance, its role in fostering a supportive work environment is crucial. Therefore, it is recommended that the company prioritize creating a positive and supportive work environment to promote optimal employee productivity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pelatihan kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai pada Dinas Pemuda dan Olahraga Provinsi Kalimantan Timur dengan pendekatan deskriptif-kausal. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh pegawai di intansi tersebut, dengan Jumlah sampel sebanyak 83 responden yang diambil menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner berformat skala Likert 1-5 dan dianalisis menggunakan Spss versi 27 dengan uji hipotesis pada tingkat signifikansi 0,05. Hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan kerja memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap peningkatan kinerja pegawai, di mana setiap satu jam pelatihan terfokus mampu meningkatkan skor kinerja pegawai sebesar 0,622 poin. Nilai statistik uji t sebesar 9.048 dengan signifikansi < 0,05 menguatkan bahwa hipotesis yang menyatakan pelatihan kerja berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pegawai diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan kerja merupakan strategi efektif dalam pengembangan sumber daya manusia yang berkontribusi signifikan terhadap peningkatan kinerja instansi/perusahaan. This study aims to examine the effect of job training on employee performance at the Youth and Sports Office of East Kalimantan Province using a descriptive-causal approach. The population of the study consisted of all employees at the agency, with a sample size of 83 respondents selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale and analyzed using SPSS version 27 with hypothesis testing at a significance level of 0.05. The regression analysis results indicate that job training has a positive and significant effect on improving employee performance, where each additional hour of focused training can increase the employee performance score by 0.622 points. The t-test statistic value of 9.048 with a significance level below 0.05 confirms the acceptance of the hypothesis stating that job training influences employee performance. Therefore, it can be concluded that job training is an effective strategy in human resource development that significantly contributes to improving the performance of the agency/company.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of occupational health and safety (OHS) on employee performance, with skills as a mediating variable at PT. Sumber Bara Abadi. A quantitative approach was applied using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The entire population of 70 permanent employees was used as the sample through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results showed that OHS significantly affects skills (coefficient = 0.462; P-value = 0.002) and significantly affects employee performance (coefficient = 0.461; P-value = 0.000). Additionally, skills significantly influence performance (coefficient = 0.273; P-value = 0.026). However, the moderating effect of skills on the relationship between OHS and performance was not significant (P-value = 0.284). The R² value indicates that the independent variables explain 21.3% of the variance in skills and 56.2% of the variance in performance. The Q² value of 0.273 indicates a moderate predictive relevance of the model for performance. These findings suggest that OHS and skills are critical factors in improving performance, with skills functioning more effectively as a mediating variable than as a moderator. The study implies that companies should continuously invest in both OHS programs and skill development to foster a safe, productive, and sustainable work environment.

Abstract

The success of public organizations, such as the Samarinda City Manpower Office, is greatly influenced by the performance of its employees. Work discipline is one of the key factors contributing to productivity and operational efficiency. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work discipline and employee performance using a quantitative approach. The population in this study consisted of 70 people, and the sample used was 60 people, selected randomly based on a predetermined sampling formula. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. The results of the study showed a strong and significant correlation between the level of work discipline and employee performance. These findings suggest that improving work discipline has a positive impact on productivity. Practically, these results emphasize the importance of implementing consistent discipline policies and work discipline training programs as part of an organizational performance improvement strategy. This study reinforces organizational behavior theory, which states that internal factors such as work discipline contribute significantly to performance. The uniqueness of this study lies in its specific focus on work discipline as a dominant variable in the local context of Samarinda, as well as its use of a quantitative approach that provides an empirical basis for data-driven decision-making in public sector human resource management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mediating role of technical skills in the relationship between training and work environment on employee productivity within several mining companies in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were obtained from 150 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The sample size was determined based on Slovin's formula assuming a population of 3,000 mining workers with a 7% margin of error, and by referring to Hair et al. (2017), which recommends a minimum of 10 times the number of indicators in the largest construct for PLS-SEM. The results indicate that both training and work environment have positive and significant effects on technical skills, and technical skills significantly influence employee productivity. Additionally, training and work environment have a direct effect on productivity, which is partially mediated by technical skills. All constructs in the model meet the requirements for convergent validity and internal reliability. These findings emphasize the importance of continuous investment in training programs and the creation of a supportive work environment to enhance technical competencies and employee productivity in the mining sector.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kompetensi digital dan transformasi digital terhadap kinerja pegawai pada Dinas Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral Provinsi Kalimantan Timur. Latar belakang penelitian didasarkan pada tuntutan efisiensi layanan publik dan reformasi birokrasi berbasis digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik sampling jenuh, melibatkan 68 orang pegawai sebagai responden. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner tertutup berbasis skala Likert 5 poin, yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada Maret–April 2025 secara daring melalui Google Formulir. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda dengan software SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) versi 25, disertai pengujian asumsi klasik seperti uji normalitas, multikolinearitas, dan heteroskedastisitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi digital (t = 2,970; sig. = 0,004) dan transformasi digital (t = 2,707; sig. = 0,009) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai secara parsial. Secara simultan, kedua variabel juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai (F = 9,615; sig. = 0,000) dengan nilai koefisien determinasi (R² = 0,228), yang berarti 22,8% variasi kinerja dijelaskan oleh kedua variabel tersebut. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa pelatihan keterampilan digital serta implementasi transformasi digital yang berkelanjutan menjadi kunci dalam meningkatkan efektivitas dan efisiensi birokrasi di lingkungan pemerintahan.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the influence of psychological capital and work environment on organizational commitment, with work engagement as a mediating variable among hospital employees. The research seeks to explain how both internal psychological resources and external workplace conditions contribute to fostering commitment in the healthcare sector. Novelty – Unlike previous studies that consistently report work engagement as a universal mediator, this study finds that engagement mediates only the relationship between the work environment and organizational commitment, not between psychological capital and commitment. This provides nuanced empirical evidence that challenges existing assumptions. Furthermore, by focusing on a private hospital in Indonesia, a setting that has received limited attention in organizational behavior research this study extends the geographical and contextual scope of current literature. Method – A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was employed. Data were collected from 201 hospital employees through systematic random sampling from a population of 404 staff. Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test both direct and indirect relationships. Findings – The results show that psychological capital and work environment both significantly influence organizational commitment. Work engagement also has a positive effect on organizational commitment but mediates only the link between work environment and commitment. Limitations and Implications – The research is limited to a single private hospital, constraining the generalizability of findings. Nevertheless, it underscores the importance of strengthening employees’ psychological capital and improving the work environment to enhance organizational loyalty. Theoretically, the study refines the understanding of work engagement’s role as a conditional rather than universal mediator. Practically, the insights can guide hospital managers and policymakers in designing strategies that foster both engagement and commitment

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of training on employee productivity at PT PLN Indonesia Power Mahakam Generating Business Unit (UBP), with communication as a mediating variable. The background of this research is based on the importance of improving the quality of human resources through training as a key strategy to face the challenges of a dynamic electricity industry that demands high professionalism. Training is seen as a strategic investment that not only improves employee skills and productivity but also strengthens the company's competitiveness amid technological changes and evolving market needs. This research uses a quantitative method with a survey approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of PT PLN UBP Mahakam, with a total of 100 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM techniques to test the relationship between training, communication, and employee productivity variables. The results showed that training has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity. In addition, communication is proven to significantly mediate the effect of training on productivity. This means that effective training not only increases individual competence, but also improves the quality of internal communication, which in turn has an impact on increasing overall productivity. This finding strengthens the evidence that training and communication are key factors in human resource development and achieving organizational goals. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that companies continue to develop training programs that are relevant to job needs and strengthen internal communication systems

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital transformation and work environment on employee performance at the Energy and Mineral Resources Office of East Kalimantan Province. Digital transformation is a crucial element in promoting bureaucratic efficiency and public service quality, while a conducive work environment plays a vital role in enhancing employee motivation and productivity. A quantitative approach was applied using a survey method with a census of 68 employees. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 22. The results show that both digital transformation (t = 4.401; sig. = 0.000) and work environment (t = 2.126; sig. = 0.037) have a positive and significant partial effect on employee performance. Simultaneously, the variables also have a significant influence (F = 114.254; sig. = 0.000). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.780) indicates that 78% of the variation in employee performance is explained by these two factors. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing effective digital systems and creating a supportive work environment to optimize bureaucratic performance in the public sector

Abstract

The uncertain economic conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic caused investors in the capital market to have to think again about investing their funds when buying products on the capital market. This study aims to assess the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the level of demand for corporate sukuk in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative method with data in the form of time series and data collection techniques using the documentation method and analyzed by paired t test, Wilcoxon signed-ranks test, and sign test. The results show that corporate sukuk are still the most appropriate choice for the public to invest in the Islamic capital market as evidenced by the data on the development of sukuk from 2016 to 2021 which continues to increase, even though the increase during the pandemic was not as high as before the pandemic occurred.
